Was in the area for an event and craving Mexican - glad we chose this for dinner! They had a great dinner menu - lots of different options other than your basic Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa were tasty and fresh. Queso was delicious - and fajitas were a great portion with fantastic flavor. Service was quick and efficient and food came out piping hot.

Birria Tacos
Valery R.

Me and my family went to this restaurant because it was close by and my aunt recommended it and these had to be the best birria tacos ive ever tried and ive tried birria tacos from everywhere!! the presentation was really nice, the tacos were GREAT, warm and very filling!! I did come in with a party of 14 I believe but everyones food still came out really hot and yummy! my boyfriend got the carne asada tacos and he loved them as well! I was also very hesitant to try their horchata because a lot of places have bad horchata but theirs was amazing and i have NO complaints on anything here! the place was very clean and very quiet. the people there were very helpful and friendly! I will definitely be going back!!

I still can't believe I live walking distance from this place and haven't tried it until yesterday! So glad I decided to come here for cinco de mayo like the gringo I am. LOL. We had two people in our party and were seated within 10 minutes which was shocking but I was so pleased! I thought we would've had to wait at least 30 minutes. We were also able to order drinks at the bar while we waited which was nice. Once we were seated warm chips, salsa and a tomatillo like sauce came out. I'm OBSESSED with the green tomatillo sauce it was so f*cking good!! We also got espinaca because well you have to when going to eat Mexican food! It hit the spot. The salsa was also tasty. For our entrees I had spinach enchiladas and my sister had the shrimp quesadillas. We both loved our entrees! They also came out ridiculously fast which was awesome. Our server was fantastic!! We overheard him say he had been working since 9am I felt so bad for him! But you would never know he had been working all day he was so kind and the service was perfect. I'm so sad I won't be close to this restaurant when I move in july but I will definitely be coming back as much as possible before I move!

I never leave here hungry....or thirsty. Their food is on point (do we still say that) every single time. Thank you Esteban for your fabulous attention to detail.

Oh yeah!!! Chips, salsa, and queso are on point!

So good! The food was delicious, service was great, and the beer was phenomenal. I love that you are given cheese dip automatically when you eat in. Prices are reasonable too.

Chile Verde Enchiladas

Knowing that we are always on the look out for quality Mexican food, a friend referred us to Fronteras restaurant. We came just after "lunch time" on a Sunday afternoon and while we were seated immediately, the restaurant was decently full of other guests. The hostess and waitress were both friendly and the chips and dips as well as our drinks were brought out fairly quickly. The red salsa was tomatoey and had some spice and was enjoyable. The green sauce was not as spicy, but still really good. I am in love with their house queso. My husband tried the chipotle. Chicken burrito which came with chicken, bacon, chipotle sauce and guacamole and was then topped with a guajillo Chile cream sauce. He got that with the Mexican rice and charro beans, which were more like pinto beans, but cooked with bacon and additional spices. He enjoyed it. My plate was as it sounded, corn tortillas filled with Chile Verde pork and cheddar jack cheese covered in Verde sauce and served with rice and refried beans. I had been craving enchiladas and am a huge fan of Chile Verde, so when I saw Chile Verde enchiladas on the menu there was no other choice for me. I really wanted to like my enchiladas. And to be fair there were bites that were pretty good. But overall there were several bites of pork left on my plate because they were completely fat with no meat. The chili verde sauce was very thin and almost watery so most bites you didn't get the complete flavor. The refried beans were phenomenal and I really enjoyed the rice. I don't feel like my experience with the enchiladas is the norm for this restaurant. Everything else I tried I really enjoyed. I definitely want to go back and order something else from the menu so that I can update my rating if warranted.

The National Margarita Day special at Frontera's restaurant...irresistible! You'll find me there drinking one of these on February 22nd!

I was in the neighborhood and just popped in to see if the atmosphere and the menu were enough to make me want to come back for a meal. Since I haven't eaten there yet, I can't fully rate it, but I am really looking forward to my first meal at Fronteras! The menu is extensive and varied, with several delicious-sounding offerings I wasn't familiar with. This restaurant has all of the things I look for when I want to go out to eat...friendly employees, good atmosphere, a great menu, and quite a few happy people eating there. February 22 is National Margarita Day, and they are offering a giant enticing one (check out my photos)!

3 stars: A-OK Came here around 5 on a Saturday night. It wasn't overly packed, and there was no wait time. Our server was very friendly, and the food was good. The Bandera Enchiladas were the best. Everything else was just ok, nothing spectacular or crave worthy. The queso dips (we ordered the two different kinds) were barely warm. Would have been nice if they were hot. Not a ton of flavor. The new quesabirria tacos weren't that hot either. They were just ok. The cheese wasn't super melted. Not a ton of flavor either. Food came out FAST. Like maybe 5 minutes. Overall, good service, ok food. Probably won't be back anytime soon though, as we enjoy other local Mexican restaurants better. I feel like this food was tamed down in terms of flavor.

Chicken Mango Salad

I found this restaurant last week and have been here 3xs now. Absolutely delicious, fresh and great service. Prices are extremely reasonable and portions are great. My favorite dish so far is the Chicken Mango Salad, it had avocado slices and mango dressing. You won't be disappointed especially if you like Mango & Avocado together.

My husband and I ordered lunch to go from here and weren't very impressed with the spread. The complementary chips and salsa were great and they gave a big portion of those but the tuesday chicken tacos were a let down. Just boiled chicken, tomatoes, lettuce and some cheese over flour tortillas wasn't something we were expecting. They were all individually wrapped and that was the only thing we liked about the tacos. We got a free small bowl of queso for ordering online and it was delicious! A little kick from the spice and very creamy. For the entree we ordered pollo del mar with a choice of mexican rice and refried beans. It was just three shrimps and some chicken over bell peppers and white onions with rice and beans and was nothing to write home about. They missed giving flour tortillas with it so we had to eat the whole thing like a bowl. They offered a free something the next time to compensate for not including tortillas in the order which was sweet of them.  However, I'll be looking elsewhere for a great mexican food experience. Their chips and salsa were very good though!

Food was brought to table far too hot to eat. Clearly excessively microwaved. Ordered gluten -free, got gluten. Sick for days.

Not as authentic as I like. I'm from CA and I prefer more traditional Mexican food, less Americanized.

Good Mexican food. I especially liked the cheese enchiladas. The two versions of hot sauce were good when mixed together.

The entrees were incredibly, I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Top notch, speedy service with a quiet but not awkward atmosphere. We will back.

Mi Ranchito is making it happen all over the metro and this location in Lenexa, even as tucked away as it is, delivers right on brand. The layout is a little bit cramped, but the service is fast and friendly, and the food is really good. The queso dip has always been one of their hooks, but it's the specials and the well-executed regulars that make it happen. The house margarita is a BIG drink, checking in at $9 and delivering well over that value. My wife loves their taco salad, a ginormous flour tortilla shell filled with a seasoned meat of your choice, guac & sour cream, and an array of crisp veggies. I love the cream cheese enchiladas, but I'm always up for an authentic off-menu special when it seems like someone's abuela is cooking in the back and you just know the food will be fabulous. It's always flavor on flavor and fresh on fresh, even when served on blazing hot plates. Prices are on par with the market, you can order online, but if you're coming in to dine, then know that parking is shared and it's cramped. But that doesn't water down your experience. Mi Ranchito brings the heat and the flavor, time and again.
