Not the best choice for a concert for artists with an immense fandom. 1. Exit signs are barely noticeable. 2. Other exits were blocked, only one open tunnel for 65K+ attendees to go through - major safety hazard‼ 3. Phone service was not available within 1+ mile radius. 4. Need more signs/instructions especially for out of town/international visitors.

Came here for the BTS concert Day 1 and I am happy that I took Caltrain instead of driving/parking here cause it looked horrendous. From Caltrain to Stanford Stadium is about a 15 minute walk. The Stanford Stadium is nice but, I don't think they can accommodate 50,000 people...why build a stadium this big when you can't accommodate this many people? We entered through Gate 5 for security and man that was a LONG line and it didn't feel organized until we were in the taped area. There were long lines for restrooms and food as expected - luckily the BTS fans were super respectful and did not cut. But, the congestion felt like it could be a safety hazard...especially going in and out of the tunnel on the lower level. I was afraid of a crowd crush! For the food, I think my friends and I were the "last" people to get the chicken tenders and fries cause the back kitchen was running low on it...like what!! I hoped they stocked up for DAY 2 & DAY 3. We were able to bring in empty water bottles but I could not find the refill station, so ended up buying a water bottle instead. Other than the negatives, the seats were amazing and felt so close. The staff didn't even check closely to the ticket seats...but thankfully, BTS fans are honest with their seat locations!!

This review is specifically for going to a concert at Stanford Stadium. We were here to watch BTS in concert on a Tuesday night. I think the last time I was here was for the Big Game but that was like over a decade ago. L O C A T I O N Stanford Stadium is at the corner of Galvez St. and El Camino Real. P A R K I N G For this concert, there was paid parking through the Stanford Stadium website. There was $120 - VIP (actually paved parking), $90 - IM South Lot (Grass lawn), and $80 - General (Dirt lots). Though apparently there was parking at Palo Alto High School for $60, but I didn't know about this until after I already paid. Some folks parked in the neighborhoods as well as Palo Alto Caltrain station ($6.50). I just didn't know how easy it would be to find parking in the neighborhoods and I really didn't want to get towed. So I opted for the IM South (General Lot 4) and luckily we came around 3:30pm and got prime area to park which was right in front of the opening where we'd exit (Churchill Ave) . So leaving the parking area was so fast but they did block access to Churchill Ave when leaving and forced to drive on El Camino Real. I would either turn left on Park Ave after that and get to Alma then Oregon Expy if you're needing to get to 101. We ended up driving down to Charleston which worked out. V E N U E There are a bunch of maps to show you where you can enter for your section also shows where the restrooms and amenities are. Near our section 236, we had the water bottle filling station and two women's restrooms which was very convenient. A section down was a Chik-fil-A. From the gates to the stadium, there are two sets of long stairwells. I'm sure there are ramps somewhere but be aware it might take time to get up via ramps or going up stairs. Walking around the outside of the stadium had a lot of dusty paths so make sure you're ready to get dust on your clothes, shoes and in your lungs if there's a bunch of wind or people walking around you. Inside it's your standard football stadium but it's a college stadium so it's no Levi's which means if you're in the worst seats far in the back, it's still a good seat. If you get nosebleeds at Levi's, good luck if you can see anything and hope that the artist has large screens. So when thinking about purchasing tickets for BTS and that they had a center 360 stage, it was kind of a no brainer to not get tickets. All the seats had seat backs and bottoms which is wonderful. They're both hard but it's better than bleacher seating. Now what's not great? Acoustics. The sound isn't great. It's outdoors y'all and there's only so many speakers and yes the stadium is smaller than your Levi's or Allegiant so there's not much to bounce the sound off of. Also depending on the time of day, you may need lots of sunblock, a hat, and sunglasses and maybe a piece of paper to block the sun. It was pretty scorching the day we went. Cellphone reception seemed to be fine during the day and then as soon as we left the event around 9:30pm and headed toward the lot by means of Gate 12 and El Camino Real, there was absolutely no cellphone reception for AT&T at least. So make sure you preload maps or stick a pin where you need to be so you're able to find friends you're carpooling with. This is also why I didn't know about turning left on Park Ave. to save time to drive cause I had no reception until we reached that street. S E C U R I T Y Security was standard concert fare but you could only bring in a certain dimension of not clear bag or 12x12x6 for clear bags. You have to walk through a metal detector and there are folks also who have wands to scan your body. T I C K E T S I had tickets preloaded onto my iPhone wallet as I read folks did have cellphone reception issues so that worked out for us at least with Ticketmaster. It was a pretty smooth check in process with no lines. O V E R A L L For this kind of concert, it was a pretty good venue in terms of view. No seat was bad except maybe if you have some obstruction due to the set/setup.

