The original store was once ran by Michael Cordray's family a century ago. I think it was his great grandfather's brother. Nonetheless, it's now an amazing ice cream shop with all the vintage feels to it. I should specify that it's a rolled ice cream shop and the perfect treat after a day at the beach or a stroll through town. Lots of mix-ins to choose from to help make your rolled ice cream treat as delicious and unqiue as you are.

We were staying at the Mansard House and out of nowhere I got hit with a serious sweet tooth. Of…read morecourse it had to happen on our last night before flying home... and I was NOT trying to drive far. So I hop online, start searching, and find this little spot. Then I realize... it's like 250 feet away. I'm talking "we could've crawled there if needed" distance. Say less. It was Easter night so we weren't even sure if they'd be open, but we walked over anyway and got lucky. We were greeted by the sweetest lady ever. She had that classic Texas accent and was super friendly. We ended up chatting with her for a bit while trying to figure out what to order (because everything looked good). I went with the Beach B and my wife got the Banana Pudding. Both were amazing. Sweet, cold, and exactly what we needed. It definitely hit the spot. Also love that we got to support a local business instead of some big chain. We're already planning to be back in Galveston in January--and staying at the Mansard House again--so yeah... we'll 100% be back here too.

From display case after display case filled with various chocolates and candies, to bins overflowing with colorful saltwater taffy, and machines busy making fresh popcorn and warm roasted nuts there's no shortage of sweet treats. You can stop by the classic soda fountain, or pick up something vintage ice cream counter, and even find a spot to pick up tea or coffee, this gem truly has it all. But I locked in and managed to walk away with only 4. We ordered a Cherry, Pumpkin, Peach and Sausage Maple Bacon. They all ranged from good to great, with pumpkin being my absolute favorite. I wish we had been able to heat up the savory one, but we had nearly a 2 hour drive home ahead of us and no chance to wait that long to actually devour it. There are many great Kolache places in Greater Houston, but this is one of the best that I've found.
