Oh, Fritz. I had some delicious sandwiches from here catered for a bah mitzvah so I was excited to see it was nearby at the time and decided to stop in for a bite. Ordered the fried eggplant since I liked it so much at the event and a side Caesar salad. The eggplant was as good as remembered but halfway through the Caesar I saw what looked like a piece of cut up Brillo or sponge. I brought it to one of the cashier's attention and she just offered up another one that she pulled from the fridge. It was odd not to just take it off the bill. Of course, I couldn't enjoy the new one given that the previous one had a piece of sponge and opted to just not return. read more

I ordered the drunken parm chicken sandwich.... I didn't taste the vodka sauce they say they put on it BUT, it was delicious! The bread was perfect! It was soft & yummy! & it was garlic bread! The chicken was cooked perfectly, not too breaded & perfectly cooked. I ordered it on door dash & the fries were still warm!!!!!!!!! (& DELICIOUS) The chicken sandwich was warm as well. You order at the counter, they bring you the food, and you clean up your table once you're done! We had zucchini trio with pesto sauce, grilled cheese, bbq pulled pork sandwich, lemonade, a bottle of water, and a magic bar for $36.50 before tips. Loved this place! It's got a charm to it. We felt like we found a treasure in the mist of New Brunswick. Staff is very hospitable and friendly. They were happy at the end of the day. The display counters were full with yummy looking bakery goods. The board behind the counter described specials for the day. They having inside seating which is very nice. It s not a big place but it has a big heart. It's like a comfortable place that makes time stand still. I would definitely go back for breakfast then for tea then for coffee . This place is ok not my favorite. The pork was fried too hard and the pretzel was all dough and not crust like NYC.

Met a friend here for breakfast. It was just alright. Not great. I was excited to try a homemade pop tart but they were out. Living on the west coast for 10 years now, I was eager to have pork roll, egg, and cheese and this one was fine but not great, particularly because the bread didn't taste fresh. The "honey vanilla" yogurt tasted plain. There is no table service, you order at a counter and go pick it up. The ambiance is cute, like an old house. read more

summary: Absolutely love fritz's food BUT (and its a big butt) the service can be a bit dodgy and some things on the menu are lacking... I wish I could give this place 3.75 stars because its not quite 4 stars but not quite 3.... So I have come here a million times because it is really close to my house and the space is super cute. I will say that I have always had a good, fresh meal every time I eat here. The fries are soo fresh, tasty, and not over fried. Also, I always get the mix & match where you can choose a style sandwich and your protein. This time I got the Buffalo style and I wanted the crispy portabello as the protein but they did not have any. They were nice to offer me alternatives like a fried eggplant but I just got the crispy chicken instead (im not vegetarian i just like mushrooms). Anyways my sandwich was amazing, the pictures dont do it justice because it was a bit messy but the chicken is soo good, juicy, and crunchy. The sauce is perfectly spicy but not too hot and the bread is toasted beautifully. However, my friend who came with me had a rather different experience food wise. He ordered the General Tso crispy chicken sandwich which is literally just a piece of fried chicken with general tso sauce/marinade and green onions. It was kinda surprising because my sandwich was so full of toppings that this one would be so mundane. He also wished that there was more sauce on the sandwich, maybe some lettuce, or something to add a bit more flair to the rather dry sandwich. This is an issue ive noticed consistently with the items on the menu that arent the mix & match sandwiches which confuses me because the mix and match is always so perfect! Also, the person taking our order was very nice but took a very long time to get our order placed for some reason (maybe he was new to cashiering?) and then it took a very long time for the food to actually come out to us. If Fritz's was around when I went to RU, I'm confident it would have been a staple. Not only was the food great, but I loved that they had indoor and outdoor seating. I was in the are killing time before an event close by and wanted a place I could get some food and do some work. Usually I'll just look for a cafe but Fritz's was the perfect find! I got the Turkey Avocado BLT, a bottle of water and sat outside since it was an expectedly beautiful day. The sandwich was fantastic! Sliced roasted turkey, avocado, bacon, tomato, lettuce and all on some toasted white bread. It was perfect and filled me up. I placed my order inside, was able to grab my seat outside and they brought my food out when it was all ready. I really love their outdoor seating, by the way. They have some tables and then a few stools set up along their railing. Perfect if you plan to eat and pull out your laptop at the same time. I am so happy I found this spot! Excited to try more food from here. I would I say my sandwich was only really a 4-4.5 but my wife's was like a 6 so that balances out right. Get the Reuben. Like don't ask questions just try that first. And you're welcome. It was really, really good. The corned beef, the marble rye, the sauce, the sour kraut, and especially the cheese we're all excellent. Oh and so was the salted caramel blondie. The fries and sweet potato fries were good and they give you way too many so really you could share an order with someone. I wanted the General Tso's crispy chicken to be great but it was just ok to good. The bread was good. The chicken was good although it was tough in a few spots. This was my second time coming here and I had to get the nachos to share again. They freshly cut and fry their tortilla chips so they come out nice and hot and crispy. How to ruin a BLT! I have ordered here several times and swore I'd never come back. Oh well new year lets try again as the breakfast dining options are limited near my work location. I ordered a BLT on toast.....I got a BLT on their so called famous white bread that was fried in butter. Amazing food options. Loving the umami options that are available for breakfast and lunch for myself but my partner loves the wide selection of pastries and beverages available. We frequently have lovely breakfast / brunch dates here before going to the gym and starting our day. Today we grabbed some pastries and salad for our beach trip, too! Lovely staff that are very accommodating and the location also has an elevator for handicap accessibility. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and is always spotlessly clean. Bathrooms are also very clean! So glad to be able to enjoy a meal here outside now that it's warm. The summer weekly specials are to die for. Especially if you like seafood ;) read more

