I stopped here for a snack and got a peanut butter milkshake. Wow! The shake was so good and refreshing! It was thick, very creamy, and wasn't too peanut butter-y. They were out of a small, so I got a medium. It looked like a large. But it was so good! The girl taking my order was very polite, friendly, and bubbly. This was definitely the disappointment of my trip back home. I grew up going to Dairy Belle, the original in Hammond. My sister thought it would be fun to go here since there is a park nearby for the kids. I guess we all expected this ice cream to be like the original but it was nowhere near. I knew immediately this was not even close to what I grew up with. The ice cream was watery and blah and maybe a half step up from DQ across the way. In fact, we were so convinced this ice cream didn't match up with the original location that we drove over there to taste test. Who can argue with a food scientist (sis) who immediately knew upon one taste this location was different. I'm not THAT kind of expert but I also knew in one taste that I reached heaven again at the Hammond location. read more

I went to Dairy Belle in Schererville last night around 7:00, the girl at the drive thru was so rude and had the worst attitude. I questioned the price at the drive thru because a small cone 2.59, I ordered 2, the girl said that will we like 6.59. So when I approached the window I asked her why is it 6.89, when they're 2.59 ea. she said," we are allowed to change our prices and don't need to notify our customers, maybe if you had the app on your phone, you would know the prices!! Then she said, " do you want them or not 3 times! Then as I'm leaving she said while laughing, yea, I hope your night gets better. Zero stars for customer service! read more

And I have to say: I don't understand any of the (small smattering of) negative reviews this place has gotten. Ice cream is always good here. I have been going here for years since they opened; however, I will now be going to DQ across the street. We pulled in the parking lot at 8:50, waited in line for 8 minutes until finally making it to the window. Went to place my order at 8:58, and the staff said they are no longer mixing ice cream (flurries) because they are closed. Girl was very rude through the window. I understand that it was close to closing, but they put a cone behind my car because I was the last vehicle they were serving. So, they should have served me. I really wasn't that hungry oh, but I pulled up at the drive-thru window because I saw a sign for real pistachio soft serve ice cream. That sounded good a good to me I've never been there before. I pulled through the drive-up window can I immediately caught my eye was a picture of a hot dog with tomatoes, sport peppers, pickle spear on that beautiful S. Rosen poppy seed bun. So that point I changed my order and I decided I'm going to have that hot dog now that got my stomach talkin feed me. I grew up in Chicago live in Indiana now in a part where we don't in a part where we don't have hot dogs "dragged thru the Garden" on every corner. So I told her give me the hot dog with everything and then the lady replied "you mean Chicago style?" I said well if that's what you call it yes cuz in Chicago we don't call it Chicago style it's just a hot dog dragged to the garden war. With everything. I get this bag I start driving a few streets away. I'm eating my pistachio ice cream cone which was delicious by the way which is why I gave this restaurant 2 out of one star. Anyway after I finish the cone cuz obviously Edith that first cuz it might melt, I go to grab the hot dog. The first thing I notice is there's no poppy seeds on this bun. I'm like what the hell? Chicago style without a poppy seed bun is sacrilegious. That's like ordering a Chicago-style deep-dish and it comes out looking like a Pizza Hut pan pizza. It's like ordering an Italian beef and they serve it to you on a hot dog bun. Anyway, I was like what the hell did I just order? I've got it now I might as well try it. I took a bite out of it and it just didn't taste right he was missing something and I go to look there's no tomatoes. See my mind I'm thinking you have no right to call it a Chicago-style dog if you don't have a poppy seed bun, a Vienna beef hot dog, bright green relish, fresh chopped onions, pickle spear, sport peppers. And 2 TOMATOE SLICES. Some places even serve it with a cucumber, I can forgo that because that's not the majority of places in the city. But I will guarantee you 100% one thing oh, they will all have a poppy seed bun and 2 tomato slices, just like the picture at the drive-thru menu. I called the store and I said you forgot tomatoes and there's no poppy seed bun. We don't have a poppy seed bun and we don't have tomatoes on our Chicago-style hot dogs. Then you shouldn't call it Chicago style. Am I right? That's like going in order order Tony special combination order Tony special combination pizza and when you go open it there's no onions or green pepper and mushrooms on it only sausage. Isn't it just a sausage pizza black olives. Why is it called a combination? You get my point. Ladies and gentlemen of the employees of this particular establishment, please change the name of this hot dog from Chicago style to "Kind of but not Chicago style" or Schererville Style. Or hot dog with pickle onion sport peppers and mustard. The point is you have that sign with the picture of the hot dog and it looks like everything hot dog you gave me wasn't. After the first bite threw it back in the bag and I filed it where should be basically uneaten in in the trash can. Stop the false advertisement Chicago hot dogs. Don't put the picture up and there won't be any problems. And by the way the lady I only said sorry, not bring it back and we'll give you something else or anyting. So lucky I don't live there otherwise I can come back and spray paint black over that picture of that beautiful looking hot dog on the menu board and I'm going to paste a picture of the same goodnight attached to this review with a sign that says "partly Chicago-style hot dogs served here. And don't call and complain cuz we told you it wasn't Chicago style!" Cooler for the ice cream or go there for a hot dog just don't go there for a Chicago Chicago-style hot dog. And by the way keep up the good work on those ice cream cones that was beautiful, taste great too. I would have given you five stars if this was a review on ice cream cones.. but it's really a review on false advertising in a mediocre hot dog that was sadly misrepresented at Chicago style. :-( read more

Nothing like having a rude employee tell you that they can't make your order after you waited in line until after close (at 9 PM in June btw). This is a local family-owned business and the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had! Their prices are cheap and their selection and toppings are really good. The staff which are all teenagers naturally are all nice and happy and always cheerful when we come in there. It's our new favorite place to get everything ice cream related. At first I thought DQ was the best way to get some good ice cream but when I tired Diary Belle's ice cream my whole perception of ice cream changed. I really like to keep it simple and get their chocolate and vanilla twist in a cup. Sometimes we might go crazy and get a strawberry flurry (which tastes like amazing whipped cream) or a banana split. Everything I've tried here so far has never been a disappointment.
