I recently had surgery here, had to spend the night and I had a great experience with the staff on 3S. The nurses and nurses assistants were all attentive, caring, and genuine. My pre op experience was a little less than stellar. My check in nurse was very distracted, mumbled a lot while reading over my charts and pre op questionnaire, she also asked questions over and over again because she was so distracted that she couldn't remember if she had asked them already. The facility was clean and quiet. Overall pretty happy with my time spent here. read more

We went to WD hoping to see a gastroenterologist but one wasn't available. However, the ER doctor mentioned a disease involving mairijuana that was not mentioned by the previous doctor. He had been using it to help with his symptoms but that was actually the CAUSE of his illness! If this doctor had not know about this rare disease, my son would have continued to suffer and gotten worse. We are forever grateful to the Wentworth Douglas Emergency Room for Diagnosing my son's illness! If your loved one dies in this hospital- two words: autopsy / toxicology. Only after you receive the medical records will you understand the impact of these two words. This hospital must do better. Do not expect them to give you details of what happened, what medications were administered- No, the shock of it all is when you read the word, "Narcan" and there is no way your elderly loved one who was hospitalized for a month at this hospital overdosed on street drugs. No, the medical record explains exactly what happened- one of the most powerful drugs in the world given to an elderly patient, despite black box warnings and contraindications. My mother stayed a week at WD Hospital. She had dementia but they wouldnt allow a family member to stay overnight with her even though she had a private room. This was traumatic for my mother and they also took her to do tests even though she needed the emotional support. Their rules state that vulnerable people can have people sleep over but the head nurse broke those rules and my mom suffered for it. I only realized later that there were exceptions to the visiting hours rules. But the hospital customer service department defended this action and covered it up. They have no policies and procedures in place to treat people with dementia. There is no humanity in this hospital towards people with dementia. read more

Last evening (October 25, 2023), I went with my daughter and her boyfriend to visit my grandson in the NICU.  Since his birth on September 16, 2023, I have only been able to visit approximately five times due to planned vacations.  The day of his birth, I believe there were behavioral issues with the baby's father and possibly my daughter, the baby's mother.  On arrival to the hospital on that day (September 16), my oldest daughter and I were told we would need to be wanded.  Having no clue as to why we were being treated as criminals, we acquiesced as my time was limited as I was flying out the next day. Upon arriving back from my vacations, I visited approximately three more times (without being wanded) before the abhorrent behavior of your staff last evening.  I went with the babys parents to visit the baby last night, one for myself, and secondly, it is my understanding that they are not able to visit him alone.  As I was under the impression that I no longer needed to be wanded, I went to the receptionist desk and two young girls told me no that was not the case.  I decided that I would not be violated so I started to return to my vehicle.  My daughter and the baby's father went to the security office with myself present, and the security officer told me "no, I did not need to be wanded".  So, we went back up and were able to start to visit my grandson.  Shortly into the visit, a nurse and the same security guard interrupted my visit with the baby and told me no you need to be wanded.  I refused and said I would leave.  As I was sitting outside in the waiting area unbeknownst to the receptionists, I heard them discuss me and the situation.  I spoke to them that I could hear them and how unprofessional they were.  There was a young girl and a woman who said her son was a cop. By the way, if an assistant of mine spoke openly about a parent where I work, she would be fired immediately.  After that I left not to return. I completely (and whole heartedly) agree that if there is a safety issue with my daughter and her boyfriend, then fine, wand them.  But what did I do that was criminal or unsafe??? I am the daughter of a career police officer, hold a degree in paralegal studies and lead the most boring life of a sixty-year-old woman!  Not to mention that the father's mother is able to visit without being wanded.  I would expect the same courtesy that she receives if not more. As someone who works in an office environment, your rules are extremely capricious and arbitrary.  For three visits, no one said a word to me, and I was able to visit my grandson without intrusion.  One minute I am a danger, another I am not!   Additionally, last time I checked, I am innocent until proven guilty in this country.  I did absolutely nothing wrong and should not be treated in such a way.  What I am even more disappointed in is that I am being discriminated against as my daughter and her boyfriend are drug addicts.  Sorry, but I do not drink, do drugs or break any laws! Additionally, I expect that I will receive a proper apology for such humiliating behavior on the part of your staff.  As I told your receptionists last evening, I will be leaving negative reviews on social media.  I also will be checking with an attorney to see if any of my civil rights were violated. read more

