I'm all about that bass, self proclaimed bass baddie here, and I must say....FROST your sound system has been upgraded! Just walking through the tunnel into the amphitheater was the vibe-iest bass trap a girl could dream of. This year there was a noticeable upgrade to the sound system and the Blackfest was filled with therapeutic vibes that could release dopamine in any depressed brain. Talk about a neural reset here, lovely! And who wouldn't love a setting filled with eucalyptus trees and the loveliest melanated crowd you can find in Silicon Valley. Hats off to the organizers of Blackfest for ALWAYS delivering such high quality performers. JID and SAMARA CYN at Stanford? My dreams really have come true. Outdoor music venue on Standford campus. Came with some friends since they recommended it. Its similar to the Greek at Berkeley but much more flat, the good thing is the venue is smaller so you can get a better view from anywhere inside. The worst part about this is if you want to go to the bathroom or meet someone at the entrance when it starts getting crowded you are awkwardly stepping over people and constantly saying "excuse me". The shows go on unless the weather is "extreme". So if you pre buy tickets and it rains be prepared to go in rain gear. When we went it rained the day before but the grass was luckily dry. The sound system and lighting are well designed were it felt like we could clearly hear the music. There are drinks and food available but once the show starts you will have to awkwardly walk over people to get food and drinks. I came after work on a Thursday and the piece of pizza I had for dinner was HUGE and satisfying. read more

Had a great time at this venue! There's few free parking garages across Stanford that's within 10-15 minute walking distance from the theater. Security was quick and easy without any hassle. They have multiple restrooms, open bar for food and drink, and a water refill station. The atmosphere is so great for outdoor concerts on a breezy summer night. My friends and I saw The Rose perform and it was great to see! The staff were easy to work in helping us find our seats. A memorable night! read more

First time at the Frost Amphitheater for a Shawn Mendes concert, and it was pretty decent! Getting parking wasn't a hassle at all; they have people on-site directing you where to park. Price for parking is a bit steep, but it's a concert, so I expected it to be. However, I will say that it took a WHILE to get out post-concert. There aren't any clear pathways to take getting out because there are different exits, so you'll be stuck in line for a bit unless someone lets you cut them. As you get closer to the exit gates, I saw that there was in-fact someone directing three-way traffic to get us all out. As for the amphitheater itself, going through security was hassle free. We bought a quick-pass to skip the lines, and it gave us direct access to get to security without a wait. We also got a couple of drinks and snacks when we got in. The first time I went to buy a cocktail at one of the bars, the man helping me seemed pretty over the night and like he didn't want to help me. My drink was literally filled to the brim with ice and tasted mostly like water, sugar, and a hint of alcohol. My friend got the same drink at a bar in a different area, and she received the best service from the woman serving her. We compared our drinks, and could clearly tell that my friend's drink was made better and definitely more stronger, lol. Merch line was a breeze-- it may look long, but trust me the employees get through it quick. They try to rush through everyone, so just make sure you look at what's on sale and have an idea of what you may want to buy before you get up there. This is my 2nd time going to a show here. The first time we took an uber and it was a mess. It's way better to go really early and park at the Galvanez parking for $30. It does fill up really fast so you can also buy parking ahead of time. We got there at 5pm for a 7pm show and were able to get parking. There are no seats for the show, people try to bring blankets to sit on but if it's like an EDM show that won't work since everyone is standing up. We just sat on our sweaters and then stood up. Great outdoor venue. First time having chairs here which was nice, but in late October while beautiful, it got quite chilly. Very strict food policy and very few concession choices.. Parking was $30 and did not need to purchase ahead of time (credit card only). Only critique of the venue is that if the artist is quiet, people tend to wander around and a lot of people were standing around socializing and kind was annoyed as We tried to listen to the music but people were talking to each other just 5 feet away. My first time going to Frost Amphitheater at Stanford for Lauren Daigle's concert. This theater seating is outdoor. Good thing I had a light sweater with me as it got cold around 8pm. Overall, great outdoor venue. You can only bring a transparent clear bag and sealed small plastic bottle or empty plastic water bottle for refill. No purse or bag packs. I sat in the upper middle bowl section, it wasn't too bad. I think I would aim to sit in the lower middle bowl section next time for better view of the stage. You see the sound technician in your view while seated in the upper middle bowl. Overall, I would come back to this venue. read more

Nice laid back atmosphere for those who find Stern Grove a bit too crowded. Lots of space on the GA lawn that I prefer over the chairs as it's easier to move around. Parking can be hit or miss if you don't want to pay $30 in the Galvez lot, but if you are open to walking 5-10 min, there were plenty of free spots at one of the nearby parking lots. Make sure to look over their bag policies (small clear bags only). They have concessions inside, but expect $$$ (e.g. a can of beer is $16-18). Nice acoustics for music performances and not a bad seat in the house. -1* primarily because of the cost of parking and concessions. read more

