I told them it was no big deal for me to come back later and they asked if 230 would be okay. Me and my kids went to The Teahouse (you can see that review too) and had a nice time and then came back. The stylist who did my hair was a lovely person and she gave me exactly what I was looking for....she also gives the best head rubs while she washes your hair. The price wasn't ridiculous either compared to most places around here. I'll definitely be back!

The place is at par with most salons but the cleanliness really needs some attention. The table I was made to sit on was all hairy, and it was Not mine... she cleared out the hair of the previous customer below the seat, but forgot the table. I believe coming with appointment is preferable so might do that next time. I was in and out in 20 min flat, so again, appreciated that too. I got what exactly I had asked for. They do charge 3% on credit card payment and 0.35 for debit card payment.

Starting with the good things: The staff was very nice and they did include gratuity in the price (which didn't say upon booking) I came for a routine haircut and asked her to shape up my curtain bangs. Instead I left with a chunk missing from the back of my hair and half of my hair in extremely short bangs. I also have "steps" instead of layers. The blow out was also very poor. When I left initially I didn't see the damage that was done, and there was no effort to show me the back but I didn't think too much about it. It was only when I got home and looked at it properly in the mirror and desperately tried to restyle my bangs. Was asked to ask for Melissa. When I got there for my appointment told I had called for a wash and cut and told me she was ready for me. While she was washing my hair I explained i wear my hair in an Afro and wanted a blow dry hair-to cut ends. I asked about the brand name shampoo and conditioner she was using. She explained the conditioner she used was a good brand but was not the deep conditioner. Also explained that I just wanted ends trimmed. When she was done she had straightened mg hair line she was going to put curls in it and my Afro didn't stand. She charged me twice as much as they quoted which included a cut, shampoo, and full style which I wanted but also a texture add on and additional basic fee. After switching beauticians due to my former beautician changing on me, I needed to find a new one…read moreand being a person with natural virgin hair, it isn't simple finding someone who will strictly work on my texture of hair since most black beauticians stick to permed hair. So, after calling a couple of salons in a short amount of time, thankfully, I found this one! Who knew, Smart Styles located in Walmart would be any good? I surely didn't. I walked in and beautician Angeleak immediately assisted me. She washed, blow-dried, and styled my hair without being unprofessional. She wasn't eating while doing my hair or gossiping about others, she was just professional. She was very kind and patient with me. Also, she did my hair perfectly: she styled it so my curls would be full of volume, shining, not greasy looking, and whatever shampoo she used it got rid of my dandruff and my itchy scalp issues. I've been wearing my hairstyle for 2 months without it falling. It is really holding it up and I'm so excited I have found a great beautician. If in doubt, call Smart Styles and you won't be sorry. I'm not gonna lie, at first I was feeling skeptical about it, but I'm glad I went with my instincts. Also, they take walk-ins, so no issues.

I did have to wait 20 minutes after my appointment time, so at first, I wasn't super happy because I had a event I had to get to so I thought they wouldn't be done in time, But they actually were able to do everything I needed them to do within the timeframe of my appointment window. My hairstylist listened to what I wanted done, and she did a great job.

I know Texas is humid, but it's not that humid and it hasn't been humid for a while. At least not humid enough to make my hair poof out like that. I always go in and say listen my hair is this texture, it behaves this way. And, as always, they disregard what I'm saying and do whatever they want. This is what happened. I paid $55 plus a tip for my hair to look like this the next day. I am so disappointed. I can blow dry my own hair and get it to do what the second picture does. I won't go here again, unfortunately.
