First time at the Frost Amphitheater for a Shawn Mendes concert, and it was pretty decent! Getting parking wasn't a hassle at all; they have people on-site directing you where to park. Price for parking is a bit steep, but it's a concert, so I expected it to be. However, I will say that it took a WHILE to get out post-concert. There aren't any clear pathways to take getting out because there are different exits, so you'll be stuck in line for a bit unless someone lets you cut them. As you get closer to the exit gates, I saw that there was in-fact someone directing three-way traffic to get us all out. As for the amphitheater itself, going through security was hassle free. We bought a quick-pass to skip the lines, and it gave us direct access to get to security without a wait. We also got a couple of drinks and snacks when we got in. The first time I went to buy a cocktail at one of the bars, the man helping me seemed pretty over the night and like he didn't want to help me. My drink was literally filled to the brim with ice and tasted mostly like water, sugar, and a hint of alcohol. My friend got the same drink at a bar in a different area, and she received the best service from the woman serving her. We compared our drinks, and could clearly tell that my friend's drink was made better and definitely more stronger, lol. Merch line was a breeze-- it may look long, but trust me the employees get through it quick. They try to rush through everyone, so just make sure you look at what's on sale and have an idea of what you may want to buy before you get up there. All standing in the lawn, no chairs unless you have accessible seating or you bring your own blanket to sit on (which a lot of people did!)

This is my 2nd time going to a show here. The first time we took an uber and it was a mess. It's way better to go really early and park at the Galvanez parking for $30. It does fill up really fast so you can also buy parking ahead of time. We got there at 5pm for a 7pm show and were able to get parking. There are no seats for the show, people try to bring blankets to sit on but if it's like an EDM show that won't work since everyone is standing up. We just sat on our sweaters and then stood up. Make sure to bring clear backpacks.

Great outdoor venue. First time having chairs here which was nice, but in late October while beautiful, it got quite chilly. Very strict food policy and very few concession choices.. Parking was $30 and did not need to purchase ahead of time (credit card only). Only critique of the venue is that if the artist is quiet, people tend to wander around and a lot of people were standing around socializing and kind was annoyed as We tried to listen to the music but people were talking to each other just 5 feet away. Came here to see Van Morrison.

My first time going to Frost Amphitheater at Stanford for Lauren Daigle's concert. This theater seating is outdoor. Good thing I had a light sweater with me as it got cold around 8pm. Overall, great outdoor venue. You can only bring a transparent clear bag and sealed small plastic bottle or empty plastic water bottle for refill. No purse or bag packs. I sat in the upper middle bowl section, it wasn't too bad. I think I would aim to sit in the lower middle bowl section next time for better view of the stage. You see the sound technician in your view while seated in the upper middle bowl. Overall, I would come back to this venue.

Nice laid back atmosphere for those who find Stern Grove a bit too crowded. Lots of space on the GA lawn that I prefer over the chairs as it's easier to move around. Parking can be hit or miss if you don't want to pay $30 in the Galvez lot, but if you are open to walking 5-10 min, there were plenty of free spots at one of the nearby parking lots. Make sure to look over their bag policies (small clear bags only). They have concessions inside, but expect $$$ (e.g. a can of beer is $16-18). Nice acoustics for music performances and not a bad seat in the house. -1* primarily because of the cost of parking and concessions.

This was my first time ever attending an event at this amphitheater. When arriving the line was so long to get in but it moved pretty quick. Obviously parking can be a challenge since it's on a college campus but we did it the right way and took a Lyft. Once we got to the front of the line they check bags and have the metal detectors. They allow small ziploc bags of snacks to bring in and a water bottle that isn't open before entering so that was a good thing. They have refill stations for water around the venue as well. One thing I liked is that the bathrooms were right at the entrance, each stall has the occupied sign if being user so it makes it easier to find an open stall. I really liked this place because each section was higher and higher so since I'm short I was able to look over the people infront of me. Your surrounded by trees too which make the vibe just amazing. I definitely am happy I got to see my favorite band here. Can't thank my man enough for this surprise.

No clear line getting into the venue

I like this venue because of the elevated steps, it's really nice to have when you're short like me! I went to see Keshi and we were able to have a pretty good view from the side. We had a great time during the concert! My gripe is how it was extremely disorganized on our way into the amphitheater. There weren't any clear signs or indication which lines were VIP or GA. Once we we found out we were in the wrong line, the GA line was a condensed, compacted mess. I wouldn't even call it a line because several groups were pushing their way into the front. Once we got to the front near security checkpoint, there were finally staff members letting in groups of people at a time for bag check. Also, one of the bathrooms was really dark at night??? Why no lights?