At the first sign of trouble I saw my primary care doctor who sent me for a colonoscopy. I was misdiagnosed and sent to a general surgeon and told "It's nothing major. When the pain gets bad enough, come back in and we will schedule a surgery". I lasted over a year and a half and couldn't take it any more. When I went to schedule the surgery I was forwarded to a different general surgeon who scoped me and told me" It's not that bad" and dismissed my pain. Two weeks later I saw a GI surgeon in Portland and was told "This is not good". It ended up being stage two cancer and the tumor was very large. For convenience I tried to set up my chemotherapy at WDH, but they couldn't start my treatment for 5 weeks. My doctor in Portland was having non of that and got me set up at New England Cancer Specialists within a week. I believe I would be dead if I had not gone to Portland Gastro. I no longer use the WDH system. read more

ER staff are rude and very condescending. After I was admitted to an actual room, I was treated kindly, however, in the ER, the staff were the worst I ever dealt with. I am NOT a frequent flyer to hospitals but can guarantee I would never visit that ED again! The ER female Dr was great, but my nurse and the other nurses behind the workstations were too caught up in their own gossip to tend to the patients. My nurse, in particular, made me feel as if I was a bother bc I needed assistance getting to the restroom. And apparently asking for a blanket after freezing for 8 hrs in a cold ER room is too much to ask. Then, they have the audacity to re-write the "notes" of my visit on my Portal to suit their narratives instead of speaking the truth! I'm not speaking of ALL nursing staff in the ER, but 3 specifically, as I had the "privilege" of being held up so long in the ER that there were shift changes and therefore changes to who was "assisting" me. All I heard throughout my 10+ hrs waiting for a room to be available was the nurses chatting about their personal/social lives. I intend to file a complaint but doubt it will change anything. read more

This place needs to be investigated by the proper authorities who actually give a damn about patients and stop protecting hospitals that employ crappy, incompetent staff. Relative was hospitalized in ICU for a month. Visiting hours start in late morning hours. By the time you get there, and are finally buzzed to come back to visit, many of the nurses, not all, but many are clueless and/or rude. If you wanna speak to the doctor who treated your hospitalized relative, it's too late. They have already left. The nurses always say they will "get in touch with the Dr. Blah Blah" and never do and will never follow up even when you chase their lazy butts down. What I can not understand, is how a doctor can "talk" to a patient who is intubated and not follow up with the family members. I mean, did the intubated patient answer all their questions? Tell then exaclty where it hurts or what they are feeling with a tube in their trachea? So, basically our relative had one-sided assessments without any follow/up with the family. In the month that our relative was in the ICU, I actually spoke with an actual doctor 5-6 times. In the ICU this happens. How is that good medicine? No one has any idea what is going on there. The nurses don't know, "doctors" conveniently leave before family members can visit or get through on the phone to get any updates. When medical charts are requested, the most important events are missing. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR RECORDS WHEN YOU GET THEM (if you ever do). A catastrophic event that occured while our relative was hospitalized there, led to their death. And NO ONE, not one of these so-called professionals can tell you what actually happened when it goes down, but there it is in the medical records. And you can expect to get those records in a little less than a year. And there are some drugs that should never be given to some patients. That is medicine 101. Guess these incompetent "nurses/doctors" did not take this course. Probably got their license online from the way they do things. And if you lose a loved one that was unfortunate to end up here for whatever reason, GET AN AUTOPSY/Toxicology report, something! Don't let shock of what happened cloud your thinking like we did. This was the case until alarms wentnoff when we got the death certificate following cremation. What was on our relatives death certificate DOES NOT match what the "doctors" said they died of. No apologies, explanations, nothing. Guess they had to get back on instagram or TikTok or whatever's they do that keeps them from properly treating patients that need help. Maybe someday these people or even their loved ones may end up getting the exact same treatment by another crappy hospital with crappy staff. They know who they are when they read this. Too bad I had to write it. And the worst part, we can never get back our loved one. I hate to think of how they suffered there. And these people couldn't care any less than they do. read more

