The stars on this place had me intrigued. I arrived about 45 min before they closed on a Sunday night. I was able to park in front and watch the car. I liked that since I didn't know the neighborhood. Great ambiance and music. Really! This can't be stressed enough. Like a flashback in time. I was disappointed to see no alcohol but the waitress quickly informed me of the beer and wine store a few doors down. She took my order and I went to get some wine. I got the margarita pizza with arugula on top. I said plain arugula and she confirmed I wanted parm too. Unfortunately chefs can't help themselves. And there was a drizzle of olive oil on top. Chris would be ashamed. Went in today with my sister. Waited for the 2 counter girls to stop talking to order. One got it wrong. We were going to take it to go but decided to stay, Get up to pay and add italian ices to the order to take out. and the counter girl with the glasses was rude and rolled her eyes. was very very nasty. So instead of doing that she took other people and said we had to wait. it was just really aweful. Meanwhile to workers making pizza in the front and making vulgar remarks in spanish (yes i understand) and giggling,. really???? if you gotta be perverted do it on your own time between the perverts and the nasty counter people. I found the food surprisingly good for an Italian restaurant of this type. I had a special of broccoli, shrimp, and chicken in a white wine sauce over penne pasta. Perhaps a bit more buttery than I would like, but overall it was hot, cooked well, and tasty. The pieces of pizza that others ordered looked large and amply sized. Kayla's service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Atmosphere was friendly, but mostly utilitarian. This was a working restaurant, where more energy went into the people than the ambiance. My husband and I have been going to Luna Rossa for years now on a continual basis, and are regulars of Joanne. She is terrific, very friendly, and attentive... A++! If I had to compare this place to no other pizza places in the area, I would likely give it 3 stars.However, there are 2 better pizza restaurants.Within fifteen minutes of this location so with that in mind , I have to give them a two star rating. Village at bruno's and poet jervis Pizza will give you a much better meal per dollar spent. This place seems to cater to idiots who don't know better looking for a slice before or after the movies. Shameful customer service, pizza is left sitting for hours due to low volume, and there are MUCH better options a stones throw away. The staff decided to reply to this, my review was honest. And for any hardworking member of the tristate knows, this place is overrated, under cared for, and has an owner who refuses to own his mistakes. By the time we made the five minute drive to our motel, most of the clam sauce had leaked leaked out into the paper bag. What a mess. Turns out a large order included only four small clams. The remaining sauce was thin and had little flavor. Lots of pasta but little taste. Very disappointing! Chicken with linguini was a little better. Not special but it had some flavor The Caesar salad had a few added cucumber slices and decent croutons. The dressing was on the side and seemed right out of a bottle. No anchovies in sight. No napkins and no plastic wear was included. The counter person did not ask if we wanted any utensils or napkins. Wfe will never order here again and don't recommend it. Went last night. The pizza was terrible not fresh at all. The girls at the front register were rude. The girl with the glasses seems to get mad when you place an order. Then as I'm waiting for my order the other girl says did you get this lady's order and the girl says "when I have time" and proceeded to get other peoples orders. Over the last 10 years, I have seen a few pizza men come and go here, but remarkably, the taste and quality remain consistent. Since the day I found this place, I don't go anywhere else for authentic Italian food. The family who owns this place is very nice. Chris was a fantastic chef and owner, he will be missed dearly. This place was on the way to the movie theater. So we made a quick lunch stop. We ordered their special two slices plus a small coffee cup size of soda filled with ice $4.50 Their pizza was not really that exciting for me but it was good. The slice was a bit smaller than a regular NY slice but for $4.50 I can't complain. I have to say that I really liked their crust it was very thin and crunchy. I would have enjoyed my slice more if it had more sauce on it. To me a perfect slice has enough sauce to carry the cheese otherwise it tasted and felt like just cheese and crust. They also offer other lunch specials like salads with chicken and different types of pastas for only $5. As we were eating I had a chance to look at their full menu and they offer a decent menu and I definitely want to come here again by to try their entree's. read more

Today I had 6" Hero with chicken cutlet(requested grilled, no problem) with roasted peppers, pesto, & balsamic glaze. My friend had Broccoli Di Rabi with sausage, 6 " both came either French fries-"Deliziosa" We will be back on our next shopping trip. The only thing missing was the no sugar ice tea, refrigerated. Wow. Stopped here on way home. Seats were dirty. I could feel the grit when I sat down. I wiped it with a napkin and it was black when I looked at it. Ordered premade sandwiches. Took forever to heat up our food. WiFi is non existent. As the pizza cook was placing a new pie into the oven he lifted the edge and blew under it with his mouth,I guess to lift it off the peel. Gross. So much for covid! Wife had meatball sand. All the time they took to heat it the cheese wasn't even melted. Meatballs were dry. I had chicken parm and no melted cheese here either. Let me tell you something... when my family left this restaurant after having dinner there on our way back to NYC from the Poconos, my wife intentionally took a photo of the sign in front of the place so we could remember the name. Every time I think about sitting there at that table, I can almost smell that delicious Eggplant Parm all over again. They made it just the way I like, covered completely with sauce AND cheese... not cheese only on PART of the eggplant. That crap just pisses me off and it'll cost a place 2 stars on my review when they pull that "trying-to-seem-like-a-fancy-restaurant-but-they're-just-trying-to-cut-costs" garbage with me. LUNA ROSSA did no such thing, thankfully, and the tomato sauce is robust but sweet. It's a casual place with tables across from the counter, and while you can serve yourself at the counter, we opted for full service. The servers were nice, they gave a damn about your experience, and were responsive. I was so happy. The only depressing thing is that they're so darned far from home. :( In any case, I'd like to congratulate the owner of this establishment. I've tried the restaurant industry myself, and I can tell you that it's hard to run one, but it's harder to run one that's truly awesome like Luna Rossa. If you live nearby, I envy you. read more