First time to Stanford Stadium and it was a pleasant experience. The stadium is well kept for an older venue and on par with other west coast college football venues. The flow of security was efficient (moved much faster than the Rose Bowl) and walking flow outside the stadium is much better than Levi Stadium. You can walk down (south) El Camino Real or Alma Street and get away from the stadium crowds. For a sold out concert, there were plenty of concession stands and offered a good variety of American and Korean food. The restrooms are also spacious, but plan to wait in line for sold out performances. The audio system and visual effects for the BTS concert was outstanding. Good quality on the large video screens and clear views of stage. This place has a great college atmosphere and I highly recommend visiting if in Bay Area.

What a fantastic place to see a concert. Saw BTS last night. They put on a great show. Those army fans can make you go deaf with their screaming.

Stanford stadium was pretty organized for the most part. I mean, it's clean, it's big, nice staff too. Area was safe and quiet once the event was over. But the dust just sucked so bad. We waited near Gate 10, and it was just terrible with the dust flying everywhere. They handed out water bottles to us while we waited to get inside. I would say we had a positive experience here, the dust was just crazy.

What a privilege to be at Avery Stadium at Stanford University. My son's team and about 15 others were invited to compete at Stanford's state-of-the-art stadium where all the staff were accommodating and the competition was run at an Olympic level. Photographers, a lane announcer who added excitement to each heat detailing who was out ahead, who had pushed off the wall and furiously come from behind whipping up the crowd who'd stand in anticipation of who'd touch the wall first- you don't get that at just any race! To be surrounded by plaques of world record breakers, NCAA champs was awing. Turnkey from leafy parking lot then a quick walk into the stadium where you were greeted by staff and lanyard hung around your neck if helping with timing as I was. Great time on a freezing day for this "Candy Cane Classic" meet!

We went to a Coldplay concert here in May and absolutely loved it. We arrived early for parking, which gave us plenty of time to wait, enjoy some tasty nachos, and avoid long restroom lines. Everything was clean, and the staff members were all friendly. Our seats were in the shade, and we had a nice view of the sign and trees lining the stadium.

Some friends and I went to the Stanford Cardinals vs Boston College Eagles game yesterday. It was a cool night with fan appreciation day. The Cardinals started off strong scoring on their first two possessions. But then fell behind the Eagles 6-20. Then Stanford's defense shored up and recovered a fumble, had a pick six, and stopped the Eagles at the goal line and recovered a fumble stopping them from scoring. The defense held.them scoreless in the 3rd and 4th quarters, while the Cardinals offense tacked on another 10 points making the final Stanford 30 Boston College 20. What a good comeback from the Cardinals to chalk up their 1st win this season.

Would this have been better in the dark, maybe.

