I had an extremely mixed experience at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital and I honestly don't know how I feel about the overall visit. I came here a few weeks ago because I was having severe vertigo while in New Hampshire and the walk in clinic I was at a few days prior told me to go to an Emergency Room in a few days if symptoms remained or had gotten worse. I came here at around 9AM on a Thursday and the lobby was completely dead when I came in. I was able to check in, get a private room, and start speaking with the nurses pretty fast. In my first two hours at the hospital I was hooked up to an IV, drew blood, had all my basic tests taken, and even went in to get a cat scan. The nurses were extremely friendly throughout my visit and I have zero complaints about the first few hours. Once I was done getting a cat scan, I was sent back to my room and that's where I sat with zero communication, zero water, and zero updates for three hours as I sat dizzy in a room. Once 2:30PM rolled around, the doctor finally entered the room and was not very friendly at all. She would say a couple of things and whenever I tried to respond for clarification she would just got irritated and cut me off, making it kind of hard to actually process what was going on or fully understand. Once she finished talking, she basically just left and I was back to being alone waiting for a nurse who I was able to ask a few questions to and get actual clarification. Overall, my visit to Frisbie Memorial Hospital left a pretty 50/50 taste in my mouth. The doctor wasn't very friendly and insisted multiple times that the most important thing I could do was stay hydrated even though I was left without water for the last 6 hours, so who knows. The hospital itself was fairly clean, the nurses were friendly when dealing with me, and even though my experience wasn't ideal, this is the main hospital for the area since medical centers aren't exactly all over the place in New Hampshire. My only recommendation is for the doctors to be a little more helpful when talking to people with Autism, because that one interaction ruined an entire week for me. read more

I recently spent 7 hours in the emergency room here with my mom, whom was brought in by ambulance from a neighboring town. It took 6 of those hours to go by before we saw an actual doctor. The rest of the time we were seen by a hostile, snobby nurse, who would only say "I don't know when you'll see the doctor" or "I don't know what any of your results are." The room itself was filthy, there were brown stains all over the floors and in the corners, the amount of dust and debris on the ceiling/vents and on the medical equipment hanging from the ceiling was appalling. For a hospital, a place that is supposed to be sanitary, I'm not sure how this amount of filth is allowed. I understand the entire world is short staffed, but come on. read more

I got a colonoscopy recently and I loved my nurse! He was super friendly and understanding, especially with my fear of needles! He had to try and grab a blood sample and while it was unsuccessful he knew that it wasn't important enough to cause my anxieties to spike (I was in the process of passing out the entire time he was trying)! I was impressed here and there. What happened towards the end of my stay greatly determined my low rating I'm sorry to say. The pharmacy stated that they did not have the type of medication I needed for the right dose of that type of medication so therefore I went without. I waited till later in the day and when I mentioned it I was told by one of the RNs "you should've brought your own medication in. ""Did I know I was going to have to sleep over when I was in the ER? Didn't this RN know when she said that it's against the rules to bring in your own RX? Why didn't the pharmacy seek to provide for me the patient? The effects of my not being able to have my Rx greatly affects me especially for two days afterwards it needs time to catch up so I called the hospitalist from my room his reply? " what do you want ME to do about it!" He replied coldly. I said you are a hospitalist aren't you? Next: the two RNs in charge of me tell me I was gonna have to wait to be discharged I was already there one night and now it was approaching 4 PM there was no reason for me to stay there or they trying to keep me over another night? Well after I spoke with the hospitalist he saw to it that I was discharged ASAP. It's a good thing my husband promptly arrived with my Rx had they kept me for another night I would've gone two days without my Rx. What is wrong with this place? There was a broken down wheelchair used to wheel me to my room from the ER but then they use the same broken down wheelchair to wheel me out to the parking lot to meet my husband. The dietitian was wonderful as was the food server, the ER staff, and a couple others. But overall this experience was traumatic for me it's soured me and I will never return there unless it's an absolute life or death to the ER but never never overnight I will be transferred to WWDH or PRH. NEVER again. Unprofessional, dispassionate, they falsified a report saying that they had given me the RX which they did not when I checked in the portal later on for my records. SNAFU. read more

