I usually buy my food from the main location in Little Havana but on Friday I decided to come to this location on 119th Ave. This had to be the dumbest mistake ever!! These ppl at this location sold me 70$ worth of Gallo pinto, carne asada , Maduros and the salad. EVERYTHING I PAID FOR WAS BAD!!! We didn't notice until we got back to the house! This purchase was made on Friday April 17th,2026 at around 5 something in the afternoon. I didn't get a chance to get any pictures or go back to the restaurant to get my money back. The rice tasted and smelled old and funny. The meat tasted funny as well and the maduros tasted old and like they've been sitting there for a while or a couple days. Ever since then my family and I got sick. So if the owner or manager of this place sees this do yourself the favor of contacting me somehow or someway. As a Miami native this is disappointing so 0/10 will not recommend! Beware if you buy anything from this location you will get sick!! And they have the nerve to have an attitude as well! Take it from a Nica girl, you may end up falling in love with Fritanga if you ever eat the food. The place does not disappoint! My friend and I came to eat on a Friday afternoon for lunch around noon. There was a small line to order food but it wasn't too long, we just had to wait about 10mins more or less. I ordered the Carne Asada with rice and beans, a tortilla and fried cheese. Fuego! Fuego! It was delish! The meat was cooked fresh, the rice had lots of flavor and the tortilla and cheese were pretty good too. They also have a smal market to order other foods like dessert and drinks. Before I begin to gush about how good this food was full disclosure I am Nicaraguan on behalf of my parents so many of these dishes were either staples of our house or special occasion type of food. Or I would gorge on them when I would vacation in Nicaragua. Walking in this place was PACKED! It was a Saturday after getting off a 3 hour plane ride and it was the first place I NEEDED to go. The line was long but by no means was it a long wait. There are 4 people behind the food counter and they take your order as fast as you share it and they are packing the food up. There were 6 of us so we ordered the entire menu. We ordered Gallo Pinto (Rice and Black beans mixed) Carne Asada (Grilled Steak), Tajadas (thin sliced & fried green plantains), Enchilada (Deep fried stuffed tortilla), Queso Frito (Fired Cheese), Madurro Relleno (deep fired Yellow Plantain stuffed with cheese), Nacatamal (Type of boiled dish wrapped in leaves made from a corn paste, stuffed with veggies and meat) and Cacao (Milk mixed with roasted cocoa powder). If I could describe this scene it was like a shark frenzy I was eating from here and from there and did my best to remember to breathe. Everything was hot, flavors were on point, the hot sauce on the table was flowing because I was drowning in it. Word to the wise parking is not ideal so if you see a spot grab it if not park around the corner and walk. It's worth it. This type of restaurant is not unique around Miami but to my folks its their favorite and I can understand why. This is one of the better Fritanga's I've been to, and just minutes away from home! This can be a bad thing becase it's so good it's hard not to eat the entire meal in one sitting. The Carne Asada (grilled steak) with huge mound of Gallo Pinto (rice & red beans) and Maduros (sweet plaintains) along with a Queso Frito (fried cheese) is pretty much my go-to but I do occasionally stray and try other stuff even though I usually have no idea what it is, it just looks delicious and it usually is! I can't forget to mention cole slaw looking stuff, which I mix into the rice and beans and top it off with the hot sauce, so good! Where do I begin with my review of Pinolandia? Do I start by referencing my near constant craving for mantequilla ( I put that ish on everythang) and gallopinto or do I instead touch on my long lasting love affair with fritanga and Central American food in general. To be honest I'm not sure so I'll begin with explaining what fritanga is. Fritanga is home style Nicaraguan food served cafeteria style. This means they have real food, that you order from a glass counter. When you come, excpect all the staples. Carne Asada, gallopinto, tortillas, maduros, etc.. Of course you cannot forget queso frito! These perfectly fried squares of cheese are amazing. Do not even stop to ponder the possible health ramifications of eating large fried chunk's of cheese and add one at the counter. Feeling adventurous, get two! I usually go with the full package. Carne Asada, gallopinto, queso frito, and maduros. All orders come with a vinegar salad and a container of hot sauce. Both good. The only reasons I cannot give 5 stars are the following.: 1. Meat can sometimes be over cooked ie. burnt. 2. Ridiculously packed on Sunday's. 3. Extremely limited seating in unattractive setting. Can't hold this against them too much but worth noting. I come to this Fritanga every so often, I order the same thing each time (Gallo pinto, carne asada, maduro and queso frito) , they're not open 24/7 like the pinolandia in little Havana, but this one is closer to my house. Some days are better than others when it comes to this Fritanga, I might leave with some juicy carne and freshly fried cheese (mostly) or It might be dry cheese and last carne of the day type of day (if you go near closing time), either way it still taste good lol.. & the employees are cool and friendly (the ones I've gotten to actually know at least). read more

Five Stars from the moment I tried the Steak at my jobs Xmas potluck.. So I gave it a try this week for lunch and still lives up to those 5 stars. The only improvements for me : parking and the rice should be made throughout the day( I went in about 12 and it wasn't that fresh) and the cashier could save the attitude and more friendly. My family and I are regulars here. While a few months to a year (and more) ago I would have said this is THE spot for Nicaraguan food (as stated by my Nicaraguan husband), lately that just isn't the case. The prices have gone up, and the quality has gone down. They used to have such a good fresco de cacao (a drink that is like chocolate milk, but SO much better and made with real cacao), but now it is WAY too sweet and tastes watered down. The last few times we've gone, even some of the food isn't quite the same- the mañuelitas (similar to a crepe, rolled up with a crumbly, plain cheese, and cinnamon sugar) that I have always LOVED were inedible. I will be giving Pinolandia another chance, but after tonight it wont be for a while. read more

Purhased a mondongo soup. Taste in the soup was non-existent. It was watered down. Mind you I have been coming here for a while and the food has gotten worse by the week. Asked to please change the soup, and provide a free small portion of rice because in my house I used the little bit of cooked rice in that soup. They still wanted to charge me the portion and said it was not there fault I did not like it. Asked for my money back, only gave me $8.00 did not pay back the tax either. I asked him have you even tried the soup before you sold this, he lied saying he ate some of that before the du started, you know when someone lies to you. I am NOT going back there. He lost customers that would go on a weekly basis, plus friends that have been informed. I was running late for dinner yesterday Friday, I Was very hungry was almost 9:30 when I arrived at Pinolandia located at 12 Ave N.E. and 119 St. They started to close. The security guard let me slide in. I get a box full of delicious gallo pinto, 2 big pieces of carne asada, a huge square of yummy fried cheese,maduros and the famous Nicaraguan coleslaw.
