I have been flying Frontier out of Islip, NY for the past 7 years. They are kind, friendly and always helpful in my experience. Security at Islip is Fast, the Frontier counter is very friendly as long as you are not asking for free upgrades or free stuff that you should have paid for and the whole team was efficient. I last flew from Islip to Atlanta in December, 2025 and had trouble with my paperwork for my service dog. Queen Everett who is a Frontier employee was kind, helpful and gave me great customer service to clear up the problem and get me, my daughter and my service dog on the plane. I'm not often disappointed when I travel and I waited a while to post this review to allow a passage of time to cool down from a less than stellar flying experience. I've long believed that "personnel is policy" and it seems most certainly true here. On a flight from Long Island to Fort Lauderdale , most of the staff was ok, but there were several attendants that seemed to forget that they were actually charged with servicing a flying public. Short tempered and dismissive are the two terms that seem to sum up some of the attendants and unfortunately tarnished the experience of the others. I hope they fix this soon because the convenience of flying from Long Island could really use a boost with some great service. read more

One of the reasons I like flying with Frontier is because they go out of Mc Arthur Airport, it's small and the distance between this Airport and Kennedy from my home is about the same, but Mc Arthur is a lot more relaxed, the check in is a lot easier and faster then other airports, the staff from the airline is mostly friendly and helpful, if you're flying on a relatively short distance and you don't have luggage, this is the way to go, for longer flights am not so sure that I would enjoy it. read more

Reading this review will show about a dozen horror stories all in one experience. Frontier is the worst, and every other review shows it as well. We are back in the waiting area after 4 hours of no information, rude staff, sketchy circumstances, illegal threats by the staff, plane issues, and about 12 delay notifications... and now we are back to square one waiting for information. I'll start this review with the worst part of this. The staff was absolutely rude and dismissive. They were passive aggressive and refused to answer questions. There were several incidents on this plane, and the crew threatened to kick us off the plane if we filmed these uncomfortable incidents, even when we told her it's a public place. Now all of this is happening on a flight that started with them saying "We won't be boarding for a few minutes," to eventually a 2 hours delay. They had us standing there in line with no information, and staff members running in and out of the plane. One staff member was even walking up and down the waiting area looking at every bag, as if they were looking for something. The story that they told us was only half true and panicked some of the passengers. They told us that "there was a biohazard, as someone regurgitated in the plane and we needed to clean up." This time period of cleaning was over an hour where we had no information and had to just stand in line. When they finally called us, they skipped handicap and forgot to push those in wheelchairs. This made unrelated passengers have to help them and try to get them to the front of the line (that we were all standing and waiting on for over an hour). The boarding process was a mess. They had people called up the front, so people were moving to the front and back of the plane at the same time, squeezing passed each other. Once everyone sat, there was a woman who was asking (admittedly aggressively) about why the attendants were going up and down the aisle wearing masks after hearing there was a biohazard. While she did ask them aggressively, this led to a whole thing where the police had to come and kick the woman off the plane, delaying us more. The woman asking about the masks was wrong, but the staff overreacted and caused more problems. Another woman also had a medical issue. Both the paperwork for the police and the medical issue were done on the plane, making us all wait more. The plane passengers all already felt off from the wait with no information and very rude staff, and unusual behavior from the staff. The attendant also went around yelling at passengers to not record any of this or we would get kicked off, even though we were absolutely allowed to. Passengers were very upset and talking about how poor the experience is, so the pilot came on the speaker and passive aggressively offered for anyone to get off. Finally, said they were pulling away from the gate, and the plane drove a few hundred meters before stopping again for 10mins. The pilot tells us that we have to go back to the gate so maintenance can look at the plane, because something with the engine didn't look good. When we got back to the gate, the crew gave us no information. No information on plane updates, if the flight was cancelled, if there was another option, or anything about refunds. We sat on the plan for awhile not knowing what's happening, before they deplaned us. We are now back at the beginning of this, back in the waiting room with no idea what we are doing next. The flight wasn't officially cancelled, and none of us have other options. Not to mention the seats are uncomfortable and there was no water or anything. So after 4 hours of no information, rude staff, sketchy circumstances, illegal threats by the staff, plane issues, and about 12 delay notifications, we are back to square one. Update: 10 minutes after posting this horrific review, my family got yelled at for following the directions of the staff member in charge. The agent gave us directions on how to get on the plane first for handicap, and when we did that, the staff member checking boarding passes actually yelled at my family to leave and go all the way around and back on line. This same woman, when asked how to see the boarding passes on the app, rolled her eyes and told us four