4.5 stars Semicolon is a Korean franchise and they have other locations in New York and New Jersey. I believe this used to be café benne but a few years ago changed to Semicolon Cafe. Location: Downtown George Street. It doesn't have a convenient spot to pull over so it's best to walk over if you live downtown or park in a nearby parking lot or if you can get a street parking off of George Street. The café: This has an open and large space. There's a good amount of tables and chairs and they're spread out throughout the café and on the second level. Food and drinks: I love getting the lady Matcha, but they have other coffee or specialty drinks/smoothies on their menu. I love to get the SOS or avocado sandwich. The milk bread is so fluffy and I love the kewpie mayo. Sometimes when you order to go or take away, it can get a little soggy, but I just pop it into the toaster oven. The sandwiches are around $9 and the Lady Matcha is $7. This is my go to splurge when I want to treat myself as when you order delivery through GrubHub/Yelp, it can cost almost $30! But for me it's totally woe My experiences: I've gone here during the summer and did a little bit of work. While they do have air conditioning, it was not ice cold, like typical coffee shops. So just keep that in mind in case you easily overheat. I think because the space is so open and long, heating and cooling can be all over the place. Staff is friendly and service has been good when I've ordered to go or dined in. I think they've created a nice community, which is always great to have at a local coffee shop. They even have cute Jibbitz and kawaii stickers for sale. I was really tempted to buy some, but knew that I didn't need it. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving one of their sandwiches and I hope to try other items from the menu.

I tried Semi Colon for the first time today and OMG... it was amazing!!! I ordered The Shroom and it did not disappoint. It was loaded with mushrooms, arugula, eggs, and a balsamic vinaigrette with truffle sauce, all on perfectly toasted bread. The bread was super soft and seriously delicious. I loved the sauce and honestly just wished there was a little more of it throughout the sandwich. Everything was so flavorful and filling. Easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Street parking available. This was a quick pit stop before a conference and I am so glad we got a chance to stop in. They have a very cute cafe. So much space inside you wouldn't know it from the outside. They do have some food and smoothie selections. I tried their tiramisu latte which was a recommendation from the barista taking the order and it was so good. I highly recommend it!

Lady Matcha - comes with an edible strawberry straw

I visited this cafe for a quick pick-me-up! I ordered a Lady Matcha (their strawberry matcha) and it was delicious! It came with an edible strawberry candy straw too which I loved lol but drink from it quickly because it does disintegrate into the drink! Super friendly staff and lots of seating available, but metered street parking may be hard to find depending on what time you visit. Highly recommend though :)

Semicolon Cafe is one of the coziest and most comfy study spots amidst a pretty busy atmosphere! We were happy to have recently stumbled upon this deceptively big cafe, which has ample seating for relaxing and working. The only encouragement (not a complaint) is that Semicolon holds wells as a study spot, but not as much as a coffee spot. It's not hard for a cafe to have 10-15 different syrup flavors with which to flavor their coffees, however, we were a bit disappointed that there really weren't too many options here to choose from. Besides that small critique, if you'd like a place near Rutgers to relax, study, and focus, this can be a great option!

    Ham and Egg Sandwich

Lots of space, tables, great vibes. The ham and egg sandwich was perfectly balanced with creaminess and tanginess and crunch. The iced latte was quite good too. Perfect space to hang for a while and enjoy some delicious bites.

Got the BELT sandwich and pistachio oatmilk latte. Both were extremely tasty. The bread of the sandwich was buttered and toasted well yet still fluffy. Eggs were super tasty and fluffy but not overly salted which was great because the bacon added a bursts of saltiness. Could have been crispier to add extra textural elements. The latte is a bit on the sweeter end but super creamy. Didn't appreciate coffee flavors much but I think it is more pistachio base with milk. Space wise - beautiful and roomy. Lots of tables and seating. Only open till 3pm

Ummm why did it take so long to find Semicolon Cafe? It was delicious! Was at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick and looking for something to grab quick, close and tasty. Insert Semicolon. It was a close 7 mins walk from the Hyatt and the space is large. We got the BELT and the Bulgogi. First off... my fiancés response to the first bite of the bulgogi..."wow, now THATS a first bite." Pretty much sums up every bite after. Both sandwiches are combinations of flavor, fullness and richness. They encompass the experience of a breakfast sandwich and a bit more elevation in the quality. The people at the cafe were very kind and from the moment we ordered to the moment our sandwiches were ready was about 7-10 mins. Not a long wait and well worth it. From the quality, you can tell it's made right there and certainly one sandwich is enough but you may want two to be glutinous - we shared two because we had other things to do but highly considered a 3rd. WILL BE BACK!

Semicolon is a large, modern, and stylish cafe. The vibe definitely makes you feel welcome to sit and stay awhile. The baristas were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were excellent and the bulgogi sandwich is a great reason for me to visit again. I liked the mural in the back and how tabletop games were available to customers. Semicolon is a good space for people who want to hang out in New Brunswick.

    Bulgogi breakfast sandwich. Delicious!

Got take out here recently partly because parking nearby is hard to find. Wifey and I both got the Bulgogi sandwich which was delicious and could probably do without the sauce that comes on it because the brioche bread is beautifully buttered and toasted. I also had the pistachio bomb as a drink and would definitely get it again. We went to a local park to enjoy our food.

Semicolon Cafe is a great spot for light bites and coffee. My girls and I are always greeted warmly and the whole place is clean and tidy. We usually order a latte (seasonal special) and one of the smoothies. A sweet treat to cap it off such as the brownie or macaroons. Lots of flavors to choose from but I always enjoy pistachio. We always stop in if we are in the George St area.

