Are these the best fries I've ever had in my life? Pretty damned close, I think. We arrived right when they opened at 11:30 (a little before, tbh, and we were waiting to order). Friendly and helpful service. Ordered at the front; frites with sauces, truffle mayo and Andalous sauce (3.95€). Paired with a triple Karmeliet (€4.95) and a regular sized Stella (€6.25). Good, loud music inside. Seats inside are spacious and nice outside, as well. Fries were fresh, hot, and salty. Sauces were a great complement. I'd eat here again!! read more

This was my first Belgium fry experience and it's definitely elevated from the typical stand along the street. That being said it's not necessarily better, but the ingredients are certainly top notch and the flavor is amazing. Sometimes you want the basic fries in Brussels and you go to any random stand for that. Come here if you want unique takes on the classic. I have to put these fries into a category in its own. We stopped in on a whim on a Tuesday early evening and were able to get a table for four almost immediately. They have a good variety of different frites and we got different ones to try. In Center City, Brussels, Belgium is the best Frites around town!! coming to Brussels. I knew that Frites is a big food. You have to indulge however and a lot of my research this establishment never popped up. I found one video talking about how amazing this establishment is and the frites are out of this world. The Frites we're amazing fresh made right in front of you. Once you order they drop them in the fryer. This is as fresh as they come. There is also a sauce bar, but very fancy not your typical sauce bar. I got frites with shredded Parmesan cheese with my sauces being a truffle aïoli, and the other one was a slightly spice. It almost reminded me of ketchup and mayonnaise mixed together with a little bit of a spice in it. The service was great. Everybody was attentive any questions I had they were able to assist me with answering those questions. Being from the United States and traveling internationally it's such an experience and it was refreshing that they spoke English, but I did have my translator ready to go if needed. Frites Atelier was really clean on the inside the minute someone got up one of the employees was over there cleaning the tables ready for the next guest. The bathrooms were clean. This is not your typical walk-in grab food leave. This was a very classy establishment. They have an extensive menu where you can place many different toppings on your Frites. I highly recommend checking out this establishment before you look at any of the TikTok's recommendations because this place blows all of them out of the water! So filling! We got the Flemish stew fries and the basil fries. I saw online that the Flemish stew fries had mustard but mine didn't so I wish I got to try that but this was still delicious. There is plenty of seating around and it's pretty clean. It's a beautiful shop, we ate inside. You get a buzzer for when your food is ready and we waited about 7-10 minutes. OH MY GOODNESS! This was an incredible restaurant and meal. Sergio Hermon (Michelin star chef) is the genius behind it all. I love frites stands but this is an elevated restaurant that blows all the stands away. Outdoor patio seating as well as indoor. The restaurant embraces Belgian architecture and design. These gourmet frites are bombastic. The boyfriend and I shared two types: Basil Parmesan and Beef Stew. Yep, beef stew fries! The frites were topped with brown beer beef, mustard seeds, and cress. In the battle for the best frites, there is a clear winner. But why the four stars, le boo hoo? Because the burger was a big disappointment. Their card machines were on the fritz too, so my two items came far apart from each other. Actually, there seemed to be a bit of a learning curve with people working there. I saw my burger go up in flames, one employee too timid to take it out, and the other removing it... but apparently still serving it. The burger was cooked to hell and I should have known better. A friterie owned by former 3-Michelin Star chef, Sergio Herman, is enough information to garner curiosity. They have simple options of frites, croquettes, burgers, and chicken tenders. Their more gourmet options -- hence the Michelin influence -- included their Frites Specials such as the Flemish Strew Frites (sold out during our visit) and Parmesan & Basil Frites. We went for a basic order of Frites plus a selection of 2 sauces for €5,95. Their sauces included: classic, truffle, andalouse, bearnaise, ketchup, samurai, piccalilly, and tartar. Price seemed on par with the alternatives in the area, but you are forced into 2 sauces here. The fries themselves were quite nice; they were fresh out the fryer, none too heavy, and so, so crisp. The sauces were advertised as "homemade", and wholesome they were, but the amount was on the stingy side as you were limited to the little condiment cup they provide (which they initially forgot to supply). For some reason, we also ordered chicken chunks/ tenders and I was most interested in the shrimp croquettes, being a regional specialty. The chicken chunks were ordered by the S.O. who is weird and gets them everywhere, but they were quite meaty with superior crunch. The shrimp croquettes had ample filling, and the tartar sauce seemed to standard, but the price was high for just one (€5,75). I think you can get this cheaper if you hunt around enough at one of the many chalets during Christmas time. Plenty of seating inside which isn't always clean, but you make due. Line gets long, but they have a worker going down the line to take orders which definitely helps quicken the process substantially. read more

Gosh the hype is real. I got the Parmesan basil fries which were heavenly. They were the right amount of crispy and the cheese wasn't too overpowering. Towards the end my stomach was in pain so I would recommend splitting a portion with at least 1 other person lol. read more

I was tempted to give 2 stars but felt 2.5 was my best. My friend said I had to go try this place after seeing them written up somewhere. The place is beautiful. And it's bigger than it initially looks since it's long and there are many tables in the back. But I was hugely disappointed with their frites. They were so greasy. They were fried to death that most of those thick, hand-cut fries were hollow inside, and yet they were not crispy and light on the outside - just unbelievably greasy. Though I love fries, I admit I prefer those skinny ones to thick ones. But these were worse than other frites I had while I was in Belgium. My stomach was not happy afterwards. Croquette was good but also rich. My husband liked it. (we shared one, and that was enough). They seem small, but do not order the regular volume since they're all very heavy. read more

These are, bar none, the best fries you will eat in Belgium. I say that as someone traveling with a belgie, having been taken to the "best" frites by locales. These fries are double fried as is proper, creating a deliciously crunchy and crispy outside and soft goodness inside. They are more expensive than other fries, but well worth it (this is not something I say lightly)... The well-reviewed fries around the corner cost 4.50 compared at these for 5.95... but the quality is in a different stratosphere. Plus, for the price you get two sauces instead of one, and you get the most beautiful interior, send someone a picture and they'll think you're in Paris at a fancy restaurant, not in the place to eat fries. Go here as soon as you get to Brussels so that you can go again and again. I will admit they are fairly heavy, and we got the Indian peanut, next time I would just get plain and enjoy the sauces, especially the truffle sauce. read more