times in a row to go to the desk and get a new pass, refusing to help. We got scolded by this woman, she refused to help us, and she has our family separate and go back to the end of the line like we are toddlers, even though those were the directions of the agent in charge. All I have to say is WOW.i wish i could give a zero. .This airline is by far the worst airline I've ever dealt with. So let me start (this will be long ). I booked a flight to GA, a few hours before my flight i received a text that it was canceled, then I received another text that it was delayed. So I was thinking WTF. So I called and was told by some representative that it was canceled and I can't receive my refund. I asked now does that make sense? I'm not the one that canceled, the airline did. So he said yes ok I can give you a credit. I said ok but I'm getting charged 40 dollars per person for the cancelation. Mind blown how this made sense to this guy. So no of course I didn't agree to that. So he said I can call frontier customer service direct (btw i thought I was speaking to a direct rep, but ok ) . So I called and I spoke to this lady who said no it's not canceled its just delayed. So I was thinking oh great I almost had a heart attack. She said that she just spoke with another lady beforehand with the same flight issue. So I thanked her profusely (I'll regret that later.) And to expect an email (which i never got by the way) I get to the airport after spending 50 dollars on an Uber to be told my flight was canceled. And not by a frontier agents (because they all went home mind you), no by the tsa agent. Are you kidding me.So needless to say, that agent lied. So I spent 25 mins waiting for yet again another agent on the phone. She supposedly said I was getting a refund within two days and I'll receive a confirmation email in regards. It's been 7 days, I haven't received a refund (which of course ill be disputing with my cc company at this point ) and the email I did get was a confirmation purchase email. Like seriously what the hell. . So I'm left thinking, are the employees lacking in common sense, clueless, incompetent? Or does the company have very shady policies they enforce (oftentimes illegal). I mean they do charge 10 per bag to each employee that can pick out people that are about to board carrying a personal bag and charge them the 100 carry on fee even though their bags clearly fit the personal bag box (there are videos showing this practice ) So I'm fairly certain they tell their employees to give a person the run around if they request a refund in hopes we are too stupid to forget. So shame on the company and the employees for not giving a damn. Whoever runs this company will put it out of business. They should follow the examples of jetblue, delta, American Airlines. Not even just moved or delayed. They didn't give a crap what happened to us. There were 7 people in my party and we purchased our tickets 6 months in advance. They were offering us a $100 voucher for our troubles! Then we went on to having to search for a last minute flight which wound up costing us 2500.00 . On the way home we all just travel With backpacks.... They charged us a $100 fee for our bags and considered them a "carry-on" bag! That was another 700.00 that came out of our pockets because of their shit policy. No other airline has ever charged us for a backpack that goes under the seat in front of us. The airline is great and convenient, especially when flying out of Macarthur airport. Customer Service is another thing altogether. You CANNOT speak on the phone with them unless you are an elite member or your flight is within 24 hours. You can only chat with them on the app, website, or thru WhatsApp. It took me over 2 hours on WhatsApp to get my daughter added to a flight because we had a credit I needed to use for her. It was the most miserable and the longest experience ever. And they weren't able to finish my payment, so now I have to try it again or chat with them again or pay at the airport. I can't even give them one star! I made a reservation for my grandson and myself on Priceline for a flight to Atlanta on frontier Airlines. I needed to make a change on the reservation and found out that frontier has no human being to speak to. They tell you to chat with them. Well, I'm an older person and I don't like to chat when I did try to chat it kept going off track of what I was trying to accomplish. Finally I decided to go to the airport to speak to a person. I get to the airport and they tell me that frontier personnel are only there from 6 AM to 1 PM when their flights go out and I was not there at that time so tomorrow morning. at 6 AM I have to go back to the airport to try to fix the reservation. I don't know about you, but I think this Customer service stinks to high heaven. I will never fly with frontier again. We were taking a weekend trip to Florida and a friend suggested Frontier Airlines. He said "you can get a flight for $29. My wife suggests we try it. I'm the kind of person that doesn't do well with change. I've been flying Southwest to Florida for decades, but my wife says let's try and since her sister was coming along with us, my wife wants it to as cheap as possible for her sister. So there's a lot you need to know about Frontier Airlines. First, there in the old, or should I say original section of ISP Airport. Next, you pay extra for everything. Example: Carry on. $35 each way. Want food? Extra $. How about a bottle of water? Extra $. Oh, almost forgot, want to pick a seat. Extra $. By the time you're finished you'll probably pay close to what you might pay on another airline. Next, there planes carry about 260 passengers. This is the longest plane I've ever seen. Wait for this one.. seats are hard plastic with a very thin cover. To boot they don't recline. Food trays. About 3" x 8". Now I understand why they don't give drinks or snacks, they don't fit on the tray. Weighing all the pros and cons, I don't think I'll be flying Frontier Airlines again. Sorry. read more