This was my first time ever attending an event at this amphitheater. When arriving the line was so long to get in but it moved pretty quick. Obviously parking can be a challenge since it's on a college campus but we did it the right way and took a Lyft. Once we got to the front of the line they check bags and have the metal detectors. They allow small ziploc bags of snacks to bring in and a water bottle that isn't open before entering so that was a good thing. They have refill stations for water around the venue as well. One thing I liked is that the bathrooms were right at the entrance, each stall has the occupied sign if being user so it makes it easier to find an open stall. I really liked this place because each section was higher and higher so since I'm short I was able to look over the people infront of me. Your surrounded by trees too which make the vibe just amazing. I definitely am happy I got to see my favorite band here. Can't thank my man enough for this surprise. read more

I've been to Frost pre and post renovation and I can definitely say the transformation is amazing. Frost used to not have all the wonderful restroom facilities nor the roof covering the stage. Essentially, it was just the stone stage and the grass seating area. This is no problem for college students as when Fetty Wap and Sage The Gemini graced the old stage back in 2016, we didn't care about the aesthetics - we were vibing with the music. Fast forward to the renovation - now we have performances from so many more artists, including the venerable SF Symphony. The seating is still the same grassy stepped lawn I remember, with the option to buy VIP tickets that have comfortable folding chairs. Note: not all concerts may have this option. The new roof boasts tons of speakers and stage lighting, making it a wonderful outdoor concert experience. Make sure to catch a picture with Hoover Tower in the background on your next concert experience there. My latest trip to Frost was to see the SF Symphony and it is a wonderful venue for an evening concert of classical music. The sound carries throughout the venue and the lawn seating was plentiful. Given that it's the Bay Area, make sure to bring a jacket for when the sun goes down and bug spray when listening in the summer evenings. With its beautiful new stage and clean restrooms, I will be back. read more

We went to the David Byrne concert last week. We came about an hour early and got caught in a big parking mess that caused us to miss the opening set of songs. Very little signage for parking. We'd paid in advance for parking and there was no one to even distinguish between who paid and who didn't. No one even checked. There was no one to direct traffic, so many cars were crowding in front of others. There were no lights in the dirt lot when we finally got there, so we had to stumble around in the dark amongst the eucalyptus trees to walk to the theatre and try to mark way points to find our way back afterwards. The seating was way too crowded and it was difficult to squeeze into our seats. It was a strange venue with poor visibility of the stage. Probably better suited to events with blankets on the grass. read more

Enjoyed seeing my favorite band THE ROSE at this venue. The weather was great so it felt similar to a festival but smaller and more immersive. I sat close to the front and was able to attend the VIP sound check, Q&A and then pictures with the band after the concert. Frost Amphitheater was a great place to see a concert. read more

Frost Amphitheater Review Caught Steve Lacy, Toro y Moi, and James Blake at Frost--and the night was straight fire. Toro set the stage for a dance party, James Blake kept it chill with those atmospheric vibes, and Steve Lacy came through like the grand finale to a Michelin-star meal. The venue was on point--well-run and super smooth. The food? $20 for a burger or sandwich--basically what you sign up for at any festival. But hey, it's worth it when you're vibing hard. Bathrooms were everywhere, so you weren't trekking across the venue just to make a pit stop. Easy to roam around and people-watch, too. The crowd energy was a mix of Greek Theatre meets Stern Grove--relaxed but ready to turn up. Definitely a venue I'll be keeping an eye on for future shows. Now, I might've left a little early to avoid the infamous Stanford traffic, but as I walked out hand-in-hand with my partner belting out "Bad Habit" by Steve Lacy--like we were on a reality show--we didn't care about traffic. I like this venue because of the elevated steps, it's really nice to have when you're short like me! I went to see Keshi and we were able to have a pretty good view from the side. We had a great time during the concert! My gripe is how it was extremely disorganized on our way into the amphitheater. There weren't any clear signs or indication which lines were VIP or GA. Once we we found out we were in the wrong line, the GA line was a condensed, compacted mess. I wouldn't even call it a line because several groups were pushing their way into the front. Once we got to the front near security checkpoint, there were finally staff members letting in groups of people at a time for bag check. Also, one of the bathrooms was really dark at night??? Amphitheaters are great venus. The setup at Frost is similar to The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. A bowl type shape for viewing/standing area. The key and positive difference at Frost, is that the steps for the grassy areas are not as steep as the ones at the lower levels/steps of The Greek. I've had the pleasure of attending music shows 2x at this venue in the last few weeks. Both times I had an amazing experience. 1st time was for BLXST (w/ UMI as one opener) in May. Then just recently, was my 2nd time at the venue for Fred again (6/6/24). What surprised me was that one the 2nd time, there were additional lighting setup across the perimeter of the venue that was an amazing compliment to Fred's show. It looks like it may be a permanent setup for future shows now? I'm a seasoned concert-goer so the necessasry protections were in my arsenal: earplugs, shades. YMMV, but I did not feel bothered by the sounds with my earplugs. Shades did protect me from any high intensity lighting effects (but these can be variable per performance). The venue itself for the 2 shows I were at did not some overcrowded or hard to navigate. One negative to me is the bathroom setup. Bathrooms are only towards the entrance area (one-side of the venue). So you'll have to travel if nature calls and you're on the opposite end of the venue. Also, there are only 2 bathroom facilities. I think a 3rd one would be beneficial. Maybe the 3rd one should be at the left side of the stage too! Parking situation varies but the one time my friend parked at a free spot outside of metered hours down the street from the venue in front of a University building. Walking is not too bad either. The sidwalks are substaintially spacious. However, because the surrounding nature is quite uniform, you'll end up getting lost easily during the night hours. But this is feedback for outside the venue. Can't be helped. I'd say the Frost is up there for my favorite venus out of the others I've been to across the USA. I'll defintely be back as I've had a good time for each of my experiences there so far! read more

