The case never disappoints and I always love talking to the owner, she is warm inviting and such helpful. My former student first introduced me to this place and I will be forever grateful. Go try the pretzel sandwiches the salami are my favorite, the bullwinkle moose and the cream horns are definitely our go to order. But sometimes you just need an extra pretzel, a cheese danish or a huge apple fritter. I'm just going say stop at the Cafe Mozart German Bakery. Your eyes will be delighted by beautiful trays of pastries and desserts. The aroma of baked goods will seal the deal. Eclairs, Napoleons, Mouse, Cheesecake, Tortes, Crescents, and the variety of Strudels will make it difficult to choose just one. Get a box. Do a taste test with your friends and family after dinner. I met the owners, the wife is responsible for the front of house and her husband is the baker. We were looking for a place to eat for lunch near the astronomical clock. A woman from Cafe Mozart invited us in. You wouldn't see it if she wasn't directing people to it. It's upstairs inside the building. I told her I couldn't do stairs bc of my bad knee. No problem, they have a lift. And bonus- their windows on the 2nd floor are directly across from the astronomical clock and you don't need to be in the crowds to watch it. The place was beautifully decorated with elegant china. We got a seat near the window. I had a delicious pumpkin soup and bread. There's a display case of pastries, so I had to have a look and decided on one. Another find in the area-who knew that some vegan croissants and baked goods are served here! We enjoyed some raisin almond paste scone danish treats, "strudel" was tasty even though it did not have the traditional layers of phyllo. Almond crescent cookies were $6 which seemed very highly priced so they did not come home with me. Service was very pleasant and plenty of parking it in their own lot. I have driven past this place many a time but thanks to several social media post recently. I decided to stop in. It is on the north end of fourth Street in St Pete. Good amount of parking and easy access. They are open today even though it is Monday because it is the week of Christmas and tomorrow, Christmas Eve until 2 PM. They make everything fresh in house and have a huge assortment. They have Christmas stolen, which is very German like a fruit bread, many pastries and danishes; you can even buy an entire strudel. They box everything up very nicely for you and make it easy to just present as a gift. They also have a drive-through. They are extremely friendly and kind. They also have a refrigerator with German sausages. On the countertop they have many types of German jellies. I wish I had looked for mustard, but I forgot, but I will definitely be back. A friend of mine mentioned this bakery to me and told me I had to go and get almond horns for her when I went (as well as bring her some back). I heard great things so decided to stop by. Doesn't look like anything special on the outside but it's magical on the inside! Just split a Rum Ball and a Chocolate Croissant with my spouse. OMG! We have to put the box of pastries away immediately and promise to not touch the box again till next day... I was looking for a new "Sweet Spot" as one of our go-to's closed down recently and our other go-to seems to have had a change in staffing resulting in different quality and taste of product. I also was looking for a consolation treat for my spouse that just went through a torture session at the chiropractor. I hit the jackpot with this gem! We must have looked comical to the lady behind the counter when we pulled up and made our way in. I am a blind Puerto Rican that relies on a white cane and guidance from my wife and as noted earlier, she was in a lot of pain and had to hang on me for support. The lady (and I will definitely get her name next time) was so accommodating for me by describing all the treats and for my wife by offering and carrying our box of goodies to the car for us. She had such a jovial and pleasant demeanor. We've supported local businesses in the past simply for such a warm and welcoming experience, but the products may have not been exceptional. Well, that's not the case here! Both experience and product were exceptional. We made the mistake of going here hungry so our selection and box kept growing. We got the Rum Balls, the Chocolate Croissant, the Apple, cinnamon, raisin, almond Strudel, the vanilla Horseshoe and chocolate Horseshoe cookies, and another item or two. While the taste and textures of each goodie are rich and decadent, you are not overwhelmed by the sugar content. For example, the filling on the strudel was not overprocessed, tasted homemade, and let the natural fruit and sweet flavors shine. We can't wait to find out what else we have in the box read more

Wanted to do something special for a friend of mine in St. Petersburg, who is German, looked online for German bakeries in St. Petersburg and all things pointed to the Cafe Mozart on 4th street. It was very hard to choose as all of the tortes and cakes look wonderful, chose the fruit Torte. It was a hit, so delicious. The people I dealt with on the phone were terrific, very accommodating. My first inquiry was with Laura or Lori and my next call to place the order was with I believe one of the owners. So underrated. I feel like this place is almost a hole in the wall. It's not small by all means, but it's understated and good! Was traveling and saw this place. Got a danish, cannoli looking thing (maybe their strudel?), cheesecake, and chocolate croissant. These are your typical bakery items you can find anywhere, but cafe Mozart doesn't serve them in a typical way. Cheesecake was not sweet. Admittedly, this was our least favorite... tasted like sugarless sponge cake. Everything else was delicious but not baked in your typical usual way. A St. Pete staple! All their baked goods are delicious but blueberry cheese strudel is my favorite. They are huge and great for entertaining a crowd. Love that there's a drive thru option. Everyone who works there is super sweet and friendly. Would recommend ordering in advance if you're ordering strudel for a big group because they do run out. Not much to look at on the outside, but where it counts -- the baked goods -- it's fantastic. I'd heard good things about the bienenstich, so I went there specifically to try it. It is EXCELLENT! It's one of my favorite desserts and they did it perfectly. Among the best I've ever had. I've been back a few time and, in addition to the bienenstich, I always sample something else: cookies, strudel, croissants, etc. Everything is wonderful. My husband was looking forward to picking up some German treats this morning, but when we got there it was closed, despite the sign saying Open on Tuesdays. The owner was outside pressure cleaning the building and arbitrarily decided to close. When my hubby tried to tell him that we had driven all the way from Gulfport, he got nasty, and started shouting. "Get out of here! I don't need your business! F--- off! Get out of here!" The deserts here are beautifully done traditional German desserts, growing up overseas these are the kind of pastries I used to have, delicious moist soft cakes that flake with creamy rich creams and icings that don't just taste like sugar but have actual flavor and a beautiful silky creamy texture!
