Such a great place to shop for Japanese food and beverages. Lots of variety and such great deals too. I picked up a few packs of dried soba noodles, a couple boxes of Japanese curry to cook our dinner, and a couple bottles of latte to bring home and put in the fridge for the family. Everything I bought was on sale. This place is right next door to Kim's Mart and while one sells Korean foods, and the other sells Japanese, my understanding is that both places are owned by the same people. It does feel like there's a lot of overlap between the two places...like they sell a lot of the same stuff for the same prices. There's no fresh produce here at Sakuraya though. It's mostly non perishable stuff. Please keep this place around...forever! We love this place!

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. Definitely came across items I've never seen before like a Takoyaki flavored Ramune. It was extremely discounted just fyi probably for good reason. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience. Checkout was quick and easy!

Service is cheerful, personable and brisk. The store also houses a takeaway crepe and ice cream shop - the crepes are actually better than the ones I've had in Tokyo.

It's huge, has a whole bakery, hot foods, cosmetic, and various other departments. Obviously to compare that location - set in the residential area, to this one - set in the city, would be unfair. T&T at this location does a good job at having enough of its well known items - fresh produce, meats, prepared foods, baked items, cosmetics, and beverages. All in all, it's a great location with its proximity to downtown Vancouver, Chinatown, the Stadium, and my favorite - Costco. Wishing it continued success.

Everyone was generally very polite and considerate of everyone around though, which was nice and honestly not very common in American markets. I really appreciated their seafood display. They also had a great variety. Langostino was a really unique item to have at the fish counter! I was absolutely blown away by the pre-made food section. The presentation on their pre-made food made me feel like I was transported to a night market! There were almost too many things to look at.

I had tried Kimchi Onigiri earlier this year from Market Ribbon and I absolutely loved it. This one from Kim's Mart wasn't bad but personally, I prefer the one from Market Ribbon. The flavor from that one tastes better somehow. The Onigiri here are better when purchased directly from the Zenya food stall in International Village, but for a quick, affordable and cold bite to eat on a hot summer's day, 2 for $3.98 is pretty hard to beat!

The cashier didn't even apologize for the inaccurate pricing, honour it, or seem to change the price tag. It might be still cheap, but I hate being lied to, so I didn't buy it. Not coming back again! I don't care if it's cheaper than H mart! This will be the very first and very last time I come here. If you do decide to come, remember to check your receipt.
