    Cevapi

A great find! Ordered the Cevapi as well as baklava. The Cevapi was delicious, with the meat both juicy and with a nice snap. The stars of the show were the delicious roll (assume homemade) and sauces, namely the red pepper sauce. Baklava was delicious as well, nutty and not overly sweet. Lunch was a great value as well, with the sandwich priced at $11 (incl chips) and baklava for $2. Restaurant quality food for fast casual prices. I visited at the Dupont Circle/ Farragut Square stop, though the schedule varies. Definitely worth a try!

OMG this place is soooooo good! The cevapi is so good! It doesn't taste fatty. the bread pita is soooooo good like soft and fluffy with a slight chew;) the spreads on the cevapi are flavorful and work so well together. I could eat the pita with the spread and no meat and be satisfied. the baklava has a lemon flavor that makes it really good and refreshing. The other dessert was also really good with a thin chocolate layer on top. Mmmm I can't wait to eat other things from here :) great customer service as well ;) follow them on ig to see where the food truck is @ffscratch

I'm so happy to have found Balkan food in Northern Virginia! Ever since I visited Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina last summer I have been craving these dishes. The cevapi with kajmak and ajvar brought me back! Loved the burek as well and it was a hit with my family. Definitely check them out!

Now THIS is what I envision when I picture a high-quality food truck: From Scratch, baby! (It's like the anti-Yumpling! Check my other reviews if you need context for that reference.) If you know me and/or follow my reviews, you might know how obsessed I am with sandwiches and now I have the chance to try Balkan sandwiches! I tried the Ćevapi and it was delicious! It reminded me of a Middle Eastern kefta kebab, except with ground pork and beef (instead of lamb/beef) mini-kebabs (the size of breakfast sausage links) placed on this homemade split pita-esque roll with an awesome roasted red pepper/eggplant topping along with a creamy cheese spread. Neither over- or under-seasoned -- juuuust right. Perfectly satisfying. It also comes with a small bag of Route 11 chips, which is a nice touch! I started with the Ćevapi because I know I'm just going to want to work my way straight down this menu. See you next Tuesday (when they come back to my office)!

From Scratch is DC's diversity in the food scene at its best. The first time I went, there was a Serbian gentleman making a bulk purchase- I knew then and there this was a hit. Everything is organic, honestly made, authentic and carefully prepared. I have a hard time choosing which dish to order every week but will usually go for the specials because I enjoy the element of surprise, and it's delicious every time. You can never go wrong with any of the items on the menu, but my personal favorite so far would be the Cevapi (pronounced che-va-pi) and the salmon burger. Bread is freshly baked "from scratch" every morning and has the softest, most wonderful texture. Also, don't overlook the items at the end of the menu- the Burek (phyllo stuffed with cheese- how can you possibly go wrong with that?) and the baklava are wonderful as well. Definitely worth chasing after the truck to see where it is every day so you can work your way through the menu. Hands down five-star quality!

Wonderful! Service is great, food comes out fast and fresh what else could you ask for? Since I'm from the Balkan area I grew up eating ćevapi, pljeskavice(serbian burger) and burek all the time and these guys nailed it! And a baklava at the end hit the spot. If you never had food like this, this is a grest introduction to it. As a Serbian, I'm totally recommending this to my friends and I'm bringing my family if they visit this area. Keep up the good work it was wondeful.

Quality of the hot dog was pretty good. I ordered it without mustard but regretted that decision because I didn't realize it would come plain without any other toppings besides radish. May have to try another item on the food truck menu next time other than the $9 hotdog that comes with chips. Owner is pretty attentive to his customers.

For 25$ u get meal for 4 persons and u gonna enjoy for sure. With yogurt or kefir on side,u have great breakfast.

The organizer had booked the brunch about a week in advance and had coordinated with the restaurant to pay a large group deposit. The reservation was for 1:30 PM, but our table was not ready until 2 PM. When we were finally seated, the table was only set for 20 people. We were in the upstairs room with another large group, so there was no space to really add two more chairs to our table. We had to crowd into the table to accommodate the last two people. Even though the brunch is bottomless with a menu to choose from, the servers decided to just bring random items from the brunch menu to the table. Honestly, some of the worst food I have ever seen. The vegetable vitamin salad looked like slop, as did the rice/salad dish, which I'm not even sure what it was called. We were also brought a trio of three dips as well as pita and cornbread. The dips were very bland, the cornbread was dry and flavorless. As I did not like any of the items that the servers selected, I begin requesting other salads/appetizers off of the menu. I requested the Greek/Mediterranean salad and the pickles, both were very underwhelming. As far as the brunch foods, the menu was literally all over the place. Even though this is a Balkan-inspired restaurant, there were items such as fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and shrimp and grits on the menu, which don't actually make sense in light of what Balkan cuisine is. The best thing I ate was grilled steak, which was on a platter with eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes. There were two Belgian dessert waffles as well which were underwhelming. The only decent thing about the entire experience is that our servers kept the mimosas flowing. Each person in our party paid $75 inclusive of tax and tip-- 100% NOT worth it.

It is a $24.95 flat price offering an appetizer, entree and dessert for that price. (Only available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 5-6:30 pm). There were about 6 choices each for appetizers and entrees and 3 for dessert. My companion had a mussel appetizer and I had French Onion soup. My soup was a great example of the classic preparation. Bubbly and browned cheese over a deeply flavorful broth of onions and a slice of French bread. My companion loved the mussels. As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac. My companion had Rainbow Trout and was very happy with it. For dessert we both had cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A good example of a New York style cheesecake. Both entrees were served with well cooked mixed vegetables. The portions were not a scaled down size but normal size. The meal comes with fresh baked toasted bread served warm. Delicious. The service was attentive which was to be expected because there were only 3 tables occupied. A complimentary shot of a what I think was kahlua was served at the end of the meal. Food was terrible. I had the rainbow trout which seemed like it might have come frozen. Topped with dull brown gravy and canned mushrooms. I'm perplexed how it's in business with high ratings. I've come here numerous times because the person I know (who's about 25 years my senior) comes here every Friday night.

My understanding is that they have two other locations in the DC area. During our visit, our service was friendly, quick and efficient. We had the all-you-can eat brunch for about $37/person. We didn't elect the bottomless mimosas though I was seriously tempted! We ate inside since I was worried about the chilly morning, but the enclosed patio looked delightful. I kinda wish we'd eaten out there! Noise levels inside were manageable. The food was wonderful and some dishes like the flatbread pizza were larger than I expected. I'll say I think bottomless brunches are best enjoyed by a group of 3 minimum, ideally 4-6. For two of us, it was hard to sample as much as we'd like, especially if we want to try different things. One gets full faster than you'd expect and I hate to waste food! A couple dishes that stood out to me: the little donut holes were a treat as was the white flatbread. The beet tzatziki served with pita bread tasted amazing! I'm less of a poached egg person, so I can't comment on those options. I didn't take pics of each dish, too busy enjoying them! The Seafood Cioppino itself was pretty good but not sure if I would order again as it wasn't very filling by itself. I also ordered a side of the Spinach & Oyster Mushrooms in Garlic Butter.