Tucked away in the Stanford campus- this beautiful amphitheater is right next to Bing concert hall. They have lots of summer events which is particularly nice given that it usually doesn't get too cold here in the summer. Great acoustics and plenty of open lawn seating. Be sure to bring blanket as sometimes the grass can be a bit damp. We brought our own water and snacks as I heard food and drink options are limited and pricey. Parking was easy especially if you come for events on weekends or weekday evenings. There's a lot of on campus parking in the permit lots that are free weekends and weekday evenings especially if you go in the direction of the museum from the amphitheater. Btw- the museum is free! Went here for the HoloHolo Fest. Loved this venue! Good vibes all around. Parked at a garage not too far down. The only gripe I had was how it stated on the website to only bring clear purses/ bags, yet no one was turned away from having normal purses/ backpacks. Kinda annoying, especially when security barely checked anyone going through. Can never really be too sure these days either. Otherwise, I had a great time here. Hope to come back again! read more

I love the layout with the tiered lawn (this is important to me because I can finally see over people's heads) - everything is so spacious and I've never felt claustrophobic! The bathrooms have also been relatively clean compared to other venues I've been to. The only unfortunate thing is that free street parking is pretty far away - you would have to walk for 25ish minutes to reach the venue itself. read more

Came here this past weekend for the Rebelution concert and it was such a great time! This was my second time coming to Frost. The last time was for the SF Symphony which was less of a crowd and had plenty of space. Rebelution is super popular so it was crazy to see the placed packed. It was a vibe though, bc they bring those good vibes, music, and those amazing solo trumpet and saxophone solos. We stayed towards the middle/top where there's wide steps with grass, where you are able to lay a blanket down and enjoy the show. We got there a little after 6pm and finding a spot to lay a blanket down was tough but we made it work. If you are going to a popular concert with a big group, get there super early to claim your space. When the headliner came on, more people packed up to get closer, so eventually things did open up. Food wise, we brought our own bc the food options are limited and stadium priced. Tall cans run around $20 and tall white claws are $18. Pricey but expected. Parking wise we just parked near University Ave for a pregame and walked over. Overall, fun venue if there's an act you really want to see. Great for outdoor events, just wish the music was a bit louder and had more speakers setup around the venue read more

Had a lovely experience here at Dabin's Stay in Bloom festival. There is free parking offered that fills up quickly, otherwise you can prepay for parking or pay for it at the location ($30). Security is quick and there's multiple restrooms! Love that this amphitheater has a pit and offers a great experience right at Stanford's campus. The grass and trees offer shade protection for days that get too hot. They also have hydration stations, but the prices for alcohol are exorbitant as always. This feature is only exacerbated by the fact that it is in one of the most expensive areas to live in, I especially recommend pregaming. read more

The pros: Cool venue, great acoustics. Not overly loud. Plenty of people working the food/drink booths so lines a very short. The cons: Had VIP seats for 4. They advertised "table service" for food and drink. The VIP food and drink menu was very limited. As a matter of fact, you can't order single drinks. Only carafes for four people (for an ungodly amount of money). Then the regular food and drink booths. $20 for a 24 ounce Modelo? $15 for a 16 ounce Whiteclaw? You've got to be kidding! Then the food.....had a cheese plate ($15) and a mezze plate ($15 or $16). The cheese was pretty gross. The pita bread (both plates) was hard and stale. The hummus had zero taste. I spent over $200 for horrible food and overpriced drinks. Do what we saw other people doing....bring your own food. Maybe drink in the parking lot? Hahahahaha read more