You get sucked into the hype of the " Kids Fly Free on Select Dates" and $29-39 flights right ? Tag on a crap load of extra fees for breathing air, sitting on the plane, using your cell phone. (ok. I'm being sarcastic). If you're used to flying Southwest, this is not that. This airline is very dated. You can tell by the hunter green logo and terribly designed advertisements featuring endangered species. Once you start booking online, everything looks cheap until you see $400 appear in your shopping cart after Checked bag fees, Seat Selection fees ( If you want a seat next to your child !!!!). This airline is not family friendly for that matter. I recall boarding and the flight attendants could give a damn about anyone. Boarding was a wild ride ! Complete chaos. You could not hear them over the loud speaker at all. No one cared. No one helped. Every man/ woman for his/himself. It felt like purgatory. It felt like we would never board. Had a problem with TsaPre, provided the info to the representative but it was not on the boarding passes. 2.) called Frontier customer service and was on hold for 53 minutes and was disconnected, called and was again lost at 47 minutes. 3.) went to the ticket counter and the ticket agent confirmed the known traveler number was on my info but couldn't figure out how to make it appear on our tickets. 4.) lining up at Islip to you can see the plane at the gate. Last week my wife and I were trying to get to Myrtle Beach for a graduation and our flight got cancelled last minute leaving us no options. Frontier sent a measly $ 100 dollar apology credit. We decided to try to use the credits and booked another fight from ISP to MYR. No surprise that they cancelled this flight today the day of our travel, because of not enough passengers bought seats. So now I have $200 dollars of useless vouchers which we will not use. We rebooked on Delta the day of the flight and it was only $100 dollars more! There are multiple flights per day as well. I have to go to LAG but knowing that I am on a Safe, well run, on time, customer caring carrier is worth the price. If you have to be some where when you want to go and not when Frontier decides that the flight will be profitable and wants to send you, do not fly Frontier! I do not know how this airline can be so insensitive to peoples travel plans. If this is how they treat their customers I wonder if they put the same effort into the most important things when flying! I try to use them and they tell me my $1200 is gone and a credit can't be used because I should of scheduled to use the flights. I cancelled in March and they said it would need to be used by June. First, on the flight from ISP to FLA the baggage was lost for the first day or so, so I had absolutely nothing to work with besides a $50 credit. And then on the way home, there was a TEN hour delay and we had to make a landing in Philly because of "fog" which ended in sleeping in an airport chair for hours without any hotel accommodations. This airline is not "cheap" as they advertise to be. You pay the ticket fee and then you need to pay for each checked bag, your seat and then any carry on item. There are no complimentary snacks/beverages. I have never had to pay for seats and carry ons. I have never been on another flight where you have to buy your cup of soda. This airline is the biggest rip off around. Also, they must search the bottom of the barrel to find flight attendants on this one. One of them spoke so rudely to one of the passengers. She was moving people around because she said she had to balance the weight. I have been on small commuter planes that never did that. She was telling the customers to move faster, lets go. I will start by saying that YES, I have had pleasant experiences before and that is why I continue flying with Frontier, however, my last trip home from Fort Lauderdale was horribyl YES it was a busy flight and there were a lot of people at the gate, however, I asked the gate representative a couple of questions and she sort of barked her response at me (it was clearly visible that she was not in the best of moods even before I got to the desk). The boarding process was a complete mess. 2 other representatives had to come to the gate and help. I am convinced that a few people walked into the aircraft without being properly checked in ( at one point, one of the representatives had to go after one of the passengers to ask if he had been checked in). Coffussion, chaos and people complaining were the theme of the entire process. Once inside the plane, I asked one of the flight attendants if I could change my seat to an exit row seat after boarding was completed. I was told there would be an UPcharge, which I would have been willing to pay, but neither her or the other flight attendant she asked could tell me what the amount of the up charge would be (crazy!!) When boarding was complete, the plane was nearly full but there were 2 exit row seats still available and neither of the flight attendants approached me to ask if I still wanted to change seats or to even tell me how much it would cost. Once the door of the plane was closed we moved to the runway only to be told after being stationary for 35 minutes that there was going to be yet another 30 minute delay. During the flight, the flight attendant bumped into my knee and my elbow several times without as much as saying sorry. I fly Frontier regularly lately, and this has been the WORST experience I have had. I wont discontinue using the airline for my trips to Florida, but this definately put a sour taste in how I feel about the service and I will be honest and candid in relaying my experience to anyone who asks me how I like flying with Frontier. read more

I continue to Fly Frontier. You can't beat the value. The equipment is new but there's no WiFi, simple seats tiny food tray. It's a no frill airlines so it is what it is. The seats are actually more roomy than American Airlines. I'm just a tad concerned with the delays. Over 5 hour delay due to staff issues last month out of West Palm and today my son is finally boarding Islip after a 6 hour wait.