This is the second location I've been too of Semicolon's and both times have been amazing experiences! The ambiance at the New Brunswick location is truly incredible - so spacious and decorated so nicely! The staff was super sweet and welcoming as well. I tried their Pistachio Bomb (double espresso, milk, and pistachio) and it was SOO yummy! One is the best coffees I've had in awhile! I also got the banana pudding and the flavor was great. I highly recommend checking this cafe out, you won't be disappointed!

    Lady Matcha and Matcha Latte

All I'm going to say is don't come here for the matcha. It's probably the worst I've had. The flavor is bland and milky. It was a cool addition in the lady (strawberry) matcha that they give you the edible strawberry straw, but that didn't save the drink unfortunately. I didn't try the food items so I can't speak on that, but it looks good and I'd suggest to try that instead if you go here. The service was good and I will say the inside is really nice and spacious. Lots of tables to sit at and study if that's your vibe.

Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert shop specializing in traditional Chinese-style sweet dessert…read moresoups--comforting bowls built around ingredients such as red beans, sago, grass jelly, purple rice, tofu pudding, and almond. These desserts are common across Taiwan and much of East Asia, where sweet soups serve the role that cakes or pastries might in the West: a warm or cooling treat at the end of a meal or as an afternoon snack. The brand itself originated in Taichung, Taiwan, where it began as a small family shop inspired by traditional dessert recipes passed down through generations. Today Meet Fresh has expanded internationally, but the menu remains rooted in those classic Taiwanese dessert traditions. The menu includes hot and cold dessert soups, along with bubble teas, specialty drinks, ice creams, shaved ice desserts, and egg waffles--served plain or with a variety of fillings. I stopped in for a bowl of their Combo A hot red bean soup, topped with taro balls, fragrant red beans, crunchy peanuts, and soft, chewy boba. I also ordered a hot almond milk. For those unfamiliar with it, red bean soup is one of the classic desserts of Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine. Made from adzuki beans simmered until soft, it has a naturally earthy sweetness that is comforting without being overly sugary. It's often served hot in cooler weather and chilled in summer. The bowl here was generous and piping hot, exactly what you want from a dessert soup. The sweetness was well balanced--sweet, but not cloying--and the toppings added layers of texture that kept each spoonful interesting. The taro balls are another Taiwanese specialty: chewy dumplings made from taro and sweet potato starch with a texture somewhere between mochi and gnocchi. These were nicely elastic and pleasantly chewy. The peanuts added crunch, while the boba pearls brought their familiar soft chew, making the bowl a fun mix of textures. The hot almond milk was fragrant and soothing. In Chinese dessert culture this type of almond drink is often made from apricot kernels (sometimes called "Chinese almonds"), which gives it a slightly different aroma than Western almond milk. This one was very tasty, though it leaned a bit sweeter than I personally prefer. Service was pleasant and efficient, and the shop has ample seating, making it easy to sit and enjoy your dessert rather than rushing out the door. For anyone curious about Taiwanese desserts--or simply looking for something beyond cakes and pastries--Meet Fresh offers a comforting introduction to a whole world of sweet soups, chewy toppings, and traditional dessert flavors. I would happily return to explore more of the menu.

Meet Fresh is an international chain serving up Taiwanese desserts- shaved iced and grass jelly…read moredesserts along with milk tea and waffle creations. I'd recommend creating a custom dessert for what I felt like is better value, and coming at an off-hour due to the difficulty of finding parking in the plaza. --- Meet Fresh has a wide variety of desserts available: -Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice (L)- I shared it between 4 people, and while it was a good size and I enjoyed the toppings, personally it felt too expensive for the amount of ice! I would be on the fence reordering this. -Signature Grass Jelly (hot)- This came with a side of peanuts. For the relatively expensive signature grass jelly dish, I was a bit disappointed at the ratio of grass jelly to toppings. I would pass next time. -Custom icy grass jelly with 5 toppings [sesame rice balls, taro ball, ice cream, sago, and Q mochi (taro mochi)]- This came with a side of creamer. I really enjoyed both the flavor and toppings in the custom icy grass jelly!! The ratio of toppings was better for sure, but it is a more expensive option. I'd probably still go for this option next time. The restaurant is more or less self-service. It is self-seating. You first order at the kiosk or counter, and then retrieve your order once your number is called. Later, you take your tray and clean up yourself. The interior can seat fairly large groups, maybe 20-40 people total depending on how you sit. One of the biggest obstacles to enjoying Meet Fresh is finding parking in the hectic and overcrowded parking lot. I'd find it hard to justify fighting to find parking for Meet Fresh until I had something else to also do in the plaza. Overall, our group had pretty mixed ratings, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd recommend coming when you're willing to splurge on a custom dessert creation.

I was looking for a good baguette in my neighborhood for a while. But as simple as a baguette may seem, making a tasty one is an art. I was running some errands when I suddenly felt pekish. I saw on Yelp that there was an "authentic French bakery" nearby and decided, "Why not?" Originally, I was thinking of getting a quiche, but as I got into the store, I decided to switch to an avocado egg sandwich. I am sure quiche is good, but I was impressed by the sandwich. It came on the plate with very fresh salad greens. Greens there fresh and sauce tangy, just what one needs to cut through the richness of avocado and egg. I think I had an entire Avacado cut on it. The avocado itself was just right. But the star of the show, for me, was a baguette! I inhaled the entire dish and asked if they sell baguettes on their own, which they do. The bakery associate told me they just ran out, but they are baking new ones now. If I wait 10-15 minutes, I will get a freshly baked one. I could not believe my lack. They came as promises and they were great, just smell alone was to die for There are so many other things I want to try, so I'll definitely be back. Thank you guys, you all made my day!
