We went in winter but I'm sure it's packed in summer. The Crab Cake Sandwich is a must. It's actually full of lump crab meat instead of just being a bunch of breading and filler. We also got the Loaded Cheese Fries and they were total comfort food. The portions are huge, Great service and we even forgot our cell phone and they kept it for us to pick up. Wonderful group of people.

Since there were no available tables outside, we were placed inside in a corner table with no air circulation. The humidity felt unbearable and really played a major impact on my experience. I'm sure if I came during a mid spring day I would've had a better experience. Food: the food is the only reason I would come here again. I got a crab cake that was very robust with a fair amount of filler but had a good amount of real crabmeat. My son got the quesadilla, and it wasn't anything special. The salmon was small and flavorful. Service: also was not anything special or bad. Our waitress came by twice during our stay. It was a busy afternoon and she was working. It would've been good if they had more staff so that someone could refill our water more frequently. Like I said, the humidity had taken away from our experience. Overall, I wouldn't come here throughout the hot, humid summer months, but I may give it a second try in the winter or spring... maybe.

Who puts starch on a starch? Anyway, the crab quesadilla is amazing. The chicken cheesesteak will rival the best in the area (Mazzella's is the best, and they don't starch their frozen fries)...the boneless wings aren't as good as The Hideaway, but they're damn good. They could step up their game by upping their Blue Cheese (Two Stones Pub is hands down the best)...and Happy Hour beers remind me of the 80's with their prices. So my official rating after 4 visits in the last 2 months is a VERY Good. To add, their entertainment is a good selection of various styles. I'd like to see a Tues or Weds acoustic Happy Hour.

My experience with the food and service was always good from the very first dinner. Their steamed clams and Prime rib were excellent and the service from my waitress "Suzzie" was perfect. Entertaining at the REEF is not limited to one genre..the place covers many types of music from Rock to Soul. Totally entertaining. If you want a good meal and a fun time with by the way no cover charge "The Reef" is the place to be seen at Carpenter Station in Wilmington.

The restaurant has a charming and casual vibe. Both gentlemen tending the floor are from Italy, adding an air of authenticity. You can choose to sit outdoors -- I really like the way the patio is arranged --or in the cozy dining room. Once seated, you're brought a plate of roasted peppers and a basket of hard rolls. I sprinkled olive oil and grated salt on the plate, which proved a good idea with the peppers and rolls. There were a number of appetizer specials, but we went with a basic Caesar salad. One order, pre-apportioned in the kitchen, was perfect for the two of us. I ordered branzino as an entree T, linguini Pescatore. The whole fish is brought out and fileted tableside. While I took a photo, it was just one unflattering shot of the head (which I'm not posting.) The branzino was mild and flakey, good, though the seasoning didn't break through the skin rendering it a little bland. Excellent grilled potatoes and vegetables completed my dinner. My husband's linguini was delish; while the pasta isn't made in house, it tasted like it could be, served al dente, of course. The tomato sauce was spicy enough to bring the dish over the top. Portobello is byob. (Another Yelper mentioned an $8 corkage fee, but unless they forgot to charge us, they disbanded the policy.) After our meal, with takeout box packed -- there was a lot of fish -- we were offered amaretto as a digestif. A nice touch! The restaurant isn't all that convenient to where we live but we enjoyed dinner enough to warrant a repeat visit. Next time I'll try something Italian. Or maybe salmon, which looked pretty good. Reservations suggested, particularly on weekends.