On my last visit, I have stopped by to get some sweet potato fries (ugh the classic and they make them so well). I was also craving something sweet and was recommended the almond bar. One word for it: heavenly!! If you've ever had an almond croissant, it sort of tastes like the almond filling...except the entire bar tastes like that. It came out pretty fast but could have used more time to warm it up. Large portion of fries. The sandwich looks small but it is a good size and perfect for lunch. Very tasty. The negatives were the sandwich was on the cold side and needed to be heated. While the fries are a good portion, about half were soggy. No salt and pepper on the table. Asked the staff for salt and pepper and they actually handed me only two small salt packets and one small pepper packet. I imagine they would have given me more if I asked. This is a classic example of a highly rated spot going wrong . It could have been a freak day or just the things we ordered went wrong. But for a neighborhood sandwich place that's been around and rated so well , it's hard to let go and not mention an under-seasoned tomato soup and a pretty bland chicken noodle soup , both of which are simple plain ol' staples at any sandwich soup spot. It was not a crowded afternoon , that they messed up the soup order and missed the chicken noodle and served us tomato soup. They made up by giving us a complimentary Chick.Noodle soup which I could have lived without !!! But for the fancy Moscow mule mug presentation , both soup choices fell flat for me. Now to the sandwich. We ordered cheese toast and a special of the day - Blackened chicken sandwich with a side of zucchini fries. We noticed the Z.fries at the next table and found it appetizing, till it was served at our table . Thin, flat ,oily , soggy , was more like a left over bad batch that should have made its way to the garbage bin but was proudly served with our even worse blackened chicken sandwich. We didn't touch the fries as it was seriously greasy and waiting for a cholesterol outbreak! We asked for regular fries which was definitely better and edible. The B.Chick sandwich was quite soggy with the tomatoes and red pepper jelly , which messed up the flavor and texture of a supposedly special Sandwich of the day. We ended up eating some of it with the soggy slippery bred and then had just the chicken... as we were hungry...:: The only saving grace was the cheese toast and thank goodness it was not messed up. I wasn't sure if should thank my stars or more theirs as this was the only saving grace combined with their service that earned them the 2 stars. The food was an absolute game winning walk off grand slam home run. I had a most delicious chipotle bacon cheese burger. probably the best I have had in a while. My friend really enjoyed his chicken sandwich and loved the corn fritters. He said they may have been his best ever. Can't give it a 5 though as the food took a little too long to come and my bun-less burger was served in a metal container that was too small to use a fork and knife to eat it. If you're a Hawaiian pizza lover, you'll enjoy this sandwich! The only "negative" I had with this sandwich was that the bread became soggy after some time. This was probably because it was served as take-out. If they allowed dine-in, the bread most likely would've been toasted and kept its form. The restaurant didn't seem busy, but the wait for our food was long. Like, uncomfortably long. When the food was brought to the table, we examined the food because it didn't look like ours. Come to find out, we were given the wrong order. We gave it back to our waitress. A minute later, we watched her bring the same two sandwiches (which we touched) to another table. I ordered the mix and match grilled chicken, buffalo style. It was not as messy as I expected it to be, but toppings were falling out as I ate. I definitely would say this sandwich is not spicy. I only ate half the sandwich and took the other half to go. My friend ordered the mix and match veggie burger Tuscan style. He had to eat his with a fork and knife because the veggie burger itself was crumbling. We split a spinach and artichoke Mac and cheese. At first glance, you'll notice how watery the cheese sauce is. The Mac and cheese was super cheesy, to the point where any time you took a fork, there was a huge strand of cheese following. The restaurant itself is very cute and homey. The menu makes for a great variety of breakfast and lunch options but I wouldn't go for dinner. Plenty of cheesey options from mac n cheese to grilled cheese sandwiches but I always feel like it's missing something more - but that's just me. Decently priced...a big lunch for two came out to a little over $20 without drinks but they have a water jug always filled for you to serve yourself with. Lost two stars because of how bland I felt the four menu items we had today were and because it took a bit longer than expected to get our food with half of their employees all sitting around in the dining area talking with each other and just one young lady behind the counter from what I could see actually working. Some suggestions: For the spinach artichoke grilled cheese, I would have loved for the bread to have been a little thicker given the generous amount of cheese and veggies. When I got to the second half, the bottom bread was already pretty saturated with oil. Took a chance on this restaurant passing through on the way to the airport. The burgers were huge and awesome! My husband and I each ordered a side of fries and we definitely could have shared one -- huge amount. Wish the cashier would have let us know when we ordered. I wanted to love this place! I'm all about the mom and pops. I will say the inside gives that small town charm feel. However the food was very underwhelming. Some of our items like the bacon, eggs, toast, and hash browns were burnt. The pancakes were dry and lacked flavor. We came to try the maple syrup advertised here on yelp but they were out and we were served cold table syrup instead. I will try them again for lunch in the future but for now this review was well earned. read more
