Over the years, I've come here to watch the Cardinal women's volleyball matches. I think this stadium is fantastic! Pretty much all of the seats here give you a good view of the court and the players. If you happen to get that last seat in one of the four corners, at least you can watch the huge TV display screens. They sell food/snacks here, too. As well as Stanford apparel/schwag. A Stanford band plays during breaks to get the crowd going and energized.

Came here recently to watch the USC men's basketball game. The gym definitely needs some upgrades, it's an older building and feels like it lacks proper air flow. The entire building felt very stuffy and hot, which made it very uncomfortable to sit through an entire game. They offer a few concession stands selling things like hotdogs, nachos, fries, hot chocolate, beer and more. Nothing fancy or tasty, typical college campus snacks for a game. Prices were on the higher side, which caught me off guard for a college game. They have a parking structure that is a nice and easy 8 min walk to the gym. Pro-tip: unless it's an amazing game, I advise to leave the game early so you don't get stuck in the garage queue leaving...it took us 30 mins to exit.

Came to see the USA Women's Basketball Team take on the Stanford women. If you're not a student or Stanford alum, getting good tickets is going to be hard. What isn't hard - the parking! At least at the event I attended, there was plenty of close parking. Free too! Again, might not always be the case. The ticketless system where they will ONLY let you use Apple Wallet - that was a complete fail. I have never used Apple Wallet before and it didn't seem like most people had. Trying to scan the ticket from your cell into these kiosk devices... I didn't see anyone do it successfully. The ladies working the door were just waving people through as no one could figure out how to scan the ticket into the tablet. They need to use an easier system (Axs tickets app seems to work much better). Seats are relatively comfortable. There are plenty of concession choices (no beer though!) and lots of vendors going through the stands with sno cones, waters, snacks... you name it. There aren't a lot of ushers and they seem to disappear right after the start of the game. So this translates to people coming in late and trying to find their seats during the game, interrupting your view and just in general making for a chaotic environment. I realize this isn't a professional arena where they will make you wait for a break in play before letting people enter the stands... but it's just common courtesy. I guess I thought the brainiacs at Stanford would know that? They don't. Not a terrible small venue to see a game. Some minor irritations, which would, of course, be made more bearable with a beer or two...

Great venue and well organized my only complaint is the prices are insane! $17 for a Diet Coke and a hot dog

came to see volleyball and basketball games here. a bit small compared to some of the other colleges in the division but its loud and full of cheering fans. big screen in the middle to keep you entertained and informed of the score and stats. tickets are decent priced and good view from everywhere. seats are a bit cramped though. the food is decent, typical hot dog nachos pizza at typical prices. dollar water when you use apple pay. plenty of bathrooms and ushers to help you find your way. parking lot is kind of small so come early to find a spot otherwise you might have to find another parking lot farther away. it is free though so thats nice. although the campus is super nice to have a scenic walk.

Wholesome sports and fun for the whole family, especially for young athletes. We came by to see the girls volleyball team and she were AWESOME! Great role models to watch to help your little ones set their eyes on the goal of becoming great athletes. Highly recommended.

Great place to see a game! Seats not the best and a little close for comfort, but really no different than any other college venue. All in all loved having the opportunity to see the KU Jayhawks play close to home.

My best memories of college are in this arena, but its gotten even better. They recent renovation has eliminated the burnt popcorn smell, lowered the roof to make the small arena even more claustrophobic for opposing players, and added some class to the venerable home of the Cardinal. What better way to spend a Thursday or Saturday evening than watching the Stanford men's basketball team defend home court. The best basketball in the Bay Area takes place in Maples. The only thing I don't like about the arena is that I don't have season tickets and that some of the fans are really fair-weather. Oh yeah, and the women's basketball team plays here and they're pretty damn good too.

Ask the Community - Maples Pavilion

My tickets for women's volleyball say "General Admission" w/no seat assignment. Is it open seating? How early should I get there for good selection? And I saw somewhere that…

Open seating is in the upper half of Maples. Reserved seating is below the walkway.

