I'd like to leave less than 1-star but that's not possible. We walked up to the doors around 730-8 last Saturday and doors were locked and lights were dim. We noticed someone cleaning up in the back and knocked to ask if they were still open. They came and struggled to unlatch the door for several minutes and said "it was stuck". After stepping into their lobby area it was extremely hot. My wife ordered the Chicago pub flurry which looked like a disaster - cup was sticky and covered with all the toppings and the frozen custard was completely melted. My daughters ordered peanut butter cup flurries and received a cup of frozen custard topped with a few pieces of the candy. I got an banana split and asked for no nuts and lo and behold still had nuts in the split. A big reason why I'm being so hard on the review as well is that for people with major nut allergies this is a huge deal. The staff should pay more attention to things like this because of how serious nut allergies are. For myself, I am allergic but not as bad as others and couldn't even eat it. However, by the time I had a chance to even check my ice cream when I got back I couldn't go back to the store. I'm unsure if I would come back here or not after this experience. read more

Upon walking in the girl standing at the counter was extremely rude, and immediately blurted out "I ain't anything other than cones or cups" When asked about available flavors the employee, despite us being very clear spoken, she said "I didn't hear nothing you said" and when asked again she told us that they had already shut down two of the four available flavors for the night and only chocolate and vanilla were available. Upon paying she expectingly shook a styrofoam tips cup at us, which we did not oblige her to. upon recieving our ice cream we were shooed out by the employee who then shit off the lights behind us and locked the door, 45 minutes before closing. This place is genius. There are NO TABLES. It's teeny tiny - just big enough to order an ice cream cone and leave. There was a good variety, but what we all LOVED was the super small ice cream cone for 75 center (I believe - it may have been 70 cents). Froyo served me up a delicious orange sherbert/vanilla soft-service swirl in a cone on a hot summer day. (On a side note, why doesn't everyone have dreamsicle swirls? Orange and vanilla is such a winning combination.) I was a little overwhelmed by the many options, but once I zeroed in on my frozen treat, I was all set. Yesterday I went and was told that the "Rewards System" was down and that getting a copy of my receipt would not help because they did not have time to deal with it afterwards WOW!!!!! I live close to two yogurt shops where customer service is still KEY! I had no idea that the ownership had changed. That explains why the standards are different, it is not as clean as it used to be not filthy just not the same standards. The previous Owner was very particular about how the staff cleans. What a great little Frozen Yogurt place right on Calumet Avenue. Get their chocolate FroYo and you'll swear it is chocolate ice cream. My mate gets the twist - half chocolate and half vanilla. Good food, nice service from the teenage employees, and a great little FroYo place. This business started in Calumet City on the south side of Chicago...moved to Munster in 1995 to a location (now called Jodi's Italian Ice) just a hundred yards from the current location...moved here in 2013. Open only open about eight months a year ... so you'll have to follow their signs. Just shy of Ridge on Calumet. Do it and you'll like it. read more

A MUST in the town of Munster. Definitely recommend a Shake It if you like milkshakes packed with an entire candy bar or cookie of your choice. Have great deals during the week, like .99 cent milkshakes from 11-2PM. Also love the iced coffee deal (buy the cup for $3.50 and get .99 refills). During the summer it will be packed and the one major downfall is the tiny parking lot at their new location. Considering that is my only complaint, I think they're doing a great job! read more

Yesterday, for the very first time I dropped into this place with couple of my friends. The name itself implies that they are good at making and serving Froyos. I didn't try the Froyos there as I was not in the mood for a Froyo and I was assuming they should be good. So, for a change, I tried the plain classic Vanilla Milkshake. The best part was they also add a banana to the shake for free. (It is displayed at the bottom of the menu, you surely don't want to miss that if you are a banana lover). There is a small window where the orders are taken. There was a pretty young lady who was making all these shakes and desserts. I ordered a large Milkshake and it was just $4.5. She also suggested me if I need a cherry on the top, and yes, sure I wanted it. When I received my order, I was stunned looking at the size of the milkshake. It was hugeeeee. There was only one thing going on in my mind, "If I finish this milkshake, it would immediately promote me from size XL to XXL." But I didn't care. I was straight over it and started sipping the shake. Wow, it was absolutely amazing. One of the best shakes I have ever had in my life. I loved it. I would definitely go to this place again to try out more but I will remember to take a smaller one the next time. My friends took Froyos with Cakebatter and cheese cake flavors. I tasted each of those and they were delicious too. There is not much of a seating space. Its basically a take-out place. They just have 3 steel benches where me and my friends sat and had our milkshakes and froyos. I recommend this place. Loved it. Why didn't I give 5 stars? That is because, I felt they could do much better in terms of ambience. All the menu boards look very cluttered up with the names and leads to confusion. This is a 5 star worth place though. I used to go here regularly when they were in their more accessible location. The items are always prepared well. The only time they messed up was by making me a double order. But hey, that's a good mistake - more dessert! The desserts are great and there's not really anything they don't make well! You won't be disappointed except by maybe the strip mall parking situation. I always like their ice cream. But what I don't like is their policy . I bought a chunky monkey Ice cream which I never had before. It had Chocolate chips . Well I took a bite and my tooth cracked the chocolate chips were frozen My daughter said she has order it before That the chocolate chil weren't frozen and it was good. She taste my and she spit it out, She says they were frozen. I ask the girl and Told her I couldn't eat it can I have it replace for something else. She said No she can't. I Told I couldn't eat it, I had no choice but to throw it away . She told me to throw it outside. I payed over $4.00 for it, and she didn't care. So I throw it outside in front of her were she can see. And that was it. The point is rally if you can see that everything was in tack in the ice cream except we're I took a spoon to eat was gone . and I buy there all the time. Forget DQ, forget every other "Froyo" shop. This is the one and only real deal. In their new location they've got 8 rotating soft serve yogurts, gelato, and ice cream. There is always something for everyone. Prices are very reasonable and their rewards programs gives you $5 for every $50 spent. This is my favorite place in Munster and I can't recommend enough. I purchased a cone at Froyo in Munster on yesterday evening, May 21, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The Cashier had waited on customers before me as well as myself. She did not have on gloves while handling money and bank cards or when punching in orders on register, I waited to see if she was going to wash her hands before making my cone. Of course she did not. When I kindly asked her to wash her hands before making my cone, her response was, I'm not required to wear gloves. I told her okay. I explained to her that her hands were dirty from using the cash register, handling credit cards and money. She refused to wash her hands and complained to her co-worker openly about me asking her to wash her hands. She was belligerent and very disrespectful to me. One would think, if she had ever been taught proper hygiene as a child and now as an employee this would not have been an issue for her. I am still disgusted by her lack of common sense, disrespect and the desire to practice proper hygiene during this COVID-19 Pandemic. There was also a customer in line that voiced her disgust and concerns about her disrespect and her refusal to wash her hands. Her co-worker stated to me that she had just washed her hands, they were still wet and she would make my cone.
