I asked for a baby highlight and multi dimensional brown. I got brass yellow, roots that look 4 months grown out, and a dingy brown. She "fixed" it once and then it turned brass and washed out again within 2 washes. She damaged my hair, knotted it so badly doing the highlights by doing a teasing technique. I woke up today and knew I needed a refresh. My hair hasn't been cut or dyed in over a year. I was able to call and get an appointment the same day. Winter was my stylist and she was amazing! I had a great experience with this salon and Jamie. I called in a panic, they got me in same day, and they were truly nice about it--the Heathers up front are awesome! Jamie and her staff did a wonderful job--my roots were covered, color was fixed, cut and style was nice, and even the shampoo was a treat (that scalp massage OMG). It was my first appointment at this salon so we met a few days for a brief consultation so she could get a feel for what I wanted. On the day of our appointment she was ready and we got started right away. She was knowledge and professional and clearly knew what she was doing. At the end I was very happy with the results, and during the appointment had a fun time chatting with her. The salon inside is bigger than it looks on the outside. I called and told the receptionist my situation and was offered a consultation with Noelle (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly). I came in and from the very start I could tell Noelle was very hair educated and understood my exact needs. Noelle was able to get me in later that same week. I needed some serious correction. I've been coming to Melanie Harris at Elleven Salon for almost 3 years now. Every SINGLE time I leave satisfied. While I'm attached to my stylist, you can tell each stylist here takes the time to really assess each of their client's hair to ensure that they leave happy. I typically get a cut and color each time I come. My favorite thing to get done is the balayge. These are hand painted highlights that are very low maintenance for when it starts growing out. It's also a huge trend right now. Melanie also makes sure that she doesn't damage my natural brunette color when I go blonde by using a hair treatment called Olaplex. This is super healthy for your hair and it ensures that your blonde color doesn't get too brassy. Elleven Salon also uses Redken and Purology products. I love the smell of each brand offered. While these are more pricey hair products, they really help maintain color treated, dry or coarse hair in a healthy manner. I love coming to Elleven Salon because they treat you like family. They offer you drinks and snacks to help satisfy your time in the Salon. I will stay forever true to Elleven Salon! read more

I made an appointment for my teenage daughter a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember who she saw. So that's my bad. It's not a bad salon at all. I gave it a 3 star because of the simple haircut my daughter got. It was just a one length all around. $56 doesn't justify it at all. I should have done more research. But because of all the good reviews I thought it wouldn't fail. My mistake was not asking the price. Would I come back? Maybe! Update: since my first -amazing- cut by Noelle, I had started to see Jessica B. Noelle was away on maternity leave and Jessica was her apprentice at the time Noelle was cutting my hair, so I started seeing her since she already knew my hair. For the last three years, Elleven was my go-to salon. Let me just say I've always left the salon "feeling like an eleven". I have a very precise asymmetrical cut that I've been working on growing out since I started going to Elleven. Jessica has always been very meticulous in her work, which my particular style really needs. She even gets excited with the progress of my hair and I can tell that it's not just another cut to her. The only reason I had to knock one star off is because I was blindsided at the register by an increased rate due to the "tier system". Let me explain. I was so happy to hear about Jessica's promotion, but my silly butt should have known that a promotion = higher rates. I wasn't thinking about it at the time. I didn't realize it until I found out the price of my regular haircut was much higher when I went to pay. I totally understand that prices change when a stylist moves up in the tier system. I just wish I had a more /clear/ warning. Maybe their announcement of the promotion was a subtle hint, but 'promotion' and 'yay!' were on my mind, not '$$$'. It just kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I no longer go to Elleven for my six week trims. Believe me, I really wish I could. I just think the prices are pretty steep, hence the triple dollar signs for this business's price range. If money is no issue to you, then by all means please go see Noelle or Jessica B! They're amazing. If you need a very precise fresh, modern cut GO SEE THEM! But I want to LOOK like a baller, not spend like one. Soooo impressed!! I