I ordered the Chicken Tikka and have no idea what I got instead. Small pieces of meat in a moist and greasy coating and not the traditional spices for this dish, in fact, nothing even resembling an Indian spice palate--and I have been eating Indian food for 40 years! There were no chutneys or dipping sauces. I ordered two entrees to take home and at the end of our meal, they had forgotten to make them. They apologized, then I *thought* they were offering us rice pudding to make up for it, but then they charged us $12 for that. By this time, it was 8PM and they wanted to close up--not make my takeout. The owner wanted us to pay cash and stood by the table until we reconciled the bill and search through our wallets for cash. This restaurant is fantastic! As we were leaving Goshen and heading south, we wanted to hit a diner for breakfast. Everything in town was crowded to the hilt, so we decided to stop farther down the road. Front Street showed up in a search with great ratings, so we navigated our way there. I can't believe our incredible luck! This cute, small restaurant is so much better than just a typical diner. The menu was packed with Indian, American, Italian, and Greek options. I had been planning on waffles when we were first thinking about a diner, but got a beautiful saag paneer instead! My partner still wanted eggs, so she got the egg bhurji with paratha. Both dishes were beautiful and flavorful. The paratha was a perfect brunch treat. We had leftovers to eat at home after a long drive, for which I was very grateful. I will confess that I only ended up there because everything else within walking distance of the Port Jervis station was closed on Monday (what? whaaaat??), and it was raining, and I was starving, and seriously. The atmosphere was really cozy and relaxed; the staff treated me as if I were truly welcome there, not just a customer; and the food was actually tasty. This place was surprisingly very very good! The portions were larger than expected, everything tasted fresh, and prices are very reasonable. The items we got were different than what one would expect based on your usual Indian restaurant. We ordered take out: veg samosas (would pass next time but my daughter liked them. Not a traditional doughy potato samosa, more like a crispy wonton); chicken biryani (delicious and huge amount of chicken, and creamy -?!- which was unexpected, yet really yummy) and chicken korma (really nice flavors and great portion). When we found this listing on Yelp we really thought we had found a diamond in the rough-- a small, family place offering traditionally prepared ethnic cuisine in a surprisingly rural location. Unfortunately, it was the worst Indian food I have ever had. We ordered the samosas, which turned out to be deep-fried wonton wrappers around frozen vegetable mix. We then ordered two vegetarian entrees (mattar paneer and aloo gobi) and naan. The naan was so dry and bready-- not light or soft or crispy on the edges at all. The entrees were nearly inedible. They had a sort of dirty oil taste to them, perhaps because it is difficult to acquire ghee in this area? I was shocked. Went to this cozy eatery this evening and it was worth driving 30 miles to get there. We ordered chicken Korma and aloo gobi. The korma was rich and delicious and the aloo gobi, although a bit spicy was flavorful and tasty. The naan bread was fluffy and thick enough to hold all of that delicious sauce. I Can only testify to the Chicken tikka masala. It was the worst I've ever had , truly tasted like tomato soup dumped on boiled chicken breast. The samosa was not really a traditional samosa and lacked any spice. The naan was fine. I saw other items go by and the fries looked good Definitely would not go again for Indian food. read more

This is a quiet unassuming little spot in a corner of a strip mall away from the main st of Port Jervis. But when my husband and I were planning a hiking weekend in the area and we saw that there was Indian breakfast here we jumped on it....I mean, how could we not! We stopped in at 10 am ish on a Sunday, and it wasn't too crowded. There is a small er to medium seating are with tables for maybe 30-35 folks. Soon after we sat down, two other couples left making us the only ones there...but they seemed to be taking a stream of take out orders. We were really only interested in the Indian breakfast so we each got the egg bhurji. It was delicious, to say the least. As desis who know our food, I can definitely say this was on point. It had heat from the green chilis, solid Indian spices and it was very flavorful. Comes with paratha and a bit of veggies...all of which was cooked and prepared really well. We did find that because we were hiking a lot the day before...it wasn't quite enough food for us. We ended up getting toast on the side, which was great rye bread and well buttered. Prices are more than reasonable, it is definitely got that diner vibe so don't expect much in terms of ambiance except....familiar and family like. Great little local spot. read more

Now i just went there today ordered some buttered chicken with a side of nan, rice and mango lasse and it's not the same at all! the nann is stale the mango lasse is not creamy like it use to be just basically milk at this point. I'm enclosing the photo to give you a better idea where it is. they also have very high speed Internet ,very happy about that. as to the meal I had chicken saagwala number two on the menu for chicken specialties. I went for the reviews and the variety in its menu. I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the cheeseburger and chicken tikka masala (I know it's a weird combination- hey but I was craving both) The cheese burger came with just meat cheese and bun for like five bucks. But that's okay, I should've checked. But the meat was very mushy and it tasted like someone smashed three different types of meat sloppily and cooked it together. I would skip. The chicken tikka masala was subpar as well. It was way too cheesy and I tasted none of the normal spice taste. Definitely not the traditional Indian taste if you're looking for that. Never have I been so disappointed in food before. We were at a local shop and the lady pointed us towards this place for a quick lunch takeout. We ordered the food mild and the spice must be the only thing that adds flavor. The chicken Tikka was white tasted like canned tomato with some cream. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to pour a "sauce dish" over rice for takeout. You get home to soggy soppy rice and no sauce... Ordered 3 garlic naan and got what seemed like one naan cut into 3 pieces. It wasn't lucious and puffy as I'm used to eating naan but maybe they had their own style. read more

When Yanni used to have the place by Kmart, my fiancé and I (and sometimes his family too) would go at least once a week. That was at LEAST once a week, sometimes more, for a couple years. We LOVE the food. Then when we had some crazy work schedules for a while, we didn't go for a few weeks. When we went to go back, he wasn't there! We were heartbroken and had NO idea for at least a year that he had moved to This new spot! We found him again on a random google search and we couldn't be happier! Our favorites include the mulligatawny soup, basmati rice, and chicken korma. We've tried just about everything on the menu and have never once been disappointed. The prices are amazing, the food is even better, the service is always on point, and Yanni himself always make it a point to say hello personally to his customers and he really tries to get to know each and every one that comes through his restaurant. The home made desserts made by his wife are to die for! I don't know what we would have done for our Indian cuisine fix if we hadn't found Yanni again!