Does anyone know where the Stanford team sits at the women's volleyball matches? Is it next to Section 2 or Section 4? I can't tell from the seating charts.

I saw somewhere that it's Section 4. Visiting team's bench is by Section 2

The shows go on unless the weather is "extreme". So if you pre buy tickets and it rains be prepared to go in rain gear. When we went it rained the day before but the grass was luckily dry. I also planned to go to day 3 with a group of friends. On D2, I was able to carpool at a garage with a friend approximately a 20 minute walk from the stadium. I don't recommend parking here at all. Getting out of it was a nuisance since we had to wait almost an hour before we were able to leave the garage due to traffic. I highly recommend taking CalTrain to/from the stadium which is what I did with my group of friends on D3. It was very convienent and we were able to hop on a train within 15 minutes when we got to the station after the concert. The security and staff were very friendly and were happy to help us when we had questions. It was a bit disorganized and I wasn't sure where to go on D2. I wasn't aware nor notified I had to get a wristband for floor until a nice fellow Army let me know. Luckily a staff member pointed me to the right location to pick them up. D2 was quite disorganized in the 100's section. It was extremely crowded once I was trying to navigate and find my way how to get to floor. Once I got my bearings and got to my seat, I was so excited! My section was worth the last minute price ($670 via official TM) because I was directly in front of the main stage. I got to see the boys up front and close and vibe with Army and them! Exiting from floor was a pain, because there was only one exit from my section and I had a meet up location planned to meet up with my friend who was sitting in the 100's section. Getting out was a little confusing because there were barricades everywhere. Signal is also HORRID here and I was lucky enough to call my friend to tell her to meet up with me at a specific gate. D3 went a lot more smoother and I noticed there was less crowds in the 100's section. Maybe because it was a Tuesday? Bathrooms were easier to get to that day also. We were seated in section 126 and still had a great view especially of the side stage. Outside the stadium can get extremely dusty, and I highly recommend wearing a face mask to prevent breathing in the dirt. Overall I had a wonderful experience especially for going solo on floor! It was worth the time and money coming to the venue.

This is one of the world's most outstanding private assemblies of postwar American art, gifted by Bay Area collectors Harry W. "Hunk" and Mary Margaret "Moo" Anderson and their daughter Mary Patricia Anderson Pence, who looks more like Moo but acts like Hunk. The museum, which opened in 2014, houses 121 paintings and sculptures and is known for its focus on movements like Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, and Pop Art. The collection is celebrated for featuring canonical works by some of the 20th century's most significant American artists. Key figures and their works include: Jackson Pollock: The monumental drip painting "Lucifer," considered by many to be the outstanding drip painting still in private hands before it was gifted to Stanford. Mark Rothko: The signature color-field work, "Pink and White over Red." Clyfford Still: A large, imposing piece called "1957-J No. 1 (PH-142)." Richard Diebenkorn: Works like "Ocean Park #60," which displays his progression into abstract forms using geometric shapes and a subdued color palette. Other Masters: The collection also includes works by Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Philip Guston, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthaler. The museum building itself is spacious, which means it feels mostly like space. The coolest thing was the meticulous library that felt too nice to even touch. Be sure to see the Cantor Arts Museum next door. Random Notes: One exhibit had a music video by Nick Cave on repeat, which was annoying and a little out of place, echoing throughout the museum. Oddly, it was not the Nick Cave you are thinking off (i.e. Bad Seeds). It was a different Nick Cave. Which is weird. It's like saying "Oh, yeah, no, that painting of the flower over there is actually Georgia O'Queef." 1. One of the collection's anchor pieces, a major painting by Clyfford Still, was acquired a jockey who had won the famous 1950s television quiz show, "The $64,000 Question," and then retired to open an art gallery in San Francisco. 2. Mark Tansey's painting "Yosemite Falls (Homage to Watkins)" (1993), depicts the famous waterfall, but instead of falling water, the cascade is made up of cameras and tripods. I looked into an art textbook to try to interpret it and apparently it means I am gay.
