The taste... it tastes like an M&M (with a slight hint of coconut.) I could have saved myself a lot of money just buying a bag of M&M's. But I don't like M&M's! See the problem? (And there were small M&M's on the top which is ok but it was overpowering.) I also had to try something cupcake related right? My daughter got a huge slice of funfetti cake. I had one layer of the cake. I can share the frosting was thick and dense. I like it sweet and melts in my mouth. Thus was not that. The cake itself was dense too. I was my cake fluffy. He said he wouldn't have time to add custom decorations, but I had an idea and had him frost 11 in green and 1 in red. When I picked them up on Saturday, he added two cookies to the box. I also ordered a meat pie and a kofta wrap and while I was waiting, he gave me two pieces of warm baklava, fresh from the oven! Absolutely delicious. When everything was ready, he carried it out to my car for me, since I had the stroller. He's such a kind man. And oh my gosh... possibly the best cupcakes I've ever had. The frosting was light and more buttery than sweet. I usually take the frosting off of cupcakes but I didn't this time because it was just too good. The lemon curd center was tangy and just the right level of sweetness. I will return to Michael's for every birthday/anniversary/party from now on. We have had 2 occasions where the (absolutely delicious) pandan coconut cake got a little dented or melted/partly destroyed. The first time we kind of just overlooked it because maybe it was bumped during the car ride or something, but the second time the layers of the cake were actually collapsing and it seemed like the top might slide off, and there were no real bumps during the car ride. The one time we ordered the ube cake this didn't happen, and I think I recall it came with a stiff plastic sheet around it to help with structural integrity. For some reason this wasn't there for the pandan cakes, but maybe for the future it should always be there because these cakes are so soft and fluffy.