I recently spent a few nights in frisbies ED, not by choice. Got transported by ambulance after collapsing I which was a surreal experience. Very kind and professional paramedics from Stewart's gently convinced me I needed higher level care, and it turns out I really did. Holy moly the frisbie staff, all of them are creating safe miraculous healing spaces with little to resources. I've only been in an Er/Ed one other time, and the nurses, the medics, the techs, the doctors are amazing, and quite frankly a little scary. Their competence and nonchalance and acceptance of the crazy is utterly impressive. I believe they saved my life without me realizing it for a few days. I was treated very well. I will say it's the wild Wild West there. I was lucky enough/sick enough to require a private room. I thank the powers that be for that, as it was a fight club at night. I have never been around so many attentive police and sheriffs deputies in my life. They are managing pretty well I think in this crazy time. read more

I will spend the next few weeks, once I feel better finding out who is in charge at the upper level of FMH. If not for my friend caring for me, as I NEVER saw a nurse. My friend had to walk me to the potty SEVERAL times, I practically BEGGED for a piece of foam for my back, as I have spine disease. I was NOT there for pain meds, let's be clear. I was taken in after HOURS of vomiting. Not one blood test was done. I was put in an ice cold room. The doctor was nice, and said I could not go home until I drank water & ate a little. The water? My friend had to finally ask for it after 2 hours. I never saw a cracker. My FRIEND CLEANED my commode, after it never was brought to me. My friend had to go practically beg for one. Finally some guy unlocked a door across from my room where the commode were! How DARE we donate money, and allow an almost 64 yr. Old woman in poor health to begin with, SUFFER as I did. I had slipped SO far down in my bed the NURSE did not get another nurse but had my friend take one side of me, my injured arn, and help lift me? IS THIS HOSPITAL INCAPABLE OF HELPING THOSE OF U.S. WITH SPINE DISEASE I had NO call button. When my friend I arrived, I was so cold my body was trembling/twitching......Left alone not even a pillow. They said it was nothing .and sent her home .. she had to return ,because it got worse. So then they told her She had Marissa so She got all of the medication they told her . I really enjoy the culture at Frisbie Hospital. I have been a clinical instructor for several years and I continue to bring my students here for clinicals because the facility and staff are so amazing! From the minute you walk in, no matter where you are, you are greeted with a hello and a smile. Walking down the halls people I don't even know smile at me and say hello. It is a very warm and welcoming environment, and when you're coming to a hospital, whether that is because you are a patient or a family member or friend visiting a patient, that is a very important factor! They are very big on customer service here and making the patient the number one priority. They stress not only meeting patient expectations but exceeding them. And I do feel that they generally accomplish that across the board. Frisbie is a small community hospital, but they have a lot of resources and are fairly close to other area hospitals in the event that they need to transfer a patient to a facility with more resources. There is adequate parking and they have a shuttle to and from the employee lot across the street in the winter. They have a gift shop where you can buy pretty much anything your heart desires! I have bought several Christmas gifts here and also several things for myself! The cafeteria/food selection is definitely top notch compared to other area hospitals. They always have the grill open for food item such as hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, quesadillas (which they make themselves...SO GOOD), etc. They have an "action station" which is usually the special item of the day and is a make-to-order type of thing; they've had pasta bowls, stir fry, various types of wraps, etc here in the past. They always have two types of pizza which they make themselves as well, and they have the ability to make sandwiches, or you can get something from the extensive salad bar. They have lots of healthy options, which is great! They have many tables inside the cafeteria but they also have an outdoor seating area off the main cafeteria which has it's own herb garden! Overall, the general atmosphere at Frisbie is lovely and very welcoming. If (god forbid) one of my relatives or friends were admitted here, I feel this would be a very safe place for them to be. read more

I would give this zero stars or negative stars if I could. My father was taken to the ER last night in the worst pain he's ever had. They ran test and concluded it was Pancreatitis. Then they sent him home after giving him Morphine! No follow up, no after care, nothing! He is now at Wentworth Douglas because the pain is so bad. They are admitting him and running more tests, and have noticed he has stress on his heart from the pain. Frisbee is the worst hospital. It's unbelievable they would send him home in his condition. read more

