This is my first visit to Cana & Cafe... I came when it was slow. I was the only customer at the time. The service was great. The food. Now that is a different story. It was amazing. I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was easily the second best steak I have ever been served. It was perfectly cooked, a sauce that was rich and flavorful was ladled on top with mushrooms. All around asparagus spears that were fresh and cooked to perfection. On the side was a product that I have never had the pleasure to try in the past. "Yuca" it is in many ways similar to potatoes, but smother and more flavorful. I will be back. read more

Nice decor inside. Service was fast at first. Drinks were pretty but did not taste good. The margarita tasted very watered down. Very little taste. Neither one of us drank our drinks. Had to ask 3x for to go boxes. We had a party of 4. Ask for the check and was given one for the whole table. Was told it could not be split up. When we told her we were not paying together and she needed to split the checks she left and came back with an attitude. There is no sign and no one communicates that they don't split checks or automatically add 18% gratuity onto your check. The service or food is not that good to have an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill. There was one waitress/bartender so it took her awhile to get back to you. Seriously, how is this place not jam packed every night. That was some of the most flavorful food and drink I have ever had. The drink they call the Dominican Republic with tamarind and Brugal is the best tasting drink I have had in a very long time. So much better than the sum of its parts. And the yucca balls stunned me. I never knew yucca could have so much flavor. Fantastic. If you're ever near MGM or the Springfield Civic Center, you have to stop and give this place a try. I'm so glad that I did! read more

We came in with a group of seven on a Monday night. We were one of two groups. 12 people total in the restaurant. It was like the world was ending. We asked for separate checks - undoable. Maximum, they could only do 3 checks, so we divided into groups. Ok. No problem. We'll adjust for you. Three people received their food a good 30 minutes before the other four. Two received their food 30 minutes before the final two, and one person didn't get his food until at least 1:15 minutes after the first group. Unbelievable. We got to watch them eat. No Coke Zero or Diet Coke. Not great. Will never, ever, ever be back. The service was terrible. read more

The service was terrible! The server looked miserable and was quite rude. I went there with some coworkers (8 people) and they wouldn't split the bill. I'm assuming it's because the service fee that come with a bigger bill. The food wasn't worth the price (they're expensive). The food was delicious!!! I ordered the red snapper and it was exactly the way I love it - Caribbean style. And, the side of seafood rice was like a whole second meal and unbelievably tasty. My husband had the churrasco and it was cooked perfectly and the chimmichurri was great. We also had the chx mofunquitos as an app and they were so flavorful and a heaping portion of 3 - another whole meal. The drinks - meh. As for the ambience - lacking. Service could use some training considering the price of the meals. The price is conducive to the food, but not the atmosphere or the service. If it were either more upscale to match the prices or a better value casual Caribbean restaurant, I think it would be packed. I hope they work out the kinks as we really loved the food. read more

Food was decent but they refuse to honor gift cards that are still good with no posted policy and no remorse. the server nearly blamed the manager who never even appeared after I asked for them. ambiance is nice but very small inside crowding you. I wouldn't recommend taking your money to this scam. they are doing whatever they can to squeeze a buck out of you. read more

Had to find a quick stop to eat something before the Springfield thunderbirds game so we parked the car and rounded the corner and here was this cute place it looked very dark wasn't sure if it was open or not but then we walked in and omg what an amazingly cute spot I never would have thought that the inside was even like it was we asked them for quick food they recommended appetizers so we sat down I ordered a drink which was a great and smooth margarita and then ordered some empanadas and tacos I have to say that it was so good the tacos were so filling and the empanadas came with an amazing sauce to dip in and the ambience was spectacular I would love to go back when I have more time read more

Food was good but service was terrible. Only one table with 2 people were there when we arrived and yet it took over an hour to get our main entrees. No one else came in the almost three hours we were there or seemed to be ordering for delivery. After the food finally came a slew of people started coming out of the kitchen area to hangout at one of the tables. The whole vibe of the place was off putting. No explanation as to why the food took so long and they had no takeaway plates if you wanted to take leftovers home. read more

We got to check out this next restaurant in town. The drinks were very good and the staff very attentive, welcoming and polite. The food is extremely tasteful and very flavorful. The atmosphere and decoration were extremely beautiful. I'm only giving four stars because there was not a vegetarian option and when asked about it they said there was nothing to accommodate. This place is just lovely. Attentive staff and wonderful delicious food. Not typical fare and a really focused well thought out menu. The vibe is mellow and modern. This place is great. Totally different for Springfield and a breath of fresh air. We split a bunch of the apps and each one was better than the next. Presentation was on point, too, and every dish looked amazing. Tons of cool drink options for the adults and kids (my daughter was able to get a mango juice...who has THAT?). We were in town to watch a hockey game at MassMutual arena and wanted to find somewhere near there for pregame dinner and drinks. We found Cana Y Cafe and it was amazing. Family owned, delicious food (we had 5 different appetizers and they were all delicious - the Octopus was our favorite.) The service was incredibly attentive and we were almost late to the game because we enjoyed it so much. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in Springfield. Check it out!! read more
