I love Tastee Sub and always get there #5 Super Sub, so I knew when I had to feed a large crowd I had to get the 6ft Party Sub- #5 Super Sub Service: I placed my order on 12/23 for a 12/26 pick up and learned that you can place an order the fay before pick up. The staff was friendly and patiently answered my questions about order the sub. Here's what I learned: when you return the board/ base of the sub you get $10 back, you can order a different toppings for each foot of the sandwich! Food: The sandwich was huge, and on extra large bread! It comfortably fed 19 people and we still had about 2ft of the sandwich left! The sandwich was filled with ham, salami, cappacola, Proscuttini, cheese lettuce and tomatoes! The sandwich came with a bag of condiments: mayo, slightly hot pickled pepper spread, vinegar and oil. When visiting a new area, my motto is "eat where the locals eat." New Jersey is renown for their sandwiches/subs/hoagies - or whatever else you want to call them. All I know is, the combination of meat, veggies, cheese, on fresh Italian bread is simply delicious! I saw the Tastee Sub Shop featured in a YouTube video, and also one of the staff at the office I was working at, raved about the food here. I didn't want to drive up to the Edison location, but thankfully there is another Tastee Sub Shop in nearby Franklin Park. Tastee Sub shop is somewhat of a local legend, with the OG location in Edison having been in operation since 1963!!! Not having been to their Edison spot, some of the folks I went to lunch with mentioned that the Tastee Sub Shop II was almost identical in appearance, décor, and ambiance. This is totally a "no frills" place with a rather basic looking free standing building, drab tile flooring, and a few tables and chairs for dining in. Everything on the menu looked tempting, but I was told when I'm at the Tastee, you gotta order the Number 5, which is the super combo. The number 5 is a combination of the number 1, 2, and 3 sandwiches. And what exactly are all of the meats in the super combo? Pressed Ham, Salami, Boiled Ham, Cappacola, Proscuttini, and Cheese. I probably didn't need the 16 inch since I only finished half of the sandwich while I was there, but at $13.50 for the full size...IT IS A DEAL!!! You walk up the counter, and the friendly staff begins with either a fresh white or wheat Italian bread roll. They load on (and I do mean, LOAD on) the meats, and I opted for the provolone, and lettuce, onion, tomato, vinegar, oil, salt, oregano; I also added deli mustard and hot peppers for no extra charge. The sub was GINORMOUS. It comes sliced into four pieces because it is so large, and it could've easily fed 2-4 people. First thing I noticed was the fresh bread. It was soft and had a great subtle flavor that didn't compete with the ingredients. And did I mention the sub was stuffed with meats? Unlike at some other sub shops, the Tastee didn't skimp, and eat bite I could taste the Italian meats such as the salami, Cappacola, and Proscuttini; the ham also added a nice flavor without being too salty. The veggies were nice and crisp and the toppings especially the oil and vinegar plus spices, just unified the entire sandwich. A similar sandwich back in the DC area would have EASILY been at least $20+ While my small group huddled around a table to enjoy our lunch, there was an almost non-stop stream of customers popping in, ordering their food, and then departing in less that 10 minutes. This is definitely a local favorite. I saved the other half of the sub for dinner that same night...and the food was so good that I "might have" gone back to the Tastee Sub shop a few more times before I left NJ. Bottom line: If you're anywhere near Edison or Franklin Park, it is worth pulling off I-95 and stopping at the Tastee Sub Shop...and don't forget to bring your appetite. read more

Just came from a party with 6 foot. I love taste subs, however the bread was not the standard bread and ruined the whole experience.