Amphitheaters are great venus. The setup at Frost is similar to The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. A bowl type shape for viewing/standing area. The key and positive difference at Frost, is that the steps for the grassy areas are not as steep as the ones at the lower levels/steps of The Greek. I've had the pleasure of attending music shows 2x at this venue in the last few weeks. Both times I had an amazing experience. 1st time was for BLXST (w/ UMI as one opener) in May. Then just recently, was my 2nd time at the venue for Fred again (6/6/24). What surprised me was that one the 2nd time, there were additional lighting setup across the perimeter of the venue that was an amazing compliment to Fred's show. It looks like it may be a permanent setup for future shows now? I'm a seasoned concert-goer so the necessasry protections were in my arsenal: earplugs, shades. YMMV, but I did not feel bothered by the sounds with my earplugs. Shades did protect me from any high intensity lighting effects (but these can be variable per performance). The venue itself for the 2 shows I were at did not some overcrowded or hard to navigate. One negative to me is the bathroom setup. Bathrooms are only towards the entrance area (one-side of the venue). So you'll have to travel if nature calls and you're on the opposite end of the venue. Also, there are only 2 bathroom facilities. I think a 3rd one would be beneficial. Maybe the 3rd one should be at the left side of the stage too! Parking situation varies but the one time my friend parked at a free spot outside of metered hours down the street from the venue in front of a University building. Walking is not too bad either. The sidwalks are substaintially spacious. However, because the surrounding nature is quite uniform, you'll end up getting lost easily during the night hours. But this is feedback for outside the venue. Can't be helped. I'd say the Frost is up there for my favorite venus out of the others I've been to across the USA. I'll defintely be back as I've had a good time for each of my experiences there so far!

Tucked away in the Stanford campus- this beautiful amphitheater is right next to Bing concert hall. They have lots of summer events which is particularly nice given that it usually doesn't get too cold here in the summer. Great acoustics and plenty of open lawn seating. Be sure to bring blanket as sometimes the grass can be a bit damp. We brought our own water and snacks as I heard food and drink options are limited and pricey. Parking was easy especially if you come for events on weekends or weekday evenings. There's a lot of on campus parking in the permit lots that are free weekends and weekday evenings especially if you go in the direction of the museum from the amphitheater. Btw- the museum is free! So check that out!

Went here for the HoloHolo Fest. Loved this venue! Good vibes all around. Parked at a garage not too far down. The only gripe I had was how it stated on the website to only bring clear purses/ bags, yet no one was turned away from having normal purses/ backpacks. Kinda annoying, especially when security barely checked anyone going through. Can never really be too sure these days either. Otherwise, I had a great time here. Hope to come back again!

A great opportunity to mention how amazing the venue is, located outside, perfect on a Summer evening. Whoever thought wrapping a Bavarian pretzel in foil and selling it (see picture) was a good idea, should be banished. Buh bye. The cocktails weren't cheap, but I'd recommend.

Insane beer prices. A $3 Modelo is $20 + tax, license and dock fees.

Food ? How is it? aside from expensive

The food that we had was not good at all. The charcuterie was a joke. Drinks are expensive enough. Pack your own food in using clear bags!!

Can anyone recommend a blanket that will be allowed in, I have a 45x60 blanket but don't want to get to the gate and it not be allowed? Also can we bring in any snacks as long as unopened, like small bag of chips?

Max blanket is 40"x60" per the venue's "what to bring" page: https://live.stanford.edu/venues/frost-amphitheater/what-to-bring/

Which way does the amphitheater face? Wondering when it becomes shaded in summer.

Are seats typically provided at concerts?

Is seating for always provided for every event? We have a Mac Demarco concert we're attending on Sun, 10-24 and don't know what to expect. Rain is forecasted so don't want to prepay for parking. Most likely we'll go regardless of weather. 1st timers

Where can I park for events/concerts at this area?

There are lots. We went to an evening concert and found street parking really easily!

