Visited The Village Inn for a casual lunch with friends. The inside has been renovated within the last couple of years and plays into the local sports team rivals. Their menu offers classic bar food, pizza, craft beer, and tons of specialty cocktails. Jess served our table and could not have been nicer. She made some great food recommendations including their Pickle Bread which we had to try. Our group shared the Pickle Bread with a side of ranch. I was hesitant on what the flavor would be like but it was so worth it! Their ranch is also homemade and delicious; be sure to get a cup! For mains, I got the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Chunks (boneless wings). The chicken chunks had a nice breading but light in sauce. The fries on the side were all cooked to a different point so I picked out the crunchy fries to enjoy. Looked like a great place to eat! Nice music and was sat in the patio. It was nice until we sat for 10 minutes with no service. Another couple was sat next to us around the 10 minute mark of our wait time. They were served less than 5 minutes after being sat. I made eye contact with plenty of waitresses, yet no one came. This is a very loud establishment and that was not helped by the trivia game they play there on the night we visited. It was not possible to carry on a conversation with someone across the table from you. Service was good. The pizza was REALLY good - we had the deep dish that was shown on the menu - not really a deep dish the way I was expecting, but it was very good and that would probably be my top recommendation on the menu. Dive bar is all this place is. Went for dinner with my husband and daughter. We have been to this establishment before. Our experience was laughable, and that's just that. Our waitress was "new" and mixed up our beers. Only, we didn't realize until mine was half empty. When asking to get a refill on mine, since she mixed them up, we were simply told no and that we would have to pay for a new beer. I get it, stuff happens when you are new, our beers were very similar in taste so a mix up can happen, but come on. Would she have gotten fired for refilling my drink?? When husband went to order their Bourbon burger we were told that they couldn't make that. He went with their roast beef and gravy over mashed potatoes. This entrée was so sad, one could've thrown the potatoes and gravy against the wall and it would have stuck, it was simply gooey, tasteless and awful. My daughter ordered the stuffed shells, she really wanted pasta. There was so much sauce that it was pouring off the plate as the waitress placed it in front of her. The only edible item on the plate for her was the tiny breadstick. I ordered the BLT sandwich on their "famous" cameo bread...I have had this dish several times before and it is usually good. Albeit, the last two times it hasn't been. The bread was over cooked, the tiny pieces of bacon were burnt and chewy, it was loaded with lettuce and hardly any tomatoes or ranch. The fries were even worse. They weren't even cooked, they were beyond appetizing. $75 for a mediocre meal is infuriating. Needless to say, we won't be back. We have given this dive several chances to redeem it's self, to no avail. Maybe if they had some people with knowledge on how to actually cook food properly and own up to it's mistakes, seems to be over cooked or raw. Very sad for Sylvania. read more