I lived in Franklin Park most of my life and when I moved to West Virginia, the one thing I missed most was Tastee's tuna subs. these people are nice enough to package the bread, tuna, lettuce, and fixings separately so my husband can bring one back to me when he goes to visit. I am in heaven when he gets home and I get to eat it. I want to commend them on going out of their way to do that. I have heard good things about this chain sub shop so had to try it. When I arrived I parked in thie small parking area. They were super busy on NYE but they moved quick. I wanted a hot sub but they didn't served hot subs except for the meatball, so I went with the turkey. I ordered the 1/2 turkey with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar. They had a system going so it went quick. The sub was pretty big for only a little over $6 and paid with credit. When I got home I dug in and the sub was pretty good. This is your hometown local sandwich shop. If you are from this area you know about it. Around lunchtime this place turns into an operation. They do work fast and get you in and out pretty quickly. There are a handful of tables where you can sit and eat if you want. I went with the roast beef and provolone which is ridiculous. The Bread is soft with no hard crust which I liked. Sometimes at these deli's have bread so hard that you can lose a tooth but not here. I also wanted to try the potato salad that was in the fridge next to the drinks. Looked good and tasted good. This place is not very expensive either and thats probably another reason why it has been around so long. It kind of reminds me of Sorrento's in freehold. Such a fun and filling weekday dinner! My boyfriend and I split a 16'' sub. It comes divided into 4 giant pieces. I had like 1 and 3/4 pieces and he had 2 and 1/4, it was more than enough. I WAS STUFFED. Service was really nice and fast. You can't eat inside, it's pick up only. You also need a mask to go inside, so definitely make sure you bring one. They have a parking lot in the back. Here's what we got: A 16'' All Cheese Sub with provolone, white american and swiss (can you tell I love cheese lol). We topped it with Lettuce, Oil and Vinegar (I think I would tell them to go light on this next time, the flavor was every so slightly overwhelming), Onion, Tomato, Spices, Mayo and Hot Peppers. Overall, very satisfying, very filling and I would totally get it again for a quick dinner! We ate it SO FAST I didn't have a chance to take any pictures. Your hands totally get messy so fast so take your pics before you start trying to eat, if you want any! The total was ~14 -15 dollars which is so reasonable for two people. I am so sad to rate this a 2 star this because I love tastee sub and their sandwiches but today I got an unexpected surprise with my meatball sub. There was a long black hair on my sandwich and it was just too gross for me so I couldn't eat it I know it came off the young lady who prepared it since they always make the meatball subs when you get there when it's pickup. Usually I never have any problems and this place does serve quality food but I paid for a sandwich I couldn't eat so hence the one star. Otherwise I would rate it 5 stars - I understand that you can't help a hair falling but if you're paying attention to the food you are making you would see a 6 inch plus strand of hair on a sandwich. Their deli meat is so incredibly fresh and the sandwiches are massive! Their half is easily a whole anywhere else and so incredibly filling. I decided to go ALL IN with the #5 which is the Super Sub! This is a combination of 1, 2 & 3 which is Pressed & Boiled Ham, Salami, Proscuttini, Cappacola and cheese, which is provolone unless you ask for White American or Swiss. And I decided to add pepperoni so I can truly tasted all the deli meats they had to offer. So incredibly GOOD!! Not sure any of the pictures could do these sandwiches justice because the smell alone leaves your mouth watering to already take a bite! If you are like me, you might want a little kick so I asked for hot peppers which came in small container and they also have oil & vinegar to go as well. My wife and I have visited the Franklin Park and Edison locations for over 20 years. These subs are far better than any sandwich shop in NJ. The breads, meats and cheeses are always fresh and tasty. While there's not much ambiance due to the small size of the shop, the staff are very courteous and helpful while making your order. read more

Use to be the best sub place in town couple years ago now you can't even go in and get what you want on your sub without a person messing it up. They don't listen to you and put random things on your sub I asked for oil and vinegar and they put salt and pepper on my sub. I have been to both the Edison and Kendall Park Tastee Sub Shops. Both locations has the same exact menu so there're no surprises there. All the ingredients including breads are baked fresh. Subs are made to order and any line moves quickly due to their assembly line set up. There are just a few tables to sit and eat - as most people get their orders to go. However, there is always a free table if you decide to sit in. Front of the building has only few parking spots but there's a big parking lot behind the building. The prices are good for the quantity you get. Always a great sub, very consistent, fast and Tastee. Highly recommended! read more

When we got there there was about 4-5 people ahead of us. For how fast they are supposed to turn over sandwiches we were there for more than 15 minutes. This was unheard of back in the day. The woman behind me wasn't familiar with the way things were ordered in the establishment.
