The chocolate cake is to die for. I am a baked goods snob. There, I said it. I try to maintain a somewhat healthy diet so when I eat sweets it better well be good or else I cry at the lost calories. (I'm not exaggerating, my husband knows to avoid me if I have a bad meal, because I will be a witch for the rest of the day.) I always know that Curious Cat Bakery doesn't disappoint. I've eaten bad cake, heck, I've baked bad cake. You know, the cake that is dry and crumbly. I've had cake that looks beautiful so you forgive how it tastes by saying, hey, how can I expect a cake to be both beautiful and taste good. Well, Curious Cat Bakery has raised my standards and now I don't order a cake from anywhere else. I have to throw in here that this is coming from a non vegan, so I have my options when it comes to ordering cake. However, like I wrote, I don't trust other places to always deliver. I've gotten my son's birthday cake from here, demanded my husband order my birthday cake from here and ordered my dad's birthday cake from here. Every time it's been amazing. Most of my friends aren't vegan and I serve this cake to them. That's the magic trick, they can't tell it's vegan unless I tell them. My dad even said how is it so moist without butter and eggs? Magic? I don't know, but it is very good. The frosting is dense, sugary and chocolatey. Again, how is this vegan? Who knows and who cares, it's freaking delicious. It's always decorated beautifully too. Look at my picture with the chocolate covered strawberries and the flowers. It's very elegant. Right now during COVID-19 the best part is they deliver. And if you live in St. Petersburg, you're lucky, because your delivery is FREE! I live over the bridge so my delivery is $15, but it is well worth it. The cake in the picture is only $40. Trust me, I've priced out a lot of cake over the years and this one is a steal even with the delivery fee. I ended up sending a piece of cake to three neighbors and we have enough left over to last us a week. An idea for you, that I already implemented, is send your friends cookies. Since delivery in St. Petersburg is free (did I mention that?) I sent a friend who's husband is vegan some cookies with a note saying I miss her. I ordered the croissant sampler pack and had to exercise great restraint not to eat all of the croissants in one weekend. They arrived in good condition and I froze them immediately; they were delicious when refreshed per the instructions in the box. I never had croissants before going vegan, so I cannot compare these to non-vegan versions. But I can't imagine a croissant tasting better than these, vegan or not. All three flavors are delicious, and it is a testament to how insanely good the croissants themselves are that my favorite variety was the plain croissant. The vegan Chocolate Chip cookies are amazing!! I was a little skeptical because they have salt on them. I never had cookies with salt on them. However, the salt made a delicious addition. Putting them in the microwave for a short time, as advised, made the cookies even better, if that is possible. The holiday box of cookies was great. I was looking for a healthy birthday cake to suit our family members' dietary restrictions and stumbled upon Natalia's lovely bakery. I contacted her via phone and she answered immediately. I was looking for a 30th birthday cake that was both fun and tasty. She suggested a variety of flavors and was extremely helpful. I decided on a carrot cake "30" cake, which she described as tasting similar to yellow cake. I fed this cake to 9 people and did not tell them it was vegan - they LOVED IT and thought it was in fact yellow cake. The cake was decorated with Natalia's signature cookies, truffles, and macaroons. My guests raved about the macaroons but loved absolutely everything about the cake. Natalia was able to fulfill my order in four days and was very accommodating with pickup, including offering to deliver my order. I had to cut out dairy and soy from my diet due to my newborn's allergy, so my husband was on the hunt for a birthday cake that would meet those dietary restrictions but still taste delicious. He found the Curious Cat and the Dream Come True Carrot Cake sure did fit the bill! While it is nothing like a traditional carrot cake, it is fantastic in its own way. The cake was very moist and the chocolate fudge frosting was rich and delicious. If my husband hadn't told me, I never would have guessed the cake was vegan. It was so good that my husband and I finished the entire 9-inch cake over the course of 5 days with our two-year-old being the only person with whom we shared.