Went to Wentworth Douglas hospital in Dover today to pick up a person being discharged. I was told that I'd have to wear one of their surgical mask. I complied and put their mask on over mine. They told me I'd have to completely remove my mask and put theirs on. I complied and then pulled my mask on over it essentially wearing double the protection. I have a large beard and by doing this it pulls the bottom of the mask tight against my face. They told me that it wasn't allowed and I wouldn't be allowed in the hospital. I asked them ( still in a professional tone of voice) why me wearing extra protective gear was not allowed. They called security who started harassing me asking my name and other information of a personal nature as if he was a police detective and I was accused of murder. When I refused to cooperate with his Interrogation I was escorted around the hospital by him until my patient was picked up and we left the building. As we left the ladies at the front profusely thanked the security guard ( who was wearing full tactical vest) as if I'd been the uni bomber No common sense by the staff and I'm embarrassed. I used to be a big fan of WWDH until MA General took over. The day before Thanksgiving I go in for an Upper Endoscopy w/ Doctor Sean Lynch mid-day. I was delayed because the instructions given to me prior to were wrong and I had not fasted properly for the procedure to happen. Two hours later I signed the anesthesia release form just before a nurse inserted a green plastic protection piece in my mouth w/ a strap. Then came the anesthesia. My procedure took less than 30 minutes. As I sat in my recovery room, I noticed my tooth was broken. My wife took a photo, and we reported it to my nurse Eva who was great. She brings in another nurse who questions if I had photos of my mouth before the procedure. Huh? Within a very short time I was released and told someone would contact me after Thanksgiving weekend. I was rushed out w/ no exit interview or any paperwork, nor did anyone claim they did something wrong or apologize. As my wife & I was in the lobby calling my dentist for an emergency appointment, my nurse Eva called and said that she found pieces of my tooth in the bedding while she was turning the room. We immediately retrieved it from her. The following week I had not heard from anyone, so I contacted the head nurse for the Endoscopy department, Melinda. Since then, I have been told that I signed the anesthesia waiver and my incident falls under that and WWDH MA General will not do anything to help. I am looking at a cost of $2593 to correct this. I have yet to get any type of apology from anyone except my nurse, nor have I received any exit paperwork. I find this very disturbing that a facility like this who overcharges for everything it does, and has crazy insurance for situations like mine, will do NOTHING! So when someone dies on an operating table at WWDH do they tell the family - Well they signed the waiver, we can't do anything. read more

Mean time you are starving to death waiting in a small waiting where sick people are coughing like crazy. I could care less if this hospital merge with Mass general. I hated that hospital too. Now we am stuck in a room trying to get someone to release my mom. This is not called care. We are hungry and want to leave. They keep saying someone will be with us which means we wait another hour. The Integrative Therapies practice at the Seacoast Cancer Center is a very charitable side of Wentworth Douglass that is a complete surprise to anyone who is in need of cancer therapy. I'd never heard of oncology massage before, but it's a light touch. Lauren Roberts works at the Portsmouth satellite center of the Dover WD Hospital. She is a delight. Lauren's best asset is her friendliness and her ability to read whatever you're feeling. She left a very lucrative career in banking to devote her life to helping people heal, which is unheard of, in this money-grubbing day and age. I wish this were open to everyone in their hour of need. Ask for Lauren, however, as she's more than a therapist. She's fun, sensitive, and will extend her time with you, which is always a plus. read more

ER check in lady with red hair has no manners towards patience's that walk in. She is very short and unfriendly towards folks. You ask a question and she barks at you. You'd think you'd have someone at least who can be sympathetic to folks who come to the ER. I've watched her for hours while waiting for my husband to get seen and Wow the attitude!!! I get folks are seen based on the severity of a problem but y'all could at least check in with the folks that are waiting for long periods of time. read more

I went into WentworthDouglass Hospital for a Hip replacement which I regret I am in worst pain then before the operation This experience was a nightmare and I almost died the first operation was infected to the point of stuff was oozing out of the bandage and pooling on the floor, this got real painful and was brought in for a second operation to clear out the infection again this as well was still infected I was released from the Hospital on a Sat and re admitted on Sun for another operation to clear the infection this was my third operation after being released a week later went to the surgeons office for a follow up and was sent to the emergency room to be admitted again my body went sepic this was on Friday at 3 o'clock Sat morning I called my wife and told her I didn't want to die I didn't want to loose my leg and and ask her to get me to another hospital On Sunday I was transferred to Dartsmouth Hitchcock medical center in Hanover NH On Wednesday I went in for a 4th surgery where all the hardware put in me was removed and temporary hardware put in on my bandage there was only a few drops of blood no puss oozing out like Douglas Wentworth Hospital Six weeks later I went in for a fifth operation to remove temporary hardware and replaced with permanenT hardware again after this fitch operation only a few drops of blood I had almost a years worth of rehabilitation, the scar tissue from five operations is painfull muscles get hard as a rock I would not bring my dog there it was a nightmare from Hell and I'm dam lucky to be alive to post this! read more