had just rolled into town and was a bit nervous in having to find a new salon/stylist. I've been the victim of a few rather hideous cuts in my time, the most being quite cottonball-esque. I was instantly put at ease when I walked through the door. The salon is large, beautiful and bustling. It has a modern atmosphere which, to me, is a sign that the services and education are up-to-date. Noelle is my stylist. SHE ROCKS!!! Not only did she give me a fantastic cut and style and actually talked to me about what she was doing, she was sooo easy to chat with. Very nice and funny and intelligent!! To me, that is super important... I don't want to spend an hour with a wet dishrag. :) She even gave me some contacts to use on my job hunt! The price was right. They provided wine (woo hoo). I recently moved to Huntsville and a friend recommended Elleven Salon. I called for an appointment and was asked to come in for a free consultation. I met with Jenny and she is amazing. We talked about what I wanted done and my concerns. She asked me what difficulties I have with my hair and we talked in depth about how I wanted my hair to look. Right at the end of the consultation she asked me to tell her the main thing I wanted her to accomplish at my appointment and I told her. As luck would have it, Jenny had a cancellation later the same day and I was able to get my hair done then. I will tell you honestly that Jenny gave me the BEST haircut of my life! Loved my experience here. I was looking for a good hair salon around the area as I have just moved here. It's never easy to find somewhere you can trust your hair with. I showed Jamie a picture of what I wanted done, she asked me a few questions regarding the haircut before cutting it and I really liked that. Almost all places I've been to, they'd begin by just saying 'okay'. I had my 6 year old who wanted to see her mama get her hair done. As soon as I sit on my chair, she wanted a haircut as well. I have had regular cuts at Elleven for about a year now with Amy and my expectations have always been met or exceeded. The salon is simple and clean and not overly noisy. I specifically like my experiences with Amy because after my initial communication about my hair 'goals', I go in and she cuts it perfectly without extra instruction. She is also speedy and sometimes available within short notice, which is especially helpful to me. Most importantly, though, you can tell that she really enjoys her job and has a passion to always improve. My first experience with them was they make you come in the first time for a "consultation" to just review your hair or whatever it is they do. I was not quite sure because it seemed ridiculous to me as I have never in the 25 years I've had my hair colored, never had to do this. This was free though, so I went thinking this must be a new thing. However, I did think a professional hairstylist shouldn't need to "consult" with you via an entire appointment to see your hair type and what you want prior to even setting an actual appointment with you; but perhaps they were newbies and still learning what they are doing. I had 2 girls "review" my hair (one being the actual rookie), they discussed amongst themselves about my hair and also asked me what I wanted. I had not had a hairstylist since I was in college who had been able to get that perfect blonde that I had been searching for but I was hoping Elleven Salon might be able to do the trick because, hey, they did a "consultation". That had to be a good thing, right?! Anyway, I set an appointment, which was about 3 months out - not even kidding. So I tried to wait it out, eventually completely forgetting about the appointment. And I'll admit, I completely lost the reminder card - if they even gave me one - and had not written it in my calendar. I mean 3 months is a change in seasons people. So, maybe a year later my husband needed a hair cut and his regular hairstylist was out. Forgetting all about Elleven Salon and my "consult" and absolutely my appointment I ever had, I made him an appointment online. I used my email since he never checks his. His appointment was for that upcoming Saturday - I guess guys: 1) don't have to do a "consult and 2) can get an appointment within 2 days. So he goes there on Saturday morning at 8:45 for his 9 am appointment. They tell him they tried to call me, but it wouldn't go through. They were calling to let me know they couldn't do his hair until I paid my balance of $175 for missing my appointment. Ok. What?! I missed my appointment!? When was that?! 2 years ago? 3 years ago? And you are telling me I owe you $175! And then you tell my husband that you won't cut his hair because I owe you $175? I thought they were joking. I thought, OK, if I accidentally missed my appointment by mistake, which I did, I can understand I need to pay a fee, but if you think I am going to pay $175, you have been smelling too many chemicals. This salon thinks it is better than any salon in Huntsville and the fact that