This place is well worth the cost. Even the nachos are a religious experience, and to me nachos are usually decent but rarely remarkable. The tacos are some of my favorites anywhere. I went with my partner who has a gluten sensitivity. They assured us (on the phone before coming and when we were there in person) that they would be careful and had gluten free items. We have been to Mission Cantina Amherst before without an issue. However, they seemed to be much less careful at this location and he got very sick from the food after. If you have celiac or gluten allergies I wouldn't recommend this location because they don't seem to have a good sense of whats gluten free or take care to make sure you don't get glutened. This was such a hidden gem! I almost walked past it, but the glittering lights inside brought me in and they did NOT disappoint! The food was delicious and the staff were super knowledgeable about the spice levels of various dishes, suggesting food for each of our preferences! We had the queso fundito which was DELICIOUS (it was a mild spice for most, but a little too spicy for me to order again lol), and I had the loaded nachos with carnitas and they were some of the best nachos I have ever had! The nachos were extra interesting because they are full tortillas, not tortilla chips, that the toppings were placed on, and the carnitas were super mild on spice! The only thing that was a little lackluster was the drinks were quite sweet, so if you are someone who wants a more sour than sweet margarita, I would recommend asking for it less sweet. Took my family to Mission for dinner in Amherst. We started out with the chip and assorted homemade salsas and a liter of blood orange margaritas. The margarita was so good. We also very much enjoyed the salsas. All of us got taco platters of some sort and the flavors were fantastic. No complaints from anyone. Service was great and a good time was had by all. We went to the Easthampton location with friends from out of town. We always order takeout but this was a great opportunity to try the outdoor seating which always looked festive. West coast friends found the burritos to be excellent, my fish tacos were good as always (though not my favorite in the area). My partner's salad would have been pretty good had it not had so many micro greens that had gone by (ie slimy). Our server never asked about the meal, even when she left so much intact. I find their menu to be pretty limited though unlike other reviewers, it clearly and pleasantly states no substitutions so I am fine with that. We might be back but there are so many other great local choices, my vote will be to go elsewhere. read more

As the newest installment of Mission Cantina (Called "Mission Taco" or simply "Mission") here in my little town I just gotta say that I'm THRILLED to have delicious tacos, margarita's, and burritos in walking distance of my house. This may do dangerous things to my waistline. My partner and I stopped in on Friday night. We were swiftly seated at the bar and served drinks and chips. We had the Guacamole, the Salsa Fresca, and the Salsa Verde as dips. The Guacamole was wonderful, tasty. Mild. Creamy. The Salsa Verde is my favorite. It's reminiscent of coriander chutney. The chips were served warm. And before we even finished them our entrees were up. I got the nightly special a crispy chicken taco platter. It came with 3 tacos and rice and beans. It was very filling. The crispy chicken was well cooked. The beans and rice were delicious. My partner had the fish tacos. They were also crispy. She very much enjoyed them. I had two margaritas. The House Marg (Mission Margarita) and the Don Julio. Of the two of them I really liked the Mission Margarita. The Don was good, too, but it had a much stronger flavor. The place was hopping, but they moved things along really well. There were usually seats available, and the only time I saw people waiting for a table was a party of 5. The staff was friendly. The space is very nice since the recent remodel. It is tight, and seating is at a premium. My only complaint (seeing as I am so close) is that they don't have a more streamlined way to order take out. And the first time I called in I was told that take out was not going to be available for an hour or so. But, this was also early in the opening of the restaurant, so I imagine that will change as they get things more settled. I will, absolutely, be back. read more

There should be a sign on the gate that informs customers that children are not welcome. There are no child friendly options for drinks or food and our server made several comments that made us feel unwelcomed. I'm surprised they do not allow any substitutions or modifications to their menu, there are several things I would love to try but couldn't as I can't eat onions. The food was great but the service almost completely ruined the experience for us. We walked in at 8:15 knowing they closed at 9 and expecting to eat quickly. We asked for seats inside and were told they were full. We could see through the window that there were many open seats so we asked if we could be moved inside once some spots opened up,as it was a chilly evening. They said no, that they were no longer seating inside. About ten minutes after that, a couple walked up to the hostess and she asked them if they would like to sit at the bar or table and took them inside. Very frustrating to be able to see them sitting inside enjoying their meal after we were told no. I love the food and ambience at the restaurant. The missing stars are for our Door Dash experience with them. Twice we've requested no cilantro, onions or pico on some tacos. Twice they came with all three. Not a couple of bits that fell in by mistake but the generous amount that normally comes in them. The second time it happened we called to alert them and the person on the phone was very defensive and didn't apologize saying they were very busy and that we can't expect for completely onion free dishes. It's too bad because the chicken enchiladas with mole are great, but going forward we'll stick with la Veracruzana. read more

I waited a long time for Mission Taco in Easthampton MA to reopen after COVID and when they did their opening time of 4:00 was inconvenient fir me. But, I finally reached out to order I had high expectations based on what I had heard and read about their food. When I picked my order I was surprised the restaurant did nit smell much like a Mexican place. I am from Texas where there is some of the best Mexican and Tex-Mex food you can find anywhere. Neither did the food smell like what I expected either. As I dug into the shredded pork and brisket tacos I was shocked to find flavors not associated with tacos. There were chopped cucumbers and very few, if any peppers. It tasted all wrong. If I didn't know better it might have seemed like a whole different style of "fresh Mex." The Rice was blah and the black beans not much better. The chicken taco was the best of them, though nothing I would cross the street for. The price was way above average at $6 each and $6 for a couple of tiny containers were beyond what it was worth. There are better hispanic-style restaurants around here and in Northampton that are superior and more reasonably priced. read more

One of our first "emergences" was on a rainy Thursday, and we had the choice of take-out, or sitting under the big umbrella. We waited for a table in the umbrella, and the worker cleaned the table after the previous guests left. We had already ordered our beer ($4/cup) and our meal to sit-down, and a to-go order for lunch tomorrow! Our tacos were great - small for $4 in Western Mass, but they were laden and tasty. We needed three each for a meal, and it was enough for us. Spicy pork and pineapple, and carnitas were great, and the crispy fish was great because of my dousing it in the lime-juice I love. Quesadilla and burritos were the to-gos, and were good. Mexican food is never as good cold/heated as when fresh, but still substantial tasty meals for lunch at home. Total for it all was $62, and we tipped $18. Total of $80 for 6 tacos, burrito, quesadilla, and two beers, plus tip. read more

I got a very rude response from the bartender when I asked why she, the cooks, and the kid who handed me my take-out order were not wearing masks.
