We had the best interactive learning experience here. Children were split up into 4-5 groups with an educator from the institute. We were lucky to be in Emma's group. The kids got to see and touch shrimp, fish, spider crabs, mussels, clams, sea sponge and more! We also learned about the leopard shark and got to pet one. The kids worked collaboratively to collect samples from the bay and even got to look at plankton under a microscope. The owner and staff are all lovely as well. My favorite thing about CRA is the amount of progress I feel I've made after each lesson. She told them she gets naked in bed with him and sucks on his....she then realized what she did wrong and told all the kids to keep it a secret from their parents. I've been told this counselor has been removed, but 1) why is a 14 year old in charge of 8-13 year olds 2) why isn't there a more robust training 3) what is the vetting process before hiring someone? 4) why are 8 year olds in the same group as 13 year olds? Don't ever send your kids here. My daughter's innocence was stripped away in a day.

The campus is well spaced, with three or four large mixed-age classrooms and two large playgrounds. The school focuses on social-emotional learning through mixed-age group play, teaching children to take care of their own needs (folding their blankets, cleaning up, looking after their belongings, etc., ), and art/creative learning. On a typical day, kids spend time reading books, doing fun activities with their teaches as well as outside play and often times singing or preparing for fun school events. Over the three years since we joined, Sharmila has grown this school through word of mouth and expanded her staff and school facilities. The student to teacher ratio is impressive (about 1:6) and kids get individual attention from their care-givers. Our daughter misses her teachers and the experience. Throughout the school year there were plenty of events for parents to take part in and to connect with other families. Whenever we needed help managing a challenge, Sharmila was always keen to work with us and accommodating. She has a good understanding of the individual nature of each kid and what would enable them to overcome a challenge. It is evident that Sharmila has years of experience and understanding in nurturing young children.

He loves Battle bots so I thought it would be great to send him to ID tech after receiving a flyer after attending a Battlebots show in Las Vegas. After spending $1600, we were disappointed. He had a great time, but he didn't learn anything, or do half of what was advertised. They didn't get to play outside like was advertised, not much of a campus tour, didn't learn coding, and spent a large amount of time on Roblox. In fact, his closest friend from camp came from the Roblox class. We were supposed to get to witness the final competition, which we later found out took place before parents were allowed in, and there was no certificate ceremony as advertised. By the time parents were allowed in, the kids were just playing with the robot and passing the controller around. He didn't really seem to know any of the kids in his class, and the other kids seemed to just be parallel playing as opposed to collaborating as a class or teammates. We had invited his relatives for the last day, as it was supposed to be presented as this big event to witness what our kids had learned, but in the end I was grateful they weren't able to make it. I feel like I would have been embarrassed of what they would have seen. Also for the price, he didn't get to keep the robot. And the flashdrive he received? It was completely blank. His favorite part of the experience you ask? The cafeteria.

The assembly work done for the bots was much easier than a basic LEGO set, so I'm not sure what engineering-interested kid could possibly learn anything from this camp. CoderSchool in Berkeley is half the price and actually teaches coding.
