Tacos with fish and spicy crab, pina colada

Delicious food and good cocktails, we've tried tacos with fish and crab, that's was really good!

This is small two-level restaurant in a shopping plaza. It has approximately 10 tables. There isn't much ambiance mostly because the only windows are in the front facing the parking lot and there is a giant TV at the bar. We went based on the positive reviews and the mentions of vegetarian options. It seemed impossible, though, to find the menu online so we were a little uncertain about the options. We went on a Tuesday night and during our meal we saw only one person working the entire time. He was the host, bartender, server, and busser. He disappeared for a few minutes and we joked that he might be cooking, or washing dishes, too! That said, he provided good service to all of the guests. There was no printed drink menu, but the server/bartender verbally told us all the available beers and the cocktails he could make. We both ordered the grilled salmon with sweet chili glaze, which was served with risotto. The glaze was tasty and balanced--not too spicy/not too sweet. The risotto was also flavorful. One of us had a thicker (center) cut of salmon that was cooked perfectly; the other had a thinner (tail) cut that was a bit overcooked. We would have liked the option for a vegetable as part of the meal but we definitely enjoyed what was on our plate.

Fish Tacos and salt free Margarita

I found this restaurant in a shopping center a while grocery shopping for my stay here in Puerto Rico. The restaurant is nestled between two other fast food restaurants that I had zero interest in when I saw the name From Scratch. I figured with a name like that how could I go wrong. I open the door I saw several people gathered around the bar and table surrounding so, it seems to be a great spot for the locals. I was greeted immediately and taken to my table in the loft. The loft had its own bar and my server was working solo, he took my drink order and a few minutes later I was sipping a well balanced Margarita. I had fish tacos on my mind for a while so that is what I ordered with spicy sauce. Abortion was absolutely correct for me, three tacos with crispy lightly breaded fried fish shredded coleslaw and spicy aïoli sauce. I will return for a burger, next.

Fish tacos- unique aioli really added to the flavor

The fish tacos were delicious. They had a great mix of greens and sauce to compliment the fish which was cooked to perfection.

We made happy hour and the mojitos (ask for which flavors they offer) are to die for.

They are tucked away down a side street off the main square, in a small corner spot that glows purple from the moody lighting inside. We didn't have a reservation, but there were open seats at the bar on a rainy Thursday, so we were able to sit right down. For two people, we shared four dishes, which was slightly more than we could handle in one sitting, but we were glad to have something to take home. The hushpuppies are a larger portion than we expected but a solid start. They are coated in honey for a touch of sweetness. The tuna crudo is a dish I would not skip if I was visiting because you can't get fish this fresh anywhere. It comes sliced very thin, topped with jalapeno, and swimming in a citrusy sauce. It was not overly spicy, just a small kick that worked perfectly. Dish three is where things really started getting more interesting. The brocollini is one of the best versions we have ever had. It has a nice basil-y sauce and thin pieces of fried garlic, and these flavors worked so well together. They really make veggies sexy. The standout of the meal, though, is the shrimp al ajillo. The employee who brought it seemed so excited just to be delivering it, no doubt he has had it himself and knew he was delivering joyous memories. The garlic flavor was unbelievable. Even the side bread, soaked in that garlic oil, was spectacular. The cocktails are well mixed, too. Their vieux carre features rum, an interesting twist on a classic, and it is very good if you are into old fashioned type drinks. Rum forward, potent, but sippable. For round two, I tried pasiflora. The description sounded quite tart and fruity, with rum, ginger, passionfruit, and vanilla, but it was so smooth, with a velvety texture, and a side shot of prosecco you could sip separately or pour right in. A fun experience not to be missed. Before our dishes started coming, they even provided a small dish of fried chickpeas to snack on with our drinks. I love that. Bonus points because we stumbled in on another day, which was a day they were supposed to be closed, to find they are a "margs and tequila shots only" pop up going on, with a great DJ and fun crowd.

The food was absolutely incredible, without a doubt the most flavorful meal we had all week, and honestly one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Order the chicken... WOW! Every bite was packed with amazing flavor. The service was truly exceptional. One of our servers, Allen, was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. He took the time to talk with us & he didn't seem rushed. The teamwork among the staff was amazing to watch. There was a gentleman constantly walking through the dining room clearing plates the moment we were finished, keeping everything spotless without ever interrupting our meal. Everyone worked together so seamlessly, and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed what they do. While we waited for our food--which actually came out super fast for PR--our daughters loved spending time down by the beach area. It was the perfect way to keep them entertained while we relaxed. And the view... photos simply don't do it justice. We had no idea just how breathtaking the setting and ambiance would be until we experienced it in person. If you're in Rincón, La Copa Llena is a must-visit!!

Unlike your typical Puerto Rican restaurants on this island, this restaurant is pretty white washed, so expect to be treated like it's mainland USA and they expect you to treat them the same. Water is not free. They'll bring you fancy water and charge you $5 for it. For food we got the Fish Curry ($32), Orecchiette Pasta ($28), and Tapa Poke ($20). The one dish not worth getting is the Tapa Poke as the portion is essentially bite size and you're paying $20. The others were pretty good, no complaints.

When the Churrasco Mofongo ($27.99) finally came out, the portion size was surprisingly small and did not reflect the price at all. For nearly $28, I expected a much more substantial serving and better overall value. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I also ordered four pastelitos at $2.99 each, and those ended up providing more food and better value than the $27.99 Churrasco Mofongo. It's hard to justify paying nearly $28 for an entrée when a few appetizers totaling less than half the price leave you feeling like you received more for your money. To make matters worse, the staff was largely inattentive throughout the visit. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, there were no updates regarding the long wait, and customer service felt like an afterthought, only because the question "Can I have an update on my order" was asked to the staff. A 44-minute wait can be understandable during busy times, but keeping customers informed goes a long way, especially when multiple families sat, ate, and left before receiving the order. Overall, despite the churrasco mofongo tasting really good, between the excessive wait time, the lack of attentiveness from staff, and the disappointing portion size, I left feeling that the meal was not worth the price. I hope management takes a closer look at both the service and the value being provided to customers.