It's the age old story, log on to Ticketmaster to buy BTS tickets the second they go on sale, which is somehow too late. Good news. SeatGeek and Stubhub have lots of tickets, those helpful little Johnny-on-the-Spots. You call SeatGeek the day before the show because your ticket won't transfer to your Google Wallet. The person on the phone, let's call her Lorelei, assures you that the link will absolutely work at the gate. Narrator voice: it did not work at the gate. Not for me, or the hundred odd folks standing in line at the ticket office in the blazing sun, some of whom had dumped their water bottles at security because they also believed Lorelei and thought they could actually get in with the ticket they bought. After an hour of waiting in line, a box office employee came out and very quietly informed us that we were standing in the wrong line. Thank God she whispered this to us this before we wasted yet another hour. Once we got the the "correct" line another employee arrived to mock us for not knowing how tickets work. He might have been trying out a comedy routine on us, which I can normally get behind, but read the hot, sweaty, and anxiety riddled room, my dude. After waiting in the new line for 15 minutes or so, someone came over to inform us that if we bought our tickets from a 2nd party and not Ticketmaster, they could not help us. Which makes total sense, only the folks who were quick enough to get those tickets before they sold out in one second should be treated as valid ticket holders and human beings. Luckily, I'd been passing the time talking to a representative from SeatGeek. Let's call him Luke. Luke told me I should have transferred the tickets to my Ticketmaster account. I asked, "Did you talk to Lorelei?" He did not, but it's okay because signing in to my account and transferring tickets is easy as pie as long as you have a halfway decent wifi signal. Narrator voice: the wifi signal was so weak... (How weak was it?) It was so weak, I needed to stand directly next to the signal pole, and it still took 23 minutes to download the tickets. Thankfully, I'd arrived ridiculously early, and was able to get to our seats just in time to sit and relax for forty minutes while reapplying sunscreen and googling what time the sun goes down. No matter, soon BTS came out and we were treated to a spectacle of pyro, fireworks, and audience light shows in broad daylight. Which looked great after the sun finally went down after forty minutes. BTS put on an amazing show, and when it was over, we followed the crowd out to a part of the stadium that looked unfamiliar. No worries. I had taken a picture of the sign near my car that said "Cardinal 9I" and showed it to as many employees as I could. Most of them told me they'd never heard of a Cardinal lot even after I described it perfectly. Dusty, full of trees, no lighting or foot paths, lots of holes and other tripping hazards. An absolute bargain and just under 100 bucks. Nope. Not ringing any bells. But luckily a few heroes gave me directions when they didn't even know the way. They sent me to yet another parking lot that was about a mile out of my way. No worries. It was there I finally found someone who told me, after I showed him the picture of the sign that said Cardinal 9I, that I shouldn't ask for Cardinal lot, but lot 9. And he was right, because after walking about a mile in the other direction, I asked a group of employees where lot 9 was, and none of them knew. Thankfully, someone riding by on a golf cart overhead us and said "Lot 9? Go this way, turn that way, look for a roundabout and go left." We walked 12 steps in the first direction she told us and saw a sign for Lots 8-12. They were all right there. Dusty. Unlit. Full of holes and cars and zero walking paths, but there they were. Stanford, I want to commend you for not placing ugly, helpful "parking lot this way" signs along the pedestrian ways and only place them at the lots themselves so as not to take away from the tree-lined dustbowl aesthetic you've got going on. Also, a word of advice, if I may. Next time you get the chance to fly close to the sun on your beautiful wax wings and book the biggest musical act in the world, be humble. Realize you should stick to sporting events, and let Levi handle it. He's only got one parking lot. PS: Tragically, not one word of this review is exaggerated. Despite the tone, it's all true.

My husband and I have attended many football games here and this past Saturday we tried a bunch of new food items! We got the West Coast burger, garlic fries, footlong hot dog, and popcorn (not new but my favorite snack). The burger, fries, and hot dog were great! A little overpriced but tasted very good. I especially liked the char on the burger. The popcorn however was lackluster and bland. I was surprised as I've had it before and it was always very good. Hopefully it was just a dud batch. Last time we attended a game I got a gelati from Rita's which was delicious but too cold for a night game.

Love this place every time I come and watch a game , they have clear signs for parking and where to park. It is also better that you prepay for parking before hand so you know what lot to go. The food options here are pretty amazing, they have anything from Asian food to hot dogs and hamburgers. They also have a pretty good BBQ selection also. The stadium is very well taken care of and clean. The staff is courteous and very helpful. In all they do very well with running this stadium Ever get a chance to have a game here come on out, the night games are a blast

View from the twenty yard line, third row, section 135, behind the visitors bench (Sacramento State) Saturday (09/16/23).

This is a pleasant venue to take in a football game. We attended two games this season, against Pitt and Notre Dame. Parking is not too problematic. Sight lines for the seating are pretty good. They seem to be making a bit better of an effort on the concessions this year with a little improvement. And you can see the product on the field is getting better, slowly. It's a shame the Stanford alumni do not turn out and support this program. It's a great time out and family friendly atmosphere.

