Absolutely fantastic food! I love this place because their menu is large and they have daily specials, etc. you can't go wrong here. I probably won't be back though. They like to play Fox News with the volume up all day and, ya know, to each their own. But I can't eat food while six people on the tv take turns telling me I should lock myself in the house and never go outside again. Sorry, maybe it was just a bad day? No winners from the menu assortment on our table. Appetizer of mozzarella cheese sticks arrived cold, followed by an inquiry if we would like the container of marinara sauce to go with them too? Both meat options from the "meat / three" weren't good. Beef and rice was not seasoned and the fried chicken breast, smaller than a deck of cards, was hard and difficult to cut. Green beans had several long hull strings (usually found in cheaper canned vegetables), dressing was dry cornbread- no moisture at all. The side of corn nuggets consisted of FIVE nuggets about the size of dice. The brightest spot was the dessert that "comes with" the meat / three, but we had to ask for; Yellow cake/chocolate icing like from the school lunch room. The staff wasn't rude at all, they were polite (but primarily task focused), talking mostly to each other about who had to mop their areas and how they disliked doing it. We didn't complain, any manager present to receive it would already be exposed to seeing the food going out of the kitchen and team's engagement... so if this feedback reaches the eyes of the business stakeholder with a financial stake, I hope it's helpful. While in Millbrook on Saturday for a robotics tournament at the high school I ate breakfast and lunch at Front Porch Grill. Both meals were excellent, multiple dining rooms were busy and full. Our table had a 3 way charging cable and I sure needed to recharge my phone. Leave the interstate at highway 14, this is well worth the 3-4 mile diversion. read more

I received a great recommendation for lunch in Millbrook of the yesterday. Pulling in to the full parking lot at Front Porch Grill at 11:15 yesterday was the first good sign. I ordered the boneless pork chop with field peas, fried okra, and turnip greens. The second good sign was that the okra was not the over-breaded frozen junk you see just everywhere these days. All the vegetables had and excellent flavor and the bread crumb breaded pork chop was excellent. It was accompanied by a first class (meaning fresh and not sweet) corn bread muffin, however, the real star of the show was the peach cobbler. It was the best I've had since my Mattie died. I really thought about buying a whole platter to take home. It was a great experience from start to finish. Next time I find myself up the 'Brook without a lunch this will be my go to place and I recommend you make it yours as well. read more

This place is near my home so i eat there often. The food is always good (great hamburgers) ... the only thing lacking is the service it could be a little better. We went in one weekend night a while back and they told us to have a seat anywhere... there were only 4 or 5 empty tables and they all still had not been bussed ...so we left and went somewhere else ....went back recently for lunch and got hamburgers the waitress brought our drinks but never brought our menus...we had to ask another waitress for some menus. I asked for a bacon cheese burger but no bacon came on it but it sure was bacon on the bill ....also the man behind us had ordered only to be told by the waitress about 15 mins later that she forgot to turn in his order lol....anyway good food just spotty on service. UPDATE...Came again last week and ate... food was great as usual and they had a whole different server crew ... the service was awesome much better than last time I was there... they have also gotten new tables and chairs and spruced it up a bit . read more

This place is absolutely delicious. I recently just returned back to Alabama from a deployment, and it was amazing to have a taste of soul food again. Tammy was our server, and the service she provided was superb! My mom and elderly grandmother was indecisive about their menu decision, Tammy was super patient and provided great recommendations. She was the best server, a heaven sent angel. Although this was my first time eating here, I've felt like I've known Tammy forever. Finally got around to giving Front Porch Grill a try after years of living here. I called and placed a to go order of 2 orders of Fried Green Tomatoes, an order of Fried Mushrooms, Chicken Tender dinner with fries , and the Catfish Fillet dinner and substituted the fries and coleslaw with fried okra and the garlic mashed potatoes. I was told my order would be ready in 25 to 30 minutes. What I should have been asked is how long will it take you to get here? Why, you ask? Well, it took the 25 to 30 minutes to find a place within walking distance just to park. Once I was finally inside, the noise alone was enough to almost make me walk out had I not needed a rest from the walk from my car. Now, as far as the food itself, entire order was correct and hot. The fried green tomatoes were not nearly as good as I had expected, in fact, not good at all and most of them had batter that was way undercooked. The mushrooms were decent but way overpriced for the amount you get. The chicken tenders were delicious and great quality breast meat but so small they should be called chicken fries. The fries that we ordered with the chicken tenders were pretty good, definitely not freshly hand cut. The catfish fillets, I have to say were great. They were crispy and well breaded, I was impressed actually. Now, as far as the fried okra, it definitely had the potential to be great, all the right tastes were there but the breading was soft and falling off. Finally, the garlic mashed potatoes, I would have rather had the just add hot water and stir from a box, than this yellowish, semi translucent, sticky glob of "garlic mashed potatoes" any given day. I feel really bad about giving a ONE STAR review, but to give more would be dishonest. The ONE STAR is actually for the cashier who got my change correct. A lot of people love Front Porch Grill, but it's definitely not for me. Tip: The parking lot here is an absolute nightmare. I met a friend for lunch at The Front Porch last week and was told they had a great meat and three. It was really disappointing. The meat was ok; and except for one (the peas) the other side items were not very good. The cornbread dressing was devoid of any flavor or seasoning. It was like eating some sort of bland cornbread mush and the fried broccoli and cheese bites and were barely warm, including the cornbread pancake... Since this was my first visit, I didn't realize I could have gotten something else, like a hamburger or steak. I was never offered a menu and I'm not even certain they had one. But it would have been nice if the waitress had said something. Not everyone who walks in the door is a regular and knows the drill. I'm willing to give it another try, but hope the owners will take note of what new customers experience... read more

The service was awesome but the food was bad. To be fair my wife and I both ordered shrimp po boy and this clearly is a hometown meat and three place. The shrimp was clearly frozen pre-breadded, asked for tarter sauce instead of the cocktail sauce that came on it. Tarter was in a packet, asked for lemons for our water, some thing, packet. The reviews on Yelp made this sound like a much more upscale place than it is. It was packed so I am sure had I gotten the beef tips with rice and veggies I would have been happy. read more

Food was delicious and the staff was warm and welcoming. I came in tonight right before the dinner crowd and was greeted by warm hellos. I ordered the 12oz ribeye with fried okra and potato salad. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium and had no need for steak sauce. I wanted to cry when I got home and realized I left my take away box sitting on the table. Went here on a whim for steak and eggs, their sign says steakhouse and that did not disappoint. Was greeted and seated promptly, drinks never empty, and the food was awesome. The steak and eggs breakfast will not leave you hungry. I'm 6' 8" and almost finished it. The bite I had from the cap of the ribeye I ordered was one of the best bites of steak I've had in a long time. If I'm ever back (hopefully not due to a hurricane again) I'll be returning here. read more