you wouldn't even cut my hubby's hair says a whole lot about you. There are many salons in Huntsville, AL that are far and above Elleven Salon. Terrame' beats them all. So, if you want great service, great people and none of the chemical thinking go to Terrame'. This is my first review, and I thought I would make my resounding contribution for this salon. As far as haircuts go, I have always been apprehensive. I have had some hideous hairdos' in my time, and while it always "grows" out, it sucks so badly to have to wait for a bad cut to grow out. After researching several salons in the area, I thought Elleven seemed the most promising. They got me an appointment right away! On arrival, everyone in the salon seemed so warm and friend. It really is a nice and inviting salon! They served me a glass of wine, with water, and had a lovely, well-lighted reception area. Already impressed with the establishment, my cut, color, and style with Amy made me more than just an "eleven" on the ten scale! Maybe they should rename this salon "Elleven Plus A Million Bucks!" cause that's how my hair looks and I feel! I particularly want to comment on Amy's talent. Firstly, her friendly nature makes her clients feel welcomed and comfortable. Her unique ability to interpret her client wishes, desires, and expectations and translate them into a cut, color, and style beyond their expectations is a true testament to her intuition, inherent talent, and skill. While I live out of town, I frequently visit my parents who live here, and anticipate returning to Amy any and every chance I get! As far as the price goes (read from other contributors), as someone that gets their haircut and colored maybe once or twice a year, I think investing in a skilled professional for an outstanding cut that grows out well is well worth it! Frustrated and not impressed!! I scheduled an appointment for my daughter (6yr) to get her hair wash/cut for school pictures. This was my first visit and I only choose this salon because of the amazing reviews from yelp. My original hair stylist wasn't available. The original appointment was set at 4pm, but was rescheduled by the stylist because she was running behind to 4:15pm. Now, due to traffic we ended up being about five minutes late for this appointment. When we walked we were told by the receptionist that the stylist expected us at 4:15 and that her 4:30 appointment was due to arrive shortly, so she will have to check to see if she is available. Then, she said she's available but won't have time to wash her and can only do a dry cut. My daughter has very curly hair, and I should have walked out right then, but I decided I'd give them a chance because I really didn't want to go to some random "chop shop". Guess I should have after being treated like an outcast for being late for the appointment. So, don't even bother showing up if you think you might be late, otherwise they really won't give you the attention you deserve but will still charge you like they did. So, the stylist attempted to brush out my daughter's hair by giving it a couple squirts of a leave-in conditioner (not enough to actually get but a section wet) and because she is tender-headed gave up immediately and turned the brush over to me. I brushed it out in a matter of minutes (less than 2 min) it wasn't that knotted up at all the stylist just gave up. Then, she couldn't cut her hair while she sat down because of where the chair and my daughter's met, so she had to stand and not move around at all while she cut her hair. In the end, I was charged $21 for a trim on a 6yr old where we used a squirt of conditioner and I had to brush her hair out. RIDICULOUS! Moral of the story: Don't be late otherwise you won't get the treatment you deserve, and if they act like they don't value your business WALK OUT! read more

All of the reviews online rave about this place and I did, too! The staff is extremely friendly, the location is in a great area and the interior is very modern. I had Ashley as my stylist and she did exactly what I asked and discussed options for my hairstyles and she was very professional. The price was right--A wash/dry/style/cut was $39, which is a great price for a great cut. I will definitely go back for my trim in 10 weeks and may even consider getting a color. I also LOVED how I got this all done in less than 45 minutes. I gave this 4/5 stars only because I want to explore the other services they offer to see if they truly are "as good as it gets", but I do anticipate updating my rating in the future. 