I actually really like this venue! It's outdoors so you don't feel as compact and suffocated as an indoor venue. There's parking really close by too. The main thing that sets this venue apart for me is the setup. The best way I can describe it is like everyone is standing/ sitting on steps. As someone who is short and can rarely see at concerts, the tiered set up is amazing and I had such a great view! What a great and relatively intimate venue. We came here for the 1st Annual (I hope) Holo Holo Festival. It was 5 plus hours of great Pacific Island Reggae music. I was especially pleased to see Three Plus in person as I grew up listening to their music. Kolohe Kai is as good as it gets! The facilities were plentiful and easy to get to. Some tips I wanted to share for events specifically with the RESERVED WITH GA LAWN seating configuration. I want to make clear that not all events follow this seating configuration (the other two types are GA, which is first come first serve with NO assigned seating so picnic blankets encouraged and Fully Reserved, which is ALL assigned seating so no need to bring stadium chairs), so it's best to check your ticket event details. 1. For the Sigur Ros concert, the configuration was "Reserved with GA Lawn", where the Meadow, Lower Bowl and Middle Bowl sections of the venue had Reserved assigned seating. If you are in these sections, there is no need to bring a stadium chair or picnic blankets as there will be seats for you. I had Lower Bowl 3 (LB3), row JJ seats which was pretty good (see pics for reference). Seeing the stage gets difficult if the person sitting in front of you (and the person in front of them) are much taller than you. Also with row JJ specifically, this is the last row of the section so you will hear people walking and talking behind you as they scramble to find their seats. If you are sensitive to this type of noise, maybe try sitting closer up front. 2. If you are in the Upper Bowl or Lawn area, I suggest coming in early to snag a decent spot for you to lay your picnic blanket since it is first-come, first-serve but the venue does slope so views aren't completely obstructed wherever you decide to sit. 3. Bring clear bags only and pack some food! I used mine for a banh mi and pre-packaged spring rolls for a quick bite before the event started. Got through security just fine. Just make sure if you bring a reusable water bottle that it's empty before going through security. They do allow 1 water bottle per person as long as it's less than 20oz and factory sealed. 4. Security was not bad at all for this event. We arrived at the check-in 30 mins before the scheduled 7:30 start and got through security within 5-10 minutes. 5. Restrooms are found on the right upon entry and fairly clean. For the women's stalls, I liked that each door had a visible vacant/occupied sign so you didn't need to bend over and check if there's feet in each stall. 6. Food and drinks stand is also on the right upon entry (before the restrooms). Didn't get a good look at the options since I brought my own goods but they do sell beer, ranging from $12-$16 when I glanced. A lot of folks seemed to opt for the canned drinks. 7. I knew there was a chance that I'd show up to the venue late so I opted for advanced prepaid parking for a steep $30 (purchased through the Axs app a day before the event), hence one less star. I'm sure there is free street parking somewhere as groups of people walked to the main road / shopping center but you'd have to do a lengthy walk. The Galvez lot was fairly easy to get in/out of and a short walk from the venue. The venue itself is a pretty small and intimate outdoor experience. Sound was great and I feel most people can get a good view of the stage wherever you are sitting. The event organizers did a pretty good job of getting folks in and out. I'd be down to return, but maybe opt for public transportation next time to save some $$ read more

I never knew this place existed! In the middle of the Stanford campus is an awesome intimate venue for live music. It's not as large as shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, but similar with the lawn area and reserved seats. On a beautiful summer evening, we caught Lionel Richie's "Hello Tour!" Place was packed with a diverse crowd (and I felt like the youngest there until I saw a few teenagers with their parents in front of me). Acoustics were nice, as it wasn't too loud where I couldn't hear the person next to me, and didn't have to scream in their ears; but not too low either. Heard that this place was recently renovated, and can tell by the bathrooms. Nice and clean! Drink concession stands offer wine, beer, and a few cocktails at the average price between $9-14 (Bay Area standard). I didn't partake in any food concessions so can't vouch for that, as most people around me brought their own foods. Note that you can't bring a backpack or large bag to this venue. They're all about the clear plastic bags here, so check their website for more details on specific events. Also, there's parking available in a few nearby lots between $30-40 so check website as well for parking details. We opted to park off campus towards El Camino to avoid traffic congestion and paying for parking. It was a perfect summer evening anyway so a nice stroll post concert was lovely! We were supposed to go to a Mac Demarco concert today but the heavy rain was forecasted and glad we didn't go because it's pouring really hard as I write this review. Mac probably would have started right about now. The venue was very good at communicating to the ticket holders throughout the day and even though we decided not to go, an email went out shortly before the concert letting us know that sure to the current weather conditions our tickets could be used for a future concert just as so as long as we haven't redeemed them yet. Looking forward to the next concert hopefully in better weather conditions. read more