My daughter just had her 3rd child here and had requested her mother be there at the birth with she and her husband as they both have anxiety and was worried it being his first child that he may pass out, but they refused to allow her though she was vaccinated. They would not even allow her to be out in the maternity ward waiting area by herself so her daughter would know she was close but would only allow her to wait in the ER waiting area with the sick. They would not give her reasoning for what harm it would do to be upstairs outside the in the waiting area of the maternity ward itself for her daughters piece of mind except that it was hospital policy and yet the next day would allow her INSIDE the ward itself in their room after birth. I feel they owe the daughter an apology they're lack of patient respect and piece of mind during this time. The mother refused to even return to the hospital at all. Why would she when they called security on her for asking a valid question on their ignorance. I went to the Frisbee Memorial Hospital's ER Thursday evening, pretty scared. There was one person in the waiting room, then me. I was called in probably 4 minutes later, admitted to a room and seen right away. After about an hour, they wheeled me up to a room where I endured the typical pokes, withdrawals, prods and visits from staff. The doctor came in and told me my surgery was scheduled first thing in the a.m. Now the real terror set in as this was my first major surgery in my 50s. From start to finish, it actually went pretty fast. Everyone was kind and one was actual quite warm as she held my hand while I went under. (I wish they had names in the aftercare so I could thank them individually) The anesthesiologist was great and explained everything. And Dr. Morgan, was succinct (that's a personal favorite trait of mine), quick - no dilly dallying with him (another fav trait), and I was done! Total stay: 2.25 days. NOW...I moved here from California 3 years ago, where I lived, in a big city, for 35 years and LET ME TELL YOU...THIS was like the Taj Mahal. 97% of the staff I dealt with were wonderful, 2% were busy and 1% was funnily rude. (Not intentional, which is what made me laugh. And not you, Angela...you were plain funny.) My healing is normal and I am better & stronger for this experience. Thank you, FMH!!! read more

I am VERY disappointed with Frisbie's handling of White Mt. Medical. A few weeks ago I needed to see my practioner. Not only was she not available, apparently my care was so inconsequential that no one else on staff could fit me in. The recommendation-drive over an hour to an urgent care facility in Dover or Alton. Then, today, I go to the lab for ordered blood work to find out that the only lab tech called in sick this morning and the lab is closed. And won't be open tomorrow unless she feels better, and then will be closed until Aug. 30. Obviously care of your patients not in Rochester is not important to you - this is very disappointing, And I'm wondering when you plan to write us off completely. Deb Gauthier read more

Since moving to the area in February of 2020, I have been to this hospital several times; a COVID19 test, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, monthly blood work and monthly infusions. I have always been very happy with the care that I received. The staff has always been extraordinarily friendly and courteous. They have always left me feeling confident with the quality of care that I have received. I recently had a significant billing problem and my care team quickly identified the issue and worked to get it resolved. That has not been my experience with other hospitals and previous billing problems. I am pleased with my care at Frisbie and will continue my treatment there. read more

A patient presented themselves to Dr.Potter checking every single box on SEVERE DEHYDRATION. The 100lb patient could barely think, talk, walk, or stand, pain in abdomen, shaking violently. Spent the whole previous day in the sun. Dr. Potter came into the room for 30 seconds, looked the patient up and down and said the very only thing he was going to do was give the patient ginger ale and nausea medication. He didn't check the abdomen what so ever despite the patient feeling horrible pain there. Then when I asked the nurse why zofram was being given for severe dehydration. The doctor came in very very unprofessionally and defensively and started arguing with me that ginger ale and zofram was the cure or severe severe dehydration. I'd like to point out I am the opposite of a confrontational person. Hate to cause a scene, hate to argue. But what was happening was pure medical neglect. I've noticed at frisbee if the patient has free insurance or none you get treated like bottom priority regardless of severity. Refusing to check this patients abdomen, to me, screams MALPRACTICE. I could tell some nurses I spoke to agreed with me, and tried getting more help but this doctors EGOmade it so we had to go to wentworth Douglas to make sure the patients organs weren't failing. (Doctors there agreed intravenous fluids were absolutely necessary.) the medication this doctor gave to the patient- stops nausea. It doesn't even stop vomiting in its tracks. wouldn't even give something to stop the severely dehydrated patient from expelling whatever little hydration they had. Good job doc. Job well done for today?! His demeanor was disgusting and in that moment his sole duty was nOt to treat the dehydration. it was to judge WHY the patient had become dehydrated. Went here for 2 years and it was okay, never had the same OBGYN sadly. Then I went in for some simple bloodwork, they first tried putting me inpatient because of I'm always suicidal. Then when I finally got my bloodwork done an hour later they never ran the tests. It's messed up, if you know of a good OBGYN then please let me know. read more