3/31/2015 I have tried all of their services applicable to me and the salon never sways in quality! I am from out of town and was looking for a good haircut in Huntsville. Usually, I drive to Birmingham to go to a salon (I'm from a small town in east AL), so I'm used to the Bham salon prices. BUT -- to those who have said Elleven is pricey -- they are very open about their pricing. When I called to make an appt, the receptionist asked what I wanted done AND about my price range. (I got a standard cut and style, which start at $39). Frankly, I was glad to be asked about my price range -- it assured me that I wouldn't be surprised by a $75 haircut. :) They also got me in right away! My appointment was with Melanie, and she did a great job. She really took her time with my hair, making sure that I got what I wanted, and even educating me about how to style it. After going to the same stylist for 10 years I was very nervous about trying someone new. I had a consultation appointment with Noelle where we discussed what I was looking for, why I was looking to change and what I'd like to see in my hair. She took great notes, discussed what she thought would look great on me and very importantly she listened. After I had my actual hair appointment with her, I was very happy with my decision to change stylists. She did not leave me with an assistant, so I did not feel deserted or worried the assistant might make a mistake. She had great advice and did not try pushing products on me. Instead I believe I got some poor girl that had to keep asking for help. I spent over four hours and $250 in this place for basically nothing!!!!! I got the beach wave that they advertise... She's the only stylist I've ever seen who noticed that my hair has some natural wave to it, and gave me a cut that I don't have to blow dry and straighten ever day. I started going to Erin when she was still in school in Austin. As a 23 year old with my first job out of college, it was hard to afford anything else. I met her just in time to squeeze in 2 appointments before she graduated, and boy was I lucky. She not only did an AMAZING job on my highlights and cut, but she also was a blast to be around. Most stylists I have gone to usually do the fake, pretend I m interested, kind of but not really get to know you chit-chat. Not with Erin! It s like all of that was skipped over and we were instant friends. I decided then that I wouldn t be going to the school anymore, I would go to whatever salon Erin went to after graduation. It turns out that her new salon was a little bit aways, and a little more expensive, but it was absolutely worth it. She has even gotten me to break out of my hair-shell...No more cheap box-dying for this girl! I was so sad when I found out Erin was moving away from Austin. But knowing her and of course her being the best at everything, she even pointed me in the direction of someone great in her absense. Words cannot describe how TERRIBLE the service was. I spent $75 on my hair and it wasn't even clean after. I called ahead of time and notified the stylists that I am black and my hair is curly. I was assured that I would be properly cared for. However, I literally had to coach the stylist when handling my hair. i told her to use a brush, add more heat, and put oil on my hair. She charged me so much because of the "time it took to straighten my hair." It took that long because she did not know how to handle my hair. She also never notified me of the price increase. THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO CURLY/ETHNIC HAIR!!! I was poorly informed of their capabilities. I complained upon paying, and they were very unaccommodating. Not even an admittance of their poor service. I was told that the stylist- Ashley- does "black hair" all the time. Unfortunately, everyone's hair is not the same even in the "black" community. I would have rather an honest admittance of inability to handle my hair, than the dishonest and poor service I received. DO NOT GO THERE!!! Poor customer service!!! I am a long-time client of Elleven Salon. Becky is my primary stylist. I went to her after a medical problem caused me to lose nearly half my hair. I figured I would have to just have my head shaved, but she did a lengthy consultation and came up with a cut and style that covered the bald spots. She gave me excellent advice on what products to use during my healing stage, and what products to use when the new hair came in. In less than a year my hair was thick and healthy, and I continue to receive excellent advice and service. Becky makes more money from coloring, but she has encouraged me to allow my natural silver streaks to remain and gives me a glaze that makes the most incredible shine. Erin does an awesome job with my brows and recently I got the lash extensions from her. Amazing! I don't have to wear mascara anymore if I don't want to, but when I do makes my eyes incredible. A lot of people look at me and ask if I've had an eye lift! Also, one of my favorite things is the make-up consultation Becky gave me. She showed me a better way to apply make-up, and she tried colors and techniques I had never considered before. She worked with me until we found a routine, and variations on the routine, I was comfortable with. Kristen gives an utterly AMAZING scalp massage and blow-out. Today I'm trying a mani-pedi in the new nail spa area they have created. I know it will be perfect, everything there always is! read more
