I'm writing this as a former employee who genuinely came to this shop ready to work hard and do my job. I'm a husband and father who was working to provide for my family, and I always tried to keep God first, treat people with respect, and give customers the best service I could. I showed up early, worked hard, and made sure customers were getting in and out. I wasn't hired to be somebody's personal helper or to simply agree with everything another employee said. I was hired as a mechanic, and I take pride in my work. Unfortunately, one employee, Manny, seemed to have an issue with me from the beginning. I felt like I was constantly being treated disrespectfully and expected to act like a yes-man instead of being allowed to do my job as a technician. If I disagreed with something or had a different opinion, it wasn't welcomed. What really disappointed me was management's response. Rather than hearing both sides and recognizing the work I was doing, my boss chose to take Manny's side and let me go. I actually have the text messages from my former boss confirming that Manny told him I wasn't right for what he was looking for and that he was letting me go. That's what makes this experience so frustrating. I wasn't fired because I didn't want to work. I was working. I wasn't fired because I didn't care about customers. I cared about them. I was fired because I wasn't willing to let another employee push me around or treat me like a dog. As far as my experience with Manny as a technician, I also witnessed things that concerned me. There were situations where sensors were unplugged and parts were being changed without what I considered proper diagnosis first. In my opinion, that's how customers end up paying for parts they may not have needed. A good mechanic should diagnose the problem, test the system, and then replace what's actually defective--not just throw parts at a problem. Manny also seemed unwilling to listen to another technician's opinion. Everything had to be done his way, and shortcuts seemed more important than proper diagnosis. I know the mechanic I am. I know how hard I worked. And I know the way I treated customers. Losing this job isn't what bothers me most. What bothers me is seeing a hardworking husband and father who was trying to provide for his family get thrown away because management would rather keep one employee happy than recognize another employee's hard work. I wish the owner and the shop the best, but my experience taught me that being a hardworking, respectful employee doesn't mean much if management has already chosen sides. Customers deserve proper diagnosis. Employees deserve respect. And neither should have to kiss anyone's ass to get it. 1/5 -- I would not recommend working here based on my experience, and I personally would think twice before trusting my vehicle to a shop where this is how things are handled.

Please make sure to avoid the specific store located at 2139 Hempstead Turnpike in E. Meadow, NY. Warning: Set aside some time because yes, this review is lengthy. I brought my vehicle in to have four new tires installed for a 2018 Jeep Compass. The SUV was left with the mechanics, and I went across the road to have some coffee. About fifteen minutes later Mavis calls. They claim that I will need lug nuts because not some but ALL twenty are "swollen" and too old to replace. First though I am suspicious that it is every single lug nut (each tire takes five) and how do I prove this, I ask what the cost is for new lug nuts. After a lengthy hold the sales person tells me, "Well they are usually $74.99 EACH, but we'll give you a discount of $29.99 each. So suddenly the bill is going to be an additional $600 plus tax. Wow! I reply that it is way too expensive and tell the person to have the old tires put back on. I cannot pay an exorbitant extra fee. He says okay. Five minutes later before I reach the store, sales person calling again. He states that the tires cannot be put back on because the lugnuts can't be reinstalled. Does that makes sense? Unlikely. I tell him that I will try to find lugnuts at a more reasonable price. He agrees. So I walk to a nearby Auto Zone to purchase lug nuts-the key nightmare word of the day. They only have six in store. They also cost $10.99 each! Quite a bit less than Mavis's "discounted" price of $29.99. Auto Zone only has six in stock. Uh oh. So I buy them and have Auto Zone order the remaining lugnuts from a local store ten minutes away in order for Mavis to complete the job. Eventually they agree to have someone drive to the other location to pick up these dreaded lugnuts. My jeep just sits on the lift being held "hostage." Hours later a sales person returns with the additional nuts.. As I am waiting at the store I walk over talk to the mechanic and grab an old "non reusable swollen" lug nut-this is KEY info, so please read the rest. Mavis finally finishes the job installing four tires about 4.5 hours later. The car has been removed from the lift. *** Are you ready for this? I take the used lugnuts a few I picked up, and show it to an honest mechanic by reputation. His response: these lugnuts can certainly be reinstalled on the tires. There is no need for new ones. The bottom line is if I had been forced to purchase the lugnuts through Mavis at their prices it would have been an extra $600 plus tax. As it is after walking for a mile total to the Auto Zone, and then waiting hours I paid an extra $220 plus tax. BUT did I need the lugnuts in the first place? HIGHLY UNLIKELY! It is hard to believe that Mavis pulls these stunts with various unsuspecting customers and let alone charges ridiculous prices for this simple nut but it is what it is! One has to wonder just how many customers paid significant extra dollars for lugnuts that they never needed. Beware. folks. AVOID this Mavis at all costs! No pun intended.

Always looking to bang you for services you don't need. Found the service at Goodyear to be excellent, friendly and quality work. Dave is great along with Walt and Dennis. I've had bigger jobs done there besides general service. They work with CarShield and that is a bonus compared to a dealership. While in the waiting area, I always observe customers coming in to check out various issues from putting air in a tire to removing a registration sticker because they didn't have a scraper. They were always obliging, stopped what they were doing and helped out as a courtesy. Richie did a great job on replacing my A/C condenser and I appreciated Eric for the ride home and back.
