The bento box was a great deal, but lacking in execution. Chicken was dry, teriyaki was potent and salty. The shumai and dumplings were meat flavored but no detectable meat could be found in any of them. The sushi rice was not seasoned, but the soy sauce was very dark and intense. I was impressed with Salmon Lover's Deluxe. So I came back and got Sushi Deluxe Chef's Choice (pictured). The raw fish here is truly premium. It's incredibly fresh, with no fishy odor, and you can taste a delicate natural sweetness. The "wasabi" could have been better but it still tasted good. read more

Sushi was good. Service was so bad. Didn't ask us for our drink orders. They turned on the small speaker while he was taking our order and it was so loud and started to get annoying. I ordered the kalbi. It was so tough. I asked if the kalbi was supposed to be so tough and he said it's a traditional korean dish. I've had kalbi(ribs) (short ribs) and it has never been that tough. I was so hungry I just forced myself. He never came to ask us if we needed anything or how our food was. Our plates were done and just in our faces. I had to grab them and put them on another table. Not sure this time: First time I stopped here about 2 yrs ago while traveling, the sushi was great/ even memorable and recommended to a family member. Couldn't wait to go back. It's a small place, but that doesn't bother me; but don't go for the ambiance. Waiter just did his job, not very personable, but efficient. Visited again but something was lacking. My first time here and it is located perfectly in a strip mall near the movie theater. It's a great place to have lunch or dinner. It's not a large or fancy place but they do offer fresh sushi. This place is clean and the people who work here are very friendly. Their lunch menu looked great but unfortunately we were too late for lunch. Yesterday was my daughter birthday, since we were in the area shopping. She decided she wanted sushi. We stop in, wasn't sure of this place because there were no one in, so I gave it a try. Once we walk in, we weren't greeted ( 1st red flag ). We stated we wanted to eat-in. The waiter immediately profile us, clearly he didn't want to serve us but had no choice since it's his job. The waiter didn't introduce himself or greet us with politeness ( 2nd red flag). He didn't ask us if we wanted something to drink ( 3rd red flag ). He took our appetizer order first, and wouldn't look directly at us. You can see the frustration in his face. In the middle of taking our appetizer order, he stops, walks away to attend a white family of three that just enter to give them menus. Now we are pissed, but we stayed to give this place a chance being is my daughter's birthday. He drops off the appetizers, still didn't ask if we wanted something to drink. We had to tell him our drinks, and as we were giving our order he assume we weren't ready and turn around went to the other family to take thier order. No communication or not even a "excuse me for a min."He wasn't busy at all. My husband waited as the other family order, he stood up and ask if it was a problem. He said no, and by this time we asked for the check. I spoke to him in spanish as he was also from spanish orgin. I told him he needs to learn common courtesy how to serve. I explain to him that I am a bartender I would never treat anyone like that. I stated we planned to order a lot and that he forfeit a hefty tip if he hadn't done what he did. My daughter didn't deserve that. He thought by catering to the other white family they going to tip and not us. He was greatly mistaken. I'm so happy all they got was $14.73. The place is a bit small, definitely not good for large parties. The menus were kinda nasty and didn't encompass everything that they serve. HOWEVER, I was beyond pleasantly surprised at how good the sushi was. Presentation could definitely use some work but the taste was spot on. I had the spicy tuna hand roll and it was phenomenal. They have a special, 4 for $16.95.... you probably only need to eat two if you're of average build so it might be a nice spot for your third or fourth date (basically someone that wouldn't judge you for taking them to a total dive restaurant for some cheap grub.) We needed a Japanese fix after being without it for a year. Went here due to nearness and Bento lunch specials which sounded generous and fairly priced. The Bento lunch specials were not being served. The roll lunch specials were, and allowed no substitutions. We got two roll specials, which means four cut rolls and two small miso soups. It was probably the worst tuna and spicy tuna we've ever tried. Only the spicy salmon was edible or even had flavor. The miso soup comes in a coffee cup that's half full. It's bland. The wasabi is somehow bad. The ginger is the standard low grade pink colored perfume tasting ginger however it was necessary to cleanse my palate between bites. The rice and seaweed tasted bland and felt hard to the touch. The rolls were too firm, almost stiff. The soy sauce was overpowering. The styrofoam that the rolls were served in was hilariously unappealing. It's like what you'd expect your truck stop burger to go to be packed in. Overall it was supermarket sushi, but with less presentation. The only pleasure we had was laughing about how bad everything was. read more

Gave this place two chances. First they ruined my Valentine's Day dinner. Order sushi and the Hibachi Seafood Noodle (Yaki udon). Instead was given soup for $15.95. Called and was told next time you come in we will give you a $2 credit since the udon soup was $2 less than the meal. The sushi is priced ok but the dinners are WAY overpriced for the amount of food you get. Sushi is decent but the meals are mediocre at best. The udon soup was very bland. It tasted like miso broth, udon noodles and a few pieces of seafood. I ended up dumping the broth and added some soy, garlic and ginger. It was still pretty bland. Spouse spent $17.95 on shrimp teriyaki and got only a few pieces of shrimp. The teriyaki was ok but was on the bland side. It was a few pieces of shrimp, sauce served over white rice. The rolls were decent but not great. A step up from grocery store sushi. The best rolls were the Honolulu ($10.95) Mango ($9.50) & Tommy Roll ($10.95.) Each roll gives you between 6 to 8 pieces depending on the roll. We decided we would give them one more try for sushi only tonight. Called at 8 and asked what time they closed and was told 10:00. Spouse showed up at 9:15 and they all had their coats on and said "Sorry we are closed". The place is not the cleanest either. Not sure how the kitchen is kept but the floors are dirty, the few small tables were sticky and there was an odor of paint. Would rather drive to Wantage or Middletown. Had such high hopes for this place. :( If you decide to check it out stick to the sushi and call and order ahead of time because they don't keep normal hours. The fish is sushi grade fresh. The place is clean and both husband and wife are culinary school trained chefs. They are very friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or take a friend there for the sushi. I found the maki roll soy sauce to be very salty but you can order an adjustment to your liking. Ask for dumpling sauce. They are always pretty busy since they are the only sushi game in town so the food is fresh. However, due to the tiny location they are working out of, and limited staff, the service and food can be pretty slow if they are "busy". Atmosphere is pretty much nonexistent, if that's possible. This restraunt in my opinion one of the worst in the tri-state area. The oy good thing was that the people were nice that's it. The bad things were the price and lack of understanding. I ordered 2 California rolls but got 2 6 sets of California rolls. Instead of asking me individual or sets he kept silent (this could be my thing only but I work in food myself and I always correct myself to make sure and ask if I am correct) and it made it way more expensive than it should have been ($20.17 I think) . Secondly I went in and grabbed my food I ordered and walked back to my job because I was on my break. I opened the box to try and enjoy it and it was extremely warm to the point where i had to put it in a cooler at my work than after 7-10 minutes I took it out and had 2 pieces of salmon sushi and it was disgusting to the point I had no other choice to throw it out (on the side note I got very sick not even 24 hours later but idk if it was due to the warm raw fish or the sushi itself. To finish. This up I feel like this place has the potential to be amazing but for now I don't recommend anyone to come here (to have sushi) for a long while not only It was disgusting and I got sick from its food and that there are many better local restaurants where you can get better food for same price or less especially if your only 1 person The only reason im giving it 2 stars is the location and politeness of the staff the bad outweigh the good read more