4 hr wait in the ER for accidental amputation of finger. Many people with lesser injuries were admitted first through the triage. After 2 hours the adrenaline wore off, shock & pain began to set in. The red haired receptionist said it was the triage doctors call if the patient could receive pain medicine. The triage doctor was busy and could not be disturbed. So the patient sat there, shaking in pain, bleeding for two more hours. One Doctor looked at the wound, not an orthopedic surgeon. There was no on-call surgeon, so we were sent home with blood still pouring from the wound & told a surgeon would call us in the morning. We were informed that if we came back, even due to excessive bleeding, they would not be able to do anything more for us. This is unacceptable for any hospital. We were only there because of proximity and urgency. Also, they don't accept cash at the cafeteria but have installed ATM's in various locations. As an earlier review noted the red haired (vibrant dye) lady at the front desk of the ER lacks soft skills. I understand it's a stressful job, it's also difficult to be in the ER for HOURS waiting to be helped. Not a soul there went for the fun of it. From my experience it shouldn't be called an Emergency Room, it should be called a walk in clinic... and I have received faster, better care at a walk in clinic. Patient is now down a pint of blood; 10% of total body volume, hypovolemic shock is becoming a real threat. 7 hours until we, hopefully, receive a call with an appointment, 8 hours post incident. I'm fairly sure we're going to York Hospital before we get the phone call with the appointment. They have a proper staff that are all amazingly skilled & all surgeons are available anytime, day or night. I highly recommend you go there too. read more

I was in an abusive relationship for years, this is about when he broke my tailbone (one of the million things he did to me), I thought it was just a bruised tailbone, coccyx, & sacrum. I've been in EXCRUCIATING pain for 4 months now. I can't sit, I can't lay down, I can't stand up from sitting or laying down. I can't even carry my purse without extreme pain. I get extreme random flair ups where the pain is INSANE. Pain so extreme and unbearable. I went here while on vacation without insurance because my insurance is only valid in Connecticut. So, I saw Carly Ann Shiembob in the ER. She did not even listen to anything I was saying or explaining. She truly did not care. After trying everything possible outside the hospital, and everything they tried (icy hot & ice) I told them I been doing everything I possibly could. They refused to give me anything more than Motrin. I was recently diagnosed with CHRONIC TRAUMATIC LUMBAR, SACRUM, and COCCYX BACK PAIN FROM TRAUMATIC INJURY! CHRONIC PAIN!!!!!!! I take the max amount of Tylenol and ibuprofen everyday and it used to work occasionally but it's not helping especially during the flair ups of excruciating pain. All the money I put in to this vacation and it was just me and my mom and it was ruined due to my pain. I finally decide to go to an emergency room because it hadn't gone away and should have, took me 6 hours and multiple nurses seeing the pain I was in and going to Carly Ann Shiembob on their own without even speaking to me, just seeing the pain I was in, and they convinced her to give me a 5mg oxycodone, and for the first time in 4 months I had a moment of relief, I cried so much because I thought I would live in this pain from being abused forever and I'm only 26 years old. She kept me there till it wore off and I was back in horrible pain again, I did not sleep in over a week because of the pain, I asked and the nurse also asked her on her own to give me one more 5mg oxy, and then send me home before it wore off so while I had that relief I could get to sleep (send me home with my mom, she was with me, it wasn't like I was driving or alone, my mom was with me). She refused and said she shouldn't have even given me the 5mg oxycodone. I asked to speak to her myself, she came to talk to me 4 hours later right as she was leaving, it was the end of her shift, she was not listening to anything I said, that was clear as day, she said "no and that she shouldn't have given me anything because clearly I'm now addicted after taking ONE 5mg oxycodone." Yet she sent the guy next to me with a painful knee because he fell on it home with a whole script of a lot of oxy. I finally had found something that gave me relief and I did not want a script of it, I just wanted one to take while there and then send me on my way with my mom just to get sleep because I hadn't slept in a week by that point because of the pain, and after trying 100's of things to relieve the broken tailbone for MONTHS, I just couldn't believe I had a short moment of pain relief after having constant, non-stop pain for 4, almost 5 months. I did not want a script. Just one then send me on my way with my mom. I'm on vacation for another 1 & 1/2 weeks here and now I have to be in constant pain and ruin my mom and daughter trip over this. She was THE WORST DOCTOR I EVER CAME IN CONTACT WITH! She refused to listen to me or my mom. She truly did NOT care. She truly should not be a doctor. Do NOT go to this emergency room!!!!!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE! FIRE HER!!!!!!!! SHE DOES NOT CARE AND YOU COULD SEE IT IN HER FACE WHEN I WAS CRYING SHE WAS ROLLING HER EYES AND WOULD NOT HELP!!!! read more

