Do not eat at this restaurant!!!! My boyfriend and I both got food poisoning from the chicken burritos. I ended up being hospitalized because I was so ill!! I put a complaint in with the board of health and they were shut down until it was up to standards. read more

I ordered a Frontera bowl, I was shocked when I saw that the veggies that came with this meal were Broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots that had clearly come out of a frozen bag. There was also no Spanish rice which it claims it came with. When I asked my waiter to order something different she argued with me about why I didn't want it. Wow, bloody wow, what a treat and experience we had tonight... The wife and I are in town from Charleston, SC visiting her parents and this place came highly recommended. We walked in late, about an hour before closing time but Javier their awesome bar tender told us not to worry and he had all sorted. The next hour was most likely the best experience, food, drink and hot sauce tasting I've had in my life. First he made us the best pitcher of strawberry / mango margarita we've ever had. I had the Tempora Fish Tacos which reminded me of tacos I had in Mexico many years ago that I've been craving my whole life. They even have a cart where they make you your own customized guacamole from scratch. You get to choose what you want them to put in it. What ? Who does this. What an experience. I nearly fell off the bar stool when Javier told me they had a hot sauce bar. No way, I said but he wasn't lying. They seriously have 10 different hot sauces to choose from. The hour just flew by but leaving the place I felt like I had a circus in my month. What an experience, what a treat. Just spectacular food, drinks and service all around. 3 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars from us. I think we'll be back again before we leave back to Charleston Monday. read more

3.5. Honestly very okay, even good! If you're looking for americanized Mexican food classics you can find them here. Very similar to other Mexican restaurant chains. Service was excellent, Ronald was our server and he was great. Everyone was extremely nice. The chips were incredibly fresh and they have a huge selection of alcohol. I NEVER write bad reviews, but this can't be helped. Good things, first. The side-table guacamole was amazing. The restaurant is beautiful. The bathrooms..were, kinda awesome. I didn't expect that. But everything else. We waited 15min for our waitress to come back, after the drinks. Not that big of a deal, but it was a little irritating. I had skipped lunch. That's enough about that. Cold, bland chips that salt wouldn't stick to. Giant chunks of onion in the salsa. The queso was just "heat and serve" and it was completely inedible the second it cooled. Think big block of Velveeta, now imagine trying to dip a tortilla chip in it. I have neeever experienced that. One OTHER thing I have never, in my whole life, done is send a dish back. And I order the same thing every time, for decades. Shredded chicken taco salad. They brought me a mound of canned chicken, that looked and tasted like cat food, on top of a little shredded lettuce. Then finished it with a handful of prepackaged shredded cheddar. I knew the second my fork touched the "chicken" that it was canned. It had gray clumps of..like, slimy gelled mush all through it. It is exactly what you'd expect cat food to taste like. I couldn't even just eat the chips and queso, by then. The waitress was decent about taking it back but she was annoyed. My hubby asked for another menu, to order something else. She started to walk away, but came right back and began rattling off all these other dishes until I just picked one. Whatever, about that. The crappy burrito dish was SALT CITY. I was done. Guys, I don't know why they are not buying quality "food", but just don't go there. The prices are INSANELY high, for it. We ordered the El Presidente margaritas and shrimp and bacon tacos and the worlds greatest tacos. They were amazing. Sidenote, the cole slaw that came with the meal was amazing!!! Well, what a pleasant surprise! I honestly did not think I would enjoy Frontera grill as much as I did. From the piping fresh hot chips and salsa, to the delicious guacamole made for you tableside, there were various details that made this restaurant not only stand out from others in the area, but also incite the desire to repeat. Service for us on this day was top notch. The waitress checked up on us regularly, our drinks were always filled, and she gave us good suggestions based on what we normally like to eat. Portions are huge and unless you're really hungry, it wouldn't be a bad idea to split a meal that way you can order the tableside guac which is a must! Lunch started with a basket of chips that were very good, thin crispy and warm. I ordered the street tacos and they came out pretty quickly. The tacos loaded to overflowing on very nice fresh corn tortillas. I thought that the tacos were pretty dry, it wasn't until I was almost through them that I realized that there was a salsa bar. If only I had known!! Anyway, there is another location in Chicopee that I hope to check out at some point. read more

Not a fan of Mexican food but being treated to help a cousin move so came in with an open mind. The building decor is eye catchy and unique. Stuff plastered all over the walls which makes waiting for food entertaining. Music was certainly different but enjoyable to guess what they are singing about. I really like the plants on the booths, do not though like seeing a quarter inch of dust on the leaves. Rest of the establishment looks clean. For food I ent with a bowl of tortilla soup since I am familiar with the dish at On The Border when I go out with co-workers. It was a good bite to eat, I would have enjoyed it a bit more thicker. I liked the place, would eat here again. Try a burger or something. Neutral rating with room for self improvement. read more

This our favorite Mexican restaurant. Even after moving to CT a couple of years ago, we still come to Frontera's Boston Rd location. We like that we see many of the same faces when we dine there. Last time, I had the Korean short rib tacos and they were fantastic. But the star of the dish for me was the side of black beans. I have a new "Go To" Mexican place in Western Mass! We came here on a weekend evening for dinner. The inside is clean and well themed. We were quickly greeted and taken to a table. Service all around was great, no complaints. Attemptive, fast, and friendly. They have a salsa bar which is always fun. You can make the table salsa as spicy as you want! My only complaint here is that I wish they had fresh jalapeños instead of the jarred ones on the salsa bar... My husband and I both had pomegranate margaritas which were delicious. On the expensive side for Springfield though... Food wise we each ordered different tacos. The "World's Best Tacos" were decent, but oddly enough the Korean Short Rib Tacos were significantly better. Maybe even the best restaurant tacos I've ever eaten. We will definitely be back to each more of these. The prices overall are quite high though, again for Springfield. $12-14 for a two taco plate is definitely on the pricey side. Finally, the table side guacamole was definitely a nice touch, but sadly she never stopped by our table to see if we were interested... Some things to improve on, but overall an excellent experience and still worthy of all 5 stars. read more

I visited today with a friend hoping for a simple Mexican style meal. I arrived and was seated right away. We got chips and salsa, and our drinks. We ordered and got our appetizer of nachos which had a large hair in it. We noticed it before the waiter even left the table. He was happy to take it back and we were made a new plate. They were just ok, nothing spectacular. Our food came and we ordered the veggie fajitas and a New York steak. The New York steak was awful, and wasn't even the right cut for a strip steak. It was dry and tasteless. The veggie fajitas had a few problems, the rice wasn't cooked well, which is hard to mess up, and all the vegetables tasted like one carrot. So it was like having a carrot fajitas. Service was pretty good but I probably won't go back because the food is bad. read more

After my daughter won a gift card at a dance conference we decided to go for Mexican food. Doesn't look like much from the outside. I appreciated that fact that the chips were not heavily salted like most places are. The presentation of the salsa in a little wine flask was a cute touch. We came here recently and I was really impressed with this restaurant. When we walked in, the restaurant was packed. The hostess told me it was going to be a 25 minute wait, I asked if we could sit at the bar and still order from the full menu, and she said that we could. Great! We took the corner seats at the bar and honestly, I felt like we were still sitting at a table. The guacamole is made tableside and is ridiculously good.
