My initially call with From the Heart Senior Services went well, but they fell woefully short after this by misrepresenting the caregiver they sent, sending a replacement who had plans to eat a meal during a 2hr-only time period we were paying for and was not competent, admonishing us about what we asked the caregiver to do which we classified as "light housekeeping" but they did not and had no definition of what "light housekeeping" meant to them (e.g., we asked the care giver to clean out a refrigerator. The care giver was fine with this, but management personnel was not, huh?!). And finally, taking over a month with excuses and bobbling to return our deposit. Never again. read more

My mom's last week's were eased with the support from Rae. She was gentle with all of us and never left my mom's side. I've used From the Heart for at least a year now, and have been consistently delighted with the equality of caregivers they assigned to my Parkinson's husband. After a period of time in which we had a variety of caregivers coming and going, it has stabilized to several who have become familiar with my hubby's needs and changes. Both of these individuals are conscientious, attentive, and go above and beyond, doing rudimentary cleaning when hubby wants to nap. I have had one for a week 24/7 when I went on a trip and all pills were given (I had them organized), my 'to-do' list was carefully read and noted, and hubby was clean, fed, and nicely socialized. We had a terrible experience with From the Heart. At first, my mom was assigned a lovely woman named Lois. We were so relieved to have such a competent, compassionate person caring for our mom. Sadly, Lois wasn't able to continue driving from Santa Rosa and my mom was then assigned a variety of different caregivers to replace her. The first day Lois was gone, a woman came out and asked my mom what she would like done. My mom is very confused, suffering from a stroke and said she didn't need anything. We gave the agency a detailed list of everything my mom needed, which included reminders to test her blood sugar and meal prep. The woman said she was going to leave if my mom didn't have anything for her to do and my mom said okay. The agency said my mom asked her to leave and I should state that to be fair, however, we did say that my sister and I were to be notified of any scheduling changes. No one ever contacted us and our mom didn't test her blood sugar and went without her much needed insulin. They failed to protect my mom and blamed the entire thing on my mother asking them to leave (which she adamantly denies doing). After that, I called to ask the caregiver how my mom's blood sugar was and she didn't know. I asked if she took her pills and she didn't know. Today my sister called and the woman had done nothing for my mom. She just sat around and watched TV. We decided to pay for the last hour and a half and have the woman leave. She didn't help her, she just loitered at her house. What started out so strong thanks to Lois, ended worse than I would have ever expected. The two women at the end of her care barely spoke English and had no idea how my mom was doing. I asked if she took her insulin and the woman yesterday didn't know what insulin was. Just avoid this place. The woman you initially speak with will make you feel so good about using them, but the people employed there are hit or miss, with the majority being misses. read more

I called From the Heart Home Care in Santa Rosa because my mother needed someone to take care of her part time because I live in Sacramento and she has multiple health issues going on right now. From the very beginning the staff was very helpful, kind and compassionate. My mother is very happy with her caregivers and it has been a load off my mind to know that she is in good hands and someone is there when I cannot be. We went through three people in 2 weeks. My dad suffered severe head trauma in a car accident and needed 24/7 care as he was still learning to walk and speak again. We requested someone who would help my dad with physical therapy, encourage him to do his exercises, and just spend time talking with him. Simple right? Tricia from Pleasanton said it wouldn't be a problem and sent "Serena". Serena was...mute. Barely spoke, had zero initiative, actually watched us as we took our dad to the bathroom and offered no help. One day she came in, said hello, then went straight to the room we provided her. No interaction with my dad at all...the second person was more of the same and smoked...took smoke breaks etc. One person was great and indicated she works for other companies now because she didn't like how from the heart did business. We proceeded to find another company and attempted to pay out out account and get our $3000 deposit back. Guess what that process has taken two weeks and the managers (Santa Rosa lady) seem annoyed when you voice concerns or try to resolve any issues. If your loved one is in need of care this is NOT A SERVICE TO TRUST. They seem to be about getting as much money from you as possible so they make empty promises of services they can't provide. Frustrating experience and not worth the hassle. Update: Dominic S. the owner of the company was helpful in providing about a $275 refund of the about $2500 we spent. He was apologetic for our experience and was quick with his email responses. I wouldn't recommend the company for a loved one still because that life is priceless. Unless they are turning over and hiring replacement nurses and customer service personnel this is a company that has an average of 2 stars. I can only hope that as a company they've been able to acquire knowledge from the experiences of all customers and make adequate changes. read more

They are known for paying their caregivers very well, are very flexible with caregivers and their clients, and their rates are great! We have had only excellent care from wonderful caregivers, and always positive and helpful phone calls and visits with the office staff. We called this service because they were recommended by our Hospice social worker who said this agency screens their employees. The opposite was true. My Dad had a sharp decline and we were scrambling to get overnight care. A woman from the agency, Sharon, came to the house and assured us their caregivers were background checked, had at least 2 years experience and had references checked personally by her. My Dad is 86 and in the last days of his life. We were sent an older caregiver (mid 60's) that had the smell of stale alcohol on his breath, put my Dad's diaper on inside out, so his bed pad was all soaked. Then, when he woke my step mom up at 2 am to see if she could understand what my Dad wanted, she noticed his oxygen tubing was unhooked, therefore he had no oxygen! I had a bad feeling of the guy when I met him and he didn't even remember me from the night before. When I asked his experience, he said he rarely has had patients in my Dad's state. So much for screening caregivers and making sure they are properly matched up with patients as I was promised. Do NOT use this agency. They are quick to come out, take a deposit and send whoever to care for your loved ones, qualified or not. Leaving a dying 86 year old man with his oxygen tube unhooked and a diaper on inside out is elder abuse. This company should be shut down! read more

From the Heart Home Care handled finding caregivers for my Dad for over 5 years. During that period we found two wonderful ladies to care for my Dad - Raquel and Agnes. Both of them were caring, attentive and most importantly a second set of eyes to watch over my Dad when he needed it the most....when family was not able to be present. These women called me on a regular basis (many times after their shift) to just let me know how he was doing, if he need anything and some time to just let me know he had a good day. The personal attention they gave him was more precious that words can describe. They were so professional yet compassionate which gave me great comfort when I couldn't be there for my Dad. The office staff was easy to communicate with and allowed me to interview candidates before I made my selection. We got lucky not once but twice.