I also planned to go to day 3 with a group of friends. On D2, I was able to carpool at a garage with a friend approximately a 20 minute walk from the stadium. I don't recommend parking here at all. Getting out of it was a nuisance since we had to wait almost an hour before we were able to leave the garage due to traffic. I highly recommend taking CalTrain to/from the stadium which is what I did with my group of friends on D3. It was very convienent and we were able to hop on a train within 15 minutes when we got to the station after the concert. The security and staff were very friendly and were happy to help us when we had questions. It was a bit disorganized and I wasn't sure where to go on D2. I wasn't aware nor notified I had to get a wristband for floor until a nice fellow Army let me know. Luckily a staff member pointed me to the right location to pick them up. D2 was quite disorganized in the 100's section. It was extremely crowded once I was trying to navigate and find my way how to get to floor. Once I got my bearings and got to my seat, I was so excited! My section was worth the last minute price ($670 via official TM) because I was directly in front of the main stage. I got to see the boys up front and close and vibe with Army and them! Exiting from floor was a pain, because there was only one exit from my section and I had a meet up location planned to meet up with my friend who was sitting in the 100's section. Getting out was a little confusing because there were barricades everywhere. Signal is also HORRID here and I was lucky enough to call my friend to tell her to meet up with me at a specific gate. D3 went a lot more smoother and I noticed there was less crowds in the 100's section. Maybe because it was a Tuesday? Bathrooms were easier to get to that day also. We were seated in section 126 and still had a great view especially of the side stage. Outside the stadium can get extremely dusty, and I highly recommend wearing a face mask to prevent breathing in the dirt. Overall I had a wonderful experience especially for going solo on floor! It was worth the time and money coming to the venue.

Long lines to enter the arena for big games, mediocre concessions (which still require ordering on outdated keypads or self-scanning) and perhaps a worse food selection than the pathetic 7/11 on Lytton street. Acoustically, it's very loud, which only increases the home-court advantage. The design is pretty wild. When you enter the outer doors from outside, you think you're stepping inside, but you're not. There are large exterior holes cut into the walls, with slanted roofs leading down *into* the building. There are huge gutters under those slanted roofs, so you wouldn't get wet if it were raining, but you're not technically "inside" until you enter the seating bowl itself, which has these special airtight doors for that very reason. (Normally, the vomitoria [tunnels] that lead into arenas and stadia are open on both ends, but in this case, they need doors on the outside to make the inside of the seating bowl itself truly inside.) This should be a four-star review, but absurdly rich Stanford had to be cheap and not install individual seats throughout the arena. Even arenas with sections of bleachers usually have individual seats on the sides of the court, but we were sitting almost at mid-court, and we had to deal with awful benches. I would have preferred flat bleachers, but Stanford installed those awful separated plastic seats familiar from its football stadium. (They're literally the exact same models as at Stanford Stadium.) They're an awful hybrid of bleachers and seats. Call them the worst of both worlds--enough seating room for only the smallest of butts, but instead of a flat bleacher that allows you to sit wherever you want, these have small metal or plastic separators, which means your tush hurts after the game unless you're small enough to fit right in the middle of the tiny seat. It's also needlessly far from its designated parking structure--the structure isn't actually that far from the arena, but there's no crosswalk in a logical place; you have to walk way past Maples before you're allowed to cross the street. And the traffic directors on game days are a joke. They just wave you along without regard for which of many different events you're attending. If I had done what they had told me, we would have parked almost a mile from Maples, and one of my guests had mobility issues.

This is one of the world's most outstanding private assemblies of postwar American art, gifted by Bay Area collectors Harry W. "Hunk" and Mary Margaret "Moo" Anderson and their daughter Mary Patricia Anderson Pence, who looks more like Moo but acts like Hunk. The museum, which opened in 2014, houses 121 paintings and sculptures and is known for its focus on movements like Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, and Pop Art. The collection is celebrated for featuring canonical works by some of the 20th century's most significant American artists. Key figures and their works include: Jackson Pollock: The monumental drip painting "Lucifer," considered by many to be the outstanding drip painting still in private hands before it was gifted to Stanford. Mark Rothko: The signature color-field work, "Pink and White over Red." Clyfford Still: A large, imposing piece called "1957-J No. 1 (PH-142)." Richard Diebenkorn: Works like "Ocean Park #60," which displays his progression into abstract forms using geometric shapes and a subdued color palette. Other Masters: The collection also includes works by Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Philip Guston, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthaler. The museum building itself is spacious, which means it feels mostly like space. The coolest thing was the meticulous library that felt too nice to even touch. Be sure to see the Cantor Arts Museum next door. Random Notes: One exhibit had a music video by Nick Cave on repeat, which was annoying and a little out of place, echoing throughout the museum. Oddly, it was not the Nick Cave you are thinking off (i.e. Bad Seeds). It was a different Nick Cave. Which is weird. One of the collection's anchor pieces, a major painting by Clyfford Still, was acquired a jockey who had won the famous 1950s television quiz show, "The $64,000 Question," and then retired to open an art gallery in San Francisco. 2. Mark Tansey's painting "Yosemite Falls (Homage to Watkins)" (1993), depicts the famous waterfall, but instead of falling water, the cascade is made up of cameras and tripods. I looked into an art textbook to try to interpret it and apparently it means I am gay.