I brought my infant son there who was not having wet diapers for the plus hours. Prior to going I called the on call nurse for his doctors off because it was at 3am I woke to change him and he was dry; so that was 10 hours of a dry diaper, the on call nurse advised me he needed to be seen at the er and would need an iv because of little to not urine output in over 8 hours. When I arrived the er doctors seemed to care less and told me that they were concerned with dry diapers unless it reached 14/16 hours. Told me to not feed my 5 month old for 24 hours, and if needed give him only 8oz of pedialyte throughout the day. They also diagnosed him with GERD which I told them when I got there he was diagnosed with that at a month on and only daily medicine for it. It was maybe a 30 minute visit, between walking in the door, waiting and leaving. Within 15 hours we were at wentworth Douglas hospital being treated, they administered an iv and did tons of test and we didn't leave for 7 hours because they wanted to make sure he was ok and taken care of. I will forever prefer WDH over frisbee and I will spread the word of how uncaring and inconsiderate they were. read more

Emergency room staff wheeled me into a room, barely addressed my ailment, left me alone unable to move with no call button in reach. Came back to give me 2 anti inflammatory pills, and didn't even wait for me to take them before leaving and not answering questions I had. Left me sitting again, I had to use my cell phone to call my ride in the parking lot to have them come in and brought to where I was which they were unsure of what room I was in because they thought they had discharged me already, they hadn't. After my ride got to my room they came in about 10 minutes later to discharge me, with zero relief of my pain and didn't even ask if I was feeling any better. I ended up going to a different ER and they spoke to Frisbie and got told that I was seeking a narcotic prescription which was not the case. The second ER addressed my pain and took care of me in the ER and made sure my pain was lessened before discharging me, like an ER is supposed to do. So basically Frisbie ER assumed I was some sort of pill addict which couldn't be further from the truth and since they had made their minds up, they didn't care to treat me. I'll never go there again. If it were life or death I'd rather die on my way to WDH than to ever go back to FMH. Worst experience I've ever had with healthcare "professionals". Avoid going here and make the extra 12-15 minutes to Dover where they actually give a damn about people. read more

Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester NH is by far the worst hospital I have EVER been to. From the moment you walk into the place until months after your visit they suck!! Seriously, DO NOT go to this hospital if you have ANY OTHER choice go there! Their BILLING is criminal as far as I can tell. They kept billing us for thousands of dollars and I had to "prove" to them several times that my insurance covered everything I was legally required to pay. Done, right? Wrong! You owe us $28.00 for this. Paid. Wait, that $28.00 went to your husbands account, we need another payment of $28.00 to be applied to your account. Paid. Oh wait, that was for a visit in October, this $28.00 is for November. News flash, we moved OUT OF THE STATE, Thank God, in November. My husband was brought in for severe trauma to the head. The doctors nurses and staff treated him with the most disrespect I have ever heard of. He wasn't drunk or disorderly, he wasnt causing trouble or being rude to staff. He had a severe concussion, he was scared and alone and I couldn't get to him for lack of a vehicle. They treated him like he wasn't even human and like he didn't deserve compassion. He couldn't get to the bathroom on his own and he asked for help, the nurse told him he "was a big boy and could do it on his own." He didn't have a call button and was crying for help and the nurses were all at the nurses station laughing together ignoring him. They were not gentle with him when bringing him to get a catscan, severe head trauma and they let his head hit the table. His lip was ripped up and he heard one nurse say to another, "I don't know if thats a cut or herpes, but be careful don't touch it" in a disgusted voice. He even asked if he was rude or mean or angry toward them when he got there to make them treat him that way, they said no. He didn't receive paperwork upon leaving about his visit or what to do about his injuries, he never signed any paperwork. I have never been more disgusted with a hospital in my existence. If I were in need of immediate medical attention, I'd risk going to a hospital farther away than go to Frisbee Memorial Hospital. Inhuman treatment is NOT a good quality in hosptal staff anywhere. My husband is a good man, and my world, and they treated him like he was worthless....I would have given no stars but its not an option. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital. My son went to the pediatrician to get his hearing checked, because his speech is delayed. They tried to check his hearing, but with a two year old it is nearly impossible to get them to sit still long enough. In a nutshell they couldn't do it, and I was feeling like I just wasted time and money, because I pay out of pocket for my medical expenses (I have no insurance because my husband works for a small company that doesn't cover myself and my son's medical expenses). The doctor after realizing this talked to the head of the department and got our charges waved. I have never seen a Hospital care about their patients like this. My son is going to Rochester Pediatrics for as long as they'll have us. Thank you, I meant so much that you put patients first instead of money! read more

Beware of Frisbie and their practices. I had the same primary care for years. This last visit the doctor informed me she was moving to another practice and also that Family care of Somersworth was closing their doors. (Not sure if they're open now). I went for my regular yearly physical which is covered by my insurance for free. I was also seen in a different office building over by Skyhaven Airport because of the practice closing their doors. I got a bill for services that the doctor didn't tell me was covered at my visit. Also for services I never had...a sleep test? I tried talking to the hospital billing department which they informed me to write a letter to risk management. I went ahead and did that. I was still stuck with the $60+ bill and a hand written scribbled letter back from Frisbie Hospital saying it was a different service they were charging me for. So what is it? They said one thing then turned around and said another thing ( very unprofessional) and then my bill was sent to collections. Watch what they charge you for!!! read more

My daughter sat in the emergency room for almost 3 hours to be served. Granted my daughters priority was low and the hospital had priority patients it is still outragous that a person is LEFT sitting in a waiting room for such a long time. What should HAPPEN after say 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours Frisbee staff should say WE cant serve you in an acceptable manner and suggest you go to Wentworth Douglass or Porstsmouth or some place where you can be treated in a timely manner. I called the Night nurse manager when my daughter neared the 3 hour mark in her frustrating wait and I was told the pateint always has the option to leave and go some where else ....... Realy !!! Well I think the hospital when thay taken and accepted the patient information has an obligation to either treat the patient in a timely manner or tell the patient it cannot do so and suggest another facility. I have no doubt and am as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow that Frisbee Memorial hospital will send my daughter her bill in a most timely and efficient manner and if there is a problem will in an efficient and timely manner chase her to the bowels of hell if she is late making her payment... so why cant they provide ... what they expect to e paid for inthe same manner. This place is absolutely repulsive. Just got back from having my fiancé getting checked for abdominal pain and there is a patient with mental health issues in the room across the hall who clearly has something personal going on in his life. A nurse walks by drops her clipboard on the floor and picks it up bangs the clipboard off her head three times and says " I'm going to end up in that room" and laughs as she walks away. Right in front of the kids room. How unprofessional this place is actually shocks me. As a human being with previous mental health issues this is absolutely disgusting to me and they should not be working there. For someone to take someone's mental health as a joke or to make fun of is absolutely repulsive I suggest you do not go to frisbee hospital for just about anything considering this isn't the first bad experience with nurses. Last time my fiancé was in she pushed the call button they waited a good ten minutes to get to her while she can hear the two nurses talking outside the room going on a rant about the majority of her patients are drug addicts and then finally says that she should probably go check on her patient. This place is a joke and If you would like to be taken seriously I'd go elsewhere. Honestly I'd rather get hit by a truck and die a slow painful death then go here ever again. You have better chances of removing your own kidney yourself then going there honestly this place doesn't even deserve a star rating.. read more