I had my surgery at Wentworth Douglas Hospital almost a year ago. The Surgeon very pleasant and kind to me. Dr. Havelesko came in to check on me everyday. Very kind man. The nurses were very attentive and helped me with everything. I have been in other Emergency Room and have had to wait a long time also...but I know they attend to the most needy first....It has nothing to do with the person. I will go there again if need be. Cardiology and cath lab. Exceptional friendly and professional staff. And lots of them. Sensitive to privacy. Accommodating to my needs and willing to discuss details and procedure. I had a TEE and Cardioversion. I saw no less than five nurses, the cardiologist Dr. Jean Touchan, the anesthesiologist, and a nurse named Mike. All were attentive to a fault. I was terrified of the TEE thing but did not want to be difficult. (Though I'm sure I was) they gave me every chance to back out and did not sugar coat the risks involved. On the contrary, I was told the theist lube was going to be bitter (it was not bad at all) I was shown the echo cam. It was scary looking but I took a chance. I'm the end, I came out with zero discomfort and a brisk ride to the exit. What s great team all around. See you next time guys. And thanks. Jenks read more

Great Hospital I had to go to the ER and never been to the Wentworth Douglas before but since relocating to Dover I decided to come here and it was a great decision I checked in ER waited 45 minute wait but better than 2 hours they had me in and needed an operation DR Eldor was a great surgeon very honest and easy going then spent 3 days in recovery the nurses were great even working under high pressure in this post pandemic lifestyle all the staff here have my whole respect they kept me comfortable as possible definitely made right choice coming here read more

The worst hospital experience I've had in my life. I went to ER twice in the same day; first visit I was seen by a NP and received good care. The second visit was a result of worsening symptoms. I had the inability to swallow, which was diagnosed as a throat infection. This diagnosis was incorrect. I was met by a rude check in nurse and an aloof doctor. The doctor didn't even listen to my complaints or concerns; at one point even told me what I was feeling was all in my head. I was in the ER a total of five hours; even being wheeled out to the hallway for an hour. The doctor approached me and inquired if an X-ray she ordered came; I got my X-rays 40 minutes prior-she had no clue. The Dr sent me home w antibiotics for a throat infection. My symptoms worsened so I went to urgent care the following day. My symptoms turned out to be a severe acid reflux attack. All of which I attempted to describe to the ER doctor but was brushed off. Terrible experience during one of the scariest times of my life. Wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through. read more

As my rating says, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" This is a great place. I met many of the staff and everyone is super friendly and nice. I see smiling faces on patients, and sometimes even hear their laughs. Even the patients are good humored. They have a lot of high-tech equipment and gizmos and gadgets. A beautiful waterfall in the lobby and a large waiting area in the main entrance. But the real beauty of the place is... [drumroll]... THE CAFETERIA. Good for that won't break your bank. Prices so reasonable, you'll want to stuff yourself like it's a buffet. AND there is so much variety! Sandwich bar, salad bar, entree bar, daily soups, fruit salads, pita bread and hummus, chicken fingers and fries, almost everything you can think of, all well-made and fresh, and delicious. I could eat here every day and probably never get sick of it. Oh, a girl can dream about having her own cafeteria like this in her house (next to her mini-ocean tank for her pet sea otters). read more