    8/30/24 Go Stanford Cardinal!

Long lines to enter the arena for big games, mediocre concessions (which still require ordering on outdated keypads or self-scanning) and perhaps a worse food selection than the pathetic 7/11 on Lytton street. Acoustically, it's very loud, which only increases the home-court advantage. The design is pretty wild. When you enter the outer doors from outside, you think you're stepping inside, but you're not. There are large exterior holes cut into the walls, with slanted roofs leading down *into* the building. There are huge gutters under those slanted roofs, so you wouldn't get wet if it were raining, but you're not technically "inside" until you enter the seating bowl itself, which has these special airtight doors for that very reason. (Normally, the vomitoria [tunnels] that lead into arenas and stadia are open on both ends, but in this case, they need doors on the outside to make the inside of the seating bowl itself truly inside.) This should be a four-star review, but absurdly rich Stanford had to be cheap and not install individual seats throughout the arena. Even arenas with sections of bleachers usually have individual seats on the sides of the court, but we were sitting almost at mid-court, and we had to deal with awful benches. I would have preferred flat bleachers, but Stanford installed those awful separated plastic seats familiar from its football stadium. (They're literally the exact same models as at Stanford Stadium.) They're an awful hybrid of bleachers and seats. Call them the worst of both worlds--enough seating room for only the smallest of butts, but instead of a flat bleacher that allows you to sit wherever you want, these have small metal or plastic separators, which means your tush hurts after the game unless you're small enough to fit right in the middle of the tiny seat. It's also needlessly far from its designated parking structure--the structure isn't actually that far from the arena, but there's no crosswalk in a logical place; you have to walk way past Maples before you're allowed to cross the street. And the traffic directors on game days are a joke. They just wave you along without regard for which of many different events you're attending. If I had done what they had told me, we would have parked almost a mile from Maples, and one of my guests had mobility issues.

If you're there on a weekend look out for the free pubic in-person tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30pm and 2:30pm. We took one and it was better than wandering around the exhibits ourselves. Worth a stop if you're visiting the Stanford campus.

This is one of the world's most outstanding private assemblies of postwar American art, gifted by Bay Area collectors Harry W. "Hunk" and Mary Margaret "Moo" Anderson and their daughter Mary Patricia Anderson Pence, who looks more like Moo but acts like Hunk. The museum, which opened in 2014, houses 121 paintings and sculptures and is known for its focus on movements like Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, and Pop Art. The collection is celebrated for featuring canonical works by some of the 20th century's most significant American artists. Key figures and their works include: Jackson Pollock: The monumental drip painting "Lucifer," considered by many to be the outstanding drip painting still in private hands before it was gifted to Stanford. Mark Rothko: The signature color-field work, "Pink and White over Red." Clyfford Still: A large, imposing piece called "1957-J No. 1 (PH-142)." Richard Diebenkorn: Works like "Ocean Park #60," which displays his progression into abstract forms using geometric shapes and a subdued color palette. Other Masters: The collection also includes works by Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Philip Guston, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthaler. The museum building itself is spacious, which means it feels mostly like space. The coolest thing was the meticulous library that felt too nice to even touch. Be sure to see the Cantor Arts Museum next door. Random Notes: One exhibit had a music video by Nick Cave on repeat, which was annoying and a little out of place, echoing throughout the museum. Oddly, it was not the Nick Cave you are thinking off (i.e. Bad Seeds). It was a different Nick Cave. Which is weird. It's like saying "Oh, yeah, no, that painting of the flower over there is actually Georgia O'Queef." 1. One of the collection's anchor pieces, a major painting by Clyfford Still, was acquired a jockey who had won the famous 1950s television quiz show, "The $64,000 Question," and then retired to open an art gallery in San Francisco. 2. Mark Tansey's painting "Yosemite Falls (Homage to Watkins)" (1993), depicts the famous waterfall, but instead of falling water, the cascade is made up of cameras and tripods. I looked into an art textbook to try to interpret it and apparently it means I am gay.
