I wanted my favorite blizzard which is the snicker blizzard I told the young lady that I wanted a medium with extra snicker and what I got was barely any snicker. I can't understand why it's so hard to get my order right. If there's a charge for extra snicker then that's fine I'm willing to pay for it but all I get is these young worker's trying to pacify me saying ok I got you. This location recently remodeled and upgraded to a Grill & Chill. While the "Chill" treats quality remains the same, the "Grill" item I ordered was a disappointment. I decided upon the BBQ Chicken Strips basket. The portion size and barbecue sauce was good, however the chicken strips were lukewarm at best. The fries were also lukewarm, not crispy, and among the least appetizing I can recall. The slice of Texas Toast was slathered on one side with what tasted like cheap margarine... something I hadn't experienced at a restaurant in many years. $8.44 with a drink. I can think of a dozen drive thru/take out restaurants in the area that would be a better value at that price. Either up your cooked food quality or stick to ice cream. Also, upon exiting I witnessed 2 consecutive cars bottom out while entering the driveway. Whoever was responsible for the construction work needs to fix that ramp ASAP. read more

I have since bumped up the stars. I previously gave 2 stars for inconsistency with serve, but for the past few years, service has been great and my treats have always tasted awesome! GOOD JOB MUNSTER DQ! (Now, I wish all DQ's would bring back the Mister Misty instead of the Arctic Rush!) It's a hit or miss with this place. Some seasons, they have great workers that really know how to make a good DQ treat. Other season, they have workers that really suck ass in the soda jerking industry . As of now (spring of '08), they've really been sucking it up for me. For one, when I order a chocolate malt, I want to be able to taste chocolate, malt AND to be able to drink the dang thing with a straw. Well, I can't here. Their version of a chocolate malt tastes like the muddled ice cream flavor hovering somewhere between chocolate and vanilla, but the flavor is so indistinct you can't really tell what it is. AND it's as hard as a brick. Lately, they have also been SUPER chincy with their toppings. Don't even think about ordering a brownie earthquake because all you'll get is a mound of ice cream, a measly bite of brownie, and maybe just a sprinkling of hot fudge. The same goes for blizzards, too. I've had to resort to paying the extra $.59 for "extra stuff" in my blizzard, only to be horribly disappointed when I find that 3/4 of the blizzard cup is filled with solid vanilla ice cream and the only real "blizzard" is on the top inch of the treat. If they're that stingy with the amount of blizzard ingredients when I ask for double, I can't imagine what they put in a regular blizzard. I don't know what it is with this DQ. It seems like last year, I ate some pretty decent DQ treats. It may just be the crappy girls working there this year, or maybe the manager is trying to save some dough. I don't know. Whatever it is, though, I'm giving the DQ in Munster only two stars for their inconsistency. read more

A top notch Dairy Queen franchise. Much to my preference, their emphasis is more on the cool treats than the hot eats. The Dilly Bars are crispy cold so they're not melting by the time you get them, and the blizzards are almost always the right blend of candy and ice cream. My personal all-time favorite is the Brownie Earthquake - I pray that thing doesn't get discontinued. As for appearances, the building is really well maintained, which is rare for the fast food services industry. When I was younger (circa 15), most of the staff seemed like cute females. This super cute little place has the friendliest service and the most well manicured drive through gals. I had a complete order of a Smores Shake when I noticed the tiny piece of chocolate candy on top of my whip cream! It reminded me of the simpler things in life and the torrents of the weather and living in limbo went still. Oh and the bright colors of bracelets and nail polish really created a colorful atmosphere at this location and the shake was delicious with the overflow of cookie bits and marshmallow flavor topping. Terrible Dairy Queen. Ordered a large Berry Cheesecake blizzard on Sunday. I think I may have had 5 tiny pieces of cheesecake in this blizzard. I have small Blizzards in other states and have had more of whatever the theme of the blizzard is and taste it in every bite. Whoever owns the Dairy Queens in NW Indiana is very cheap on the ingredients and honestly I won't be returning to these DQs in the future. Waited in the the drive thru for 30 minutes to get to the window - because the microphone was out - only to have them say "we can't make chocolate ice cream right now." I waited while several cars were stuck at the mic because there was no sign informing customers to drive up to the window. A simple note telling folks that they're out of a major ingredient - like chocolate ice cream, or to drive up to the window - would be helpful. Needless to say to I left without making a purchase. This Dairy Queen is one of the finer institutions of ice cream in the Northwest Indiana area. Though it has the standard menu of other Dairy Queens, it has a limited brazier which means that we have some stuff that others don't have! (BBQ beef sandwiches, chili cheese dogs, etc). I went to this location with a friend. I can't have dairy and was extremely careful about this. The girl at the drive thru told me that the Julius drinks were dairy free without my asking which was great! I confirmed this FOUR times only to get home and realize I felt sick. Turns out, according to the Dairy Queen website allergens information, there is milk in the Julius drinks which means they are NOT dairy free. That was $5 wasted and I ended up getting sick... I appreciate the staff trying to be helpful, but maybe be sure before messing with people's allergies. read more

Will not be going back to this Dairy Queen ever! Went there yesterday with my great nephew who is autistic and tends to make many spills while eating. He loves Hot Fudge Sundaes. I ordered a large Sundae for him and asked for it to be put in a tall container rather than the traditional shallow container. The young lady passed that request on to the workers making it. A male made the sundae and sat it on the shelf in the traditional shallow container. He spilled some of the ice cream on the counter as he attempted to hand the Sundae to me and I reminded him of my request and told him I wanted a tall container to avoid that very thing while my nephew was eating it. The worker got an attitude and threw the Sundae in the trash and with an attitude started to make another one. A female came out and told me they couldn't put the Sundae in another container but they could give me the container and I would have to put it in there myself. I told her about his attitude and asked for his name. She said they can't give names but she would talk to him. She then hastily walked away without even apologizing for his actions. Most people would think it's silly to review Dairy Queen, but why not? It's a business isn't it? I love going there, especially during the summer. I can thank them for the added pounds I've accumulated over the years, but I'm not complaining too much. It was a joy doing so. We always bring our dog with, because they always offer a doggy cone. The one in Schererville does not do that, so we often patron the Dairy Queen in Munster. So far, even with our birthday cake orders, they've been very accommodating when we ask for all sorts of things in or on our cakes. We like to experiment with coming up with different flavors of milkshakes and they've always done it with a smile. The only complaint I have is on those hot summer nights when the drive thru is just crazy, but that's okay. The more business, the more chances this place will not close down. read more

On 2/26/14 at 7:30 PM I went to my neighborhood DQ for the very last time. I grew up here and going to the DQ was part of my childhood. So, now my kids get to go here! Well, the only positive thing I can say is the inside is clean and the ice cream is good! The service tonight was horrible. I can never go back!!! My daughter and her 2 friends (ages 13 and 14) and my 9 year old son. We were greeted with a roll of the eyes and no eye contact. We ordered promptly and all she said was the total and if you are going to eat here-don't stand on the furniture?! There were 2 other employees one was glaring at us in the background? We though that was odd. It wasn't close to closing-why were they being so rude to us. I seriously wanted to walk out. I was very uncomfortable but my kids (luckily) didn't notice. I needed to get something to go and the third employee took my order-she was overly nice and was trying to compensate for the others' rudeness. Sad to say, I will not go back.
