Located in the small community of Evia, Sugar Bean Coffee and Cream is an incredibly cute & aesthetic coffee shop. The cafe features plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well as easy parking either on the street or a lot behind the storefronts. Plenty of customers were busy studying or working, giving it a cozy atmosphere. While cute, the menu availability was rather disappointing. A good potion of the items that were listed on the back of the menu were either no longer offered or unavailable. I had been looking forward to ordering a Seasonal Smoothie Bowls, only to discover it was no longer offered since Basin Bistro next door now offers them instead. They were also out of fruit for the smoothies. In the end I was able to order a smoothie substitute. read more

Really cute small quaint coffee shop! Felt like it was a different vibe than Galveston. This place was clean and aesthetically pleasing. They had a small menu, but you can definitely get your coffee fixed here. Plenty of seating inside and outside! They do have some pastries as well. You order at the bar and wait for your order. It's a cute little coffee shop that has a wide selection of drinks and a few sweet treats to accompany them. They offer alternative milk options so I like getting a hot cocoa with oat milk. Absolutely loved it here. It's super cute. They were super sweet and their menu is really great as well. My only criticism is the way that they give the drinks out. On our way to the Mardi Gras parade Sunday morning, I made a quick stop for a King Cake frappé and wow, it was creamy, festive, and gave me the perfect boost to kick off the day! I absolutely love the location, and the vibe is everything. I even popped into the shop next door and found the most beautiful earrings. The aesthetic is charming, cozy, and fun, and everyone was so complimentary of our Mardi Gras gear, which made the experience even sweeter. Unfortunately some time in 2026 a new employee was hired who is unfriendly and is completely a mismatch with the vibe and warmth of this establishment. We usually let it go but today she was worse than usual in her unfriendly, sour way and became downright hostile. When ordering, I asked about why so rude, she had a fit, stomped off, and said she would not wait on me. Wrong answer! She should have said she did not realize she was unfriendly and apologized. I took my business elsewhere. Absolutely love Sugar Bean. Been going since Labor Day weekend in 2025 and ever since moving to the island. They have great coffee and are a friendly crew until now. Love local businesses too. We easily spend hundreds a month here. Coffee is our vice. This employee cannot be helping business. Sadly, this young woman is going to struggle all her life if she does not experience an attitude shift. This is more than being shy. She exudes unhappiness and meanness. Visited this place on a Wednesday morning. It wasn't busy. The place itself is really cute and photogenic. There are little toys, jewelry, shirts, etc to buy besides consumables. The man behind the counter was nice and courteous. He was also very patient with the couple ahead of us who couldn't decide what they wanted after the employee let them know they were out of half & half. (Kinda strange for a coffee place in the morning, but it happens.) I wanted a strawberry and banana smoothie, but I was told they were out of the items to make smoothies. I thought it was strange to be out of items for smoothies as well as half & half in the middle of the week. I ended up getting the smallest size of jasmine green tea they do as well as a brownie to take back to my 10 year old. The total was $8. My tea was okay. It was very hot though and took awhile to cool down to a decent temp to drink it. My kid liked the brownie. While this is a cute little coffee shop, and the man behind the counter was nice, I probably wouldn't go back. I came to this coffee shop today and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with one of the staff members, Camila. From the moment I ordered my drink, her energy and attitude felt off -- she seemed irritated and kept giving me uncomfortable looks. When I tried to sit at a table that had an outlet so I could get some work done, she told me that area wasn't open to customers. I explained there were no other seats with outlets available, and all she said was "sorry," in a tone that felt dismissive, like she didn't care or want to help. At that point, I didn't even feel comfortable staying anymore. I had just ordered a matcha and ended up leaving it there untouched. I could've asked for a refund, but honestly, I didn't even want to bother -- the whole experience just left a bad feeling. I truly wanted to enjoy my time here, but the lack of kindness and basic customer care made it hard to feel welcome. I understand we all have bad days -- maybe she was having one today -- and I genuinely hope she finds some love, peace, or joy soon, because energy like that doesn't come from nowhere. Hopefully management helps ensure all customers are treated with more warmth and understanding in the future. read more

I've been here once or twice to study before, and it is in my top 3 coffee shops to be productive in Galveston. The ambiance is really sophisticated and a lot of nice decor throughout the cafe. There is a lot of seating available and an entire back room with one long dining table, making it perfect for a large study group. I'm not a big coffee person, but the sticky bun latte was amazing and perfectly sweet for me. 5.27.22 On the way back home we stopped here for some coffee and pastries for our drive home. The coffees was good and we all bought different pastries. We had a croissant, orange cranberry muffin and (I think) bacon spinach feta pastry. They were all very good. The atmosphere was so serene. The pond had a lot of turtles and wildlife. We love the peaceful area. They are also dog friendly. My daughters dog was really happy to be included. I am taking off one star because the staff did not know if the pastries had nuts. Saying they might or I don't know is not helpful to someone with a food allergy. All staff members should know what they are selling. I know that 2 of the employees were being trained but the "trainer" should know this. (Due to this - that's why I ate a plain croissant) read more

I typically have an iced latte and my loved ones enjoy their sweet seasonal beverage options. The baristas are typically pleasant and know how to make their beverages well. The have many dairy free and caffeine free options, too. The seating (indoor and outdoor) is abundant and with a diverse crowd when we have gone. Families, students, travelers, etc. Sugar Bean is in a cute, colorful subdivision and it is next to shops and restaurants that also look appealing. The baked goods and sweets are very creative though too sugary for my taste. Loved ones really like them, so its personal preference! The parking is fairly easy as well. The residents of the subdivision walking their dogs have said hello when we were sitting outside. The area around Sugar Bean is walkable and has a small lake. Great place! read more
