What I loved most about these was the flavors were original, but they had a unique twist to them. For example, the cookies & cream cupcake is a chocolate cake topped with heavenly frosting infused with huge chunks of oreo. The actual frosting tastes like Oreo creme. My personal favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough. The frosting tastes like a huge piece of cookie dough. It was unreal. I just love this place. The interior is so cute and clean and the assortment of cupcakes they offer is outstanding. It seems to be owned/ran by a couple (Joe and Sharon) and they are the sweetest things ever, probably moreso than their treats! The lady is always inventing some kind of new concoction. And, they usually have at least one or two VEGAN options which is appealing to many. They have a case of cupcakes and another cold case of bottled drinks and specialty drinks alike as well as some other sugary confections. I have never had a cupcake like this before. Banana cream cupcake has pudding inside and its absolutely delicious! You would think it might be too much but NO! The cookie dough was not really a hit for me...the frosting tasted like a really uncooked cookie dough. Well that is what is called but it had too much of uncooked taste for me. Still very moist tho. They definitely proved themselves as one of the best places to get cupcakes in town! Had their Key Lime cupcake for my birthday as well as Champagne Pear Bellini. One thing that makes them so special is that their cupcakes are not too sweet and very light. I could actually eat two of them and not feel like I'm going into a diabetic coma. So we took 4 cupcakes back to our hotel room last night. Everyone loved theirs. We got black & white...which is a dark chocolate cupcake and a white frosting. The cake part was so moist! And the white frosting had vanilla bean specks in it! Kudos to Frosting Etc. The other cupcake we got was a Reese peanut butter cup. The cake compliments well, and she uses tiny dark chocolate chips to create just enough bitterness to make the whole combination wonderful to the very last bite. The Death by Chocolate is just that. Yay! Tampa is finally catching on to the food trends! Although the cupcake movement is a few years old now, it never gets old in my book! I love the creative flavors Frostings etc. has come with! On my first visit I tried the cookie dough, tiramisu, and the guiness. The cookie dough was amazing! The tiramisu was seriously lacking in the "tiramisu" flavor and was more like a vanilla cupcake with a lady finger on top. The guiness cupcake was tasty and clever with a pretzel on top, but I'm not a big fan of chocolate cakes. The one flavor I was really looking forward to trying was their signature pear bellini. Unfortunately, they were sold out before we got there. Although this place is great for grabbing orders to go, I would highly recommend enjoying them there and asking for some of their amazing coffee on the side! My first impression of Frostings, Etc was shaky, but once my concerns were brought to Joe's attention, he immediately offered to make things right, proving, to me, that he values customer service. I'm really shocked that there are reviews here that say the frosting is flavorless and the cake is dry. I loved the creamy consistency and vibrant flavors. So far, I've tried the Guiness, Death by Chocolate, Key Lime, Peanut Butter Cup, Red Velvet, Champagne Pear Belini, and Carrot Cake. None has been dry (the Key Lime was the dryest, but still moist) and the Champagne Pear Belini was exceptionally moist. That said, the Champagne Pear Belini didn't really taste like champagne (but I'll give it another shot) and I expected a stronger flavor from the Red Velvet cream cheese frosting (cream cheese frosting is so distinct). The chocolate ones were great, but it's super hard to screw up chocolate! The peanut butter cup was my favorite chocolate cupcake. All in all, I like the cupcakes from Frosting, Etc and because I live within walking distance, it will likely become my cupcakery of choice. read more

My now husband and I went into Frostings Etc. in late December trying to find a vendor for our wedding reception, which just took place this past weekend in Clearwater Beach, FL. We're from Brooklyn, and coming from NYC, we have pretty high cupcake standards. We read some reviews about Frostings and decided to give it a shot. Joe, the owner, greeted us that December day and we enjoyed three cupcakes and a great conversation with him. He's from the Northeast and is our kind of guy. I read some other reviews on yelp about Joe's manner - c'mon people. Joe is the best. For our wedding, we had the Pear Bellini, Cookie Dough, and dark chocolate guinness cupcake. All three flavors were delicious. The cupcakes here are heavier than other vendors, and the flavors are truly delicious. Joe and Sharon were also willing to do some special things for our ceremony that Frostings doesn't normally do (we served muffins during our ceremony - it's an inside joke amongst friends). Joe and Sharon took on this project without question - now that's high quality customer service. Joe personally delivered the cupcakes and muffins the day of the wedding. Remember - we live in Brooklyn, so all of our interactions were via email or telephone, aside from that one day in December when we met. For anyone planning a DIY destination wedding, you know that it can be very nerve wracking. Joe's service was superb. On a recent trip to Tampa to visit family, my sister and I headed out to find Frostings, Inc. after finding good reviews online. The store signage was very cute. There were only a limited number of flavors to choose from, but enough for us to be excited to order. Joe, the ower, was a great help. The cupcakes were great. I had the salted caramel and it was wonderful and full of caramel. The best part of Frostings is Joe and his outgoing, warm personality. He made us feel incredible welcome and he was like an old freind that you haven't seen in a while, but you pick up right where you left off. We spent over an hour there eating cupcakes, drinking coffee, and listening to Joe tell stories. Next time I'm in Tampa, I'll be heading back to Frostings. It was worth the trip! read more

Went back last evening for two cupcakes: we tried the Champagne Pear Bellini and the Strawberry Shortcake. We unfortunately weren't impressed with either of these, especially for the price. The Strawberry Shortcake cost $4.25 which is significantly more expensive than the two cupcakes we purchased at this same shop 8 months ago for $3.50 each. The strawberry shortcake was kind of wet/soggy, not what I was expecting at all. There was nothing especially good or bad about the Champagne Pear Bellini, but we just didn't particularly care for the flavor. The cupcakes were very beautifully decorated and the size was average to generous. As I said they were on the pricer end of the cupcake-spectrum, which we wouldn't have minded at all if they had only tasted better. I took away one star from my previous review because of our poor experience this time. I may still go back but I would return to other local cupcake shops before coming here again, since their quality has been inconsistent for me. How does everyone in SoHo not weigh 300 pounds after coming to this piace?? Got 4 massive cupcakes for $14 as well, which seems a fair price for the amount fo delicious in that box.