This is the worst hospital on the seacoast. My partner went in with. Bad case of gout, but the hospital kinda diagnosed him with a leg infection. I say kinda because on the first day they said he had gout, but then spent 3 days treating him for a leg infection all 3 doctors said he didn't have. Because we are not doctors, this hospital treated him for something all of the specialists said he didn't have. At no point did they treat him for gout which he DID have. So my partner was left in pain for 3 whole days, because they wouldn't treat him with anything more than aleve. This was embarrassing and insane. He was in pain and the hospital made it clear they didn't care and thought he was a baby. We didn't get him actual treatment until he was out of the hospital. The whole thing was horrifying. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place. If someone you love has issues bring them to any other hospital than this place. Here they will only suffer and the hospital will run your bill through the roof. I have been through 16 major surgeries and never ONCE have I been treated this poorly. I had my son 13 days ago at WDH's new birthing center. I'm a repeat c-section mom, having had two in the past, and had never experienced labor. So imagine my utter shock when my son decided he was done and kicked off labor via my water breaking a day before my scheduled c-section. At 4:15am, I was calling my midwife and the birthing center, packing my stuff, and driving into Dover. They. Were. AWESOME. I tried really hard not to complain, but I was still swearing like a drunken sailor with every back contraction I had - sometimes mid-sentence - I felt like I had tourettes. All of the nursing staff took it in stride and reassured me that it was completely normal, that I wasn't "that bad" (I'm sure I was), and that I was doing great. By 8am, they had my in the OR for my emergency C. The anesthesiologist & her nurse were AMAZING (my spinal was glorious, then again, anything to stop those gnarly contractions was glorious), the nurses and I cracked jokes and they even put on my choice of music to listen to during my surgery. It was a nearly 2 hour procedure, but they kept me entertained, tended to anything my husband and I needed, and one of the scrub nurses took pictures for us. My son and I got skin-to-skin time while they spent an hour and change closing me up, and he was able to begin nursing right there on the OR table. Folks, that is unusual. I've given birth at a MAJOR hospital on the opposite coast, twice now, and they don't do skin to skin, much less let baby nurse until you're in recovery! WDH is extremely pro-breastfeeding and nobody even blinked when I refused circumcision. They didn't hassle me over any of my choices and never pushed anything on me. Baby rooms en-suite, so families are never separated without your permission. The food is decent, the television has way more channels than I do at home, and the staff is super accommodating. I loved my stay, as much as I can when I have a giant hole in my guts, but I really did enjoy this experience. I was happy to end my baby-having years at WDH! read more

I'm being generous with giving a 1 Star to this hospital. If I could, the rating would be no star at all- just a black moonless sky. To start, we were sent to the Walk-in ER from Urgent Care. My 91yr old father was quickly evaluated by a nurse and then left in the small waiting room with approx. 12 other waiting sick people. We all had masks on, but with the Delta variant currently circulating, it was un-nerving. There was no opportunity for social distancing with sick people. We sat there without monitoring for over 2 hours before being brought to a room to be treated. Dad had blood work, a CT scan, x-ray and an MRI. Eventually, after 7 hrs, of mostly waiting, it was decided that he would be admitted. Another hour passed before I realized that they were in no hurry to get him upstairs because I was being used as his 1:1. At 11PM, I told the nurse that I was going to be going home. He was placed upstairs shortly thereafter. When I had left, there had been a determination that he was dehydrated, but for some reason, throughout the night they were giving him IV Lasix. I was unable to get an explanation as to why. Throughout his stay, his bed was alarmed due to unsteady gait and balance. He was apparently working with PT to teach him how to use a walker. No staff person talked to us about diagnosis. Debbie, the Discharge Manager, spoke to me for approx 5 minutes on Thursday and asked me if I thought he would be safe to go home, where he lives alone in a 3 story house. I told her "No.". I never saw her again. On Friday, a social worker called my sister who lives out of state, left her phone number, but did not accept my sister's 4 attempts to call back. On Saturday, we learn that he will be discharged back to his home on Sunday. He was unable to understand how to take his medications before his hospitalization, and surely will be having a change or additional medications upon discharge. We still don't know what his medications will be, or what his current diagnosis is. He has not had an opportunity to walk independently in the hospital, but they expect that he will be able to get around his home alone and negotiate two flights of stairs. After eating a meal at the hospital, he can't remember that he just ate. Yup! The hospital's plan is to not talk to family - just discharge the disoriented person with an unsteady gait to his 3 story home where he lives alone with new medications . They were able to get good use of their expensive machinery (CT scan and MRI) . From reading the reviews, it looks like their billing department is not very helpful either. Very slow service in the ER. I was the only person in the waiting room and it still took 40 minutes just to get registered. Girls at the desk acknowledged me but continued with there personal conversation. I only use this hospital in emergencies because the service sucks. If I thought I could have made it to Portsmouth I would have gone there instead. read more

Watch out for a dr ed Williams in the ER. He is unbelievably rude and condescending and should not be allowed to even practice medicine. I was brought in by ambulance one day after passing out and he asked who was picking me up when he discharged me and I replied my nana. He then told me I had basically inconvenienced my nana when I could have stayed home and dealt with the issue. My advice? Go to portsmouth or better yet drive the two hours to dartmouth Er where the drs are amazing...Dover you need to train your staff on compassion for those with chronic illnesses read more

Wasn't satisfied with the PCP provided and switched to a more local doctor. The receptionist was delightful, but something seemed off. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. I didn't like the office or the selected doctor. I'm happier now using a different practice. read more
