I was attracted on the basis of the numerous good reviews, altho the place looked a bit divey from the outside. There's a fast-food vibe ambience but the food isn't quick; I waited about 20 minutes for my food after I placed my order on the touchscreen at the counter. I'm not sure it was worth the wait. I got the "Chicken Bites Pile Rice" which was comprised of several crisp pieces of fried chicken thigh meat over rice strewn with radish, shrettuce, and julienned egg omelette. That in itself was fine - however the spicy mayo topping was excessive. It liberally covered the chicken plus there were generous lashings of the mayo underneath it. I tried scraping it off with a wooden spoon with limited success. "Medium" level of spice worked well for me. If there's a next time, I'd order it with the sauce on the side. read more

I had walked by Frying Pan Express several times before, intrigued by the menu, but never bothered trying it until recently. I ordered a chicken burger with fries and a drink, and loved it! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the fries were freshly made. The restaurant had lots of seats inside and friendly staff as well. read more

Im surprised by all the 5star reviews. This is not a 5-star place. There are some glaring problems, but also some good points. I came in on a Sunday night, got a chicken sandwich + fries + drink combo for takeout. (i ate it about 5 mins later so it's not as if I let it sit in the bag for an hour to let it get soggy etc). The place was not busy, let's be clear. There were 2 customers in line ahead of me, and 2 already seated, waiting for their food. That's it. There was one girl taking orders at the counter, an older guy and older lady in the back preparing the food. The girl taking orders was super nice and friendly, but very slow. no joke, SLOW. The 2 ppl in the back making food were just standing around - presumably waiting for the orders to come in? This place sells various forms of fried chicken that they advertise as "korean style nashville hot chicken" or something along those lines. They have some korean-style items. Noticeably absent are actual pieces of fried chicken for sale - only tenders, burgers, etc. Their chicken sandwich has one piece of fried chicken breast. Comes with a sauce and slaw, and your choice of spicy mayo (choose the spicy level). I chose the hottest level "fire." If you like real nashville hot chicken and you like it hot, you have to get fire, which equates to a medium or slightly hotter. Its a nice level of heat for me, slow burn, and provides the nashville hot chicken flavours. The bun is ok. The slaw is ok. The chicken itself is the disappointment - there wasnt much of a breading or battery, and the chicken itself was just slightly overcooked and slightly dry. All they had to do was cook it a bit less. Maybe a thicker breading would have kept it a bit more moist too. 3/5. Fries - lightly battered, crispy when it comes out, if you like this style. I prefer double or triple fried fries instead of battered fries personally, but these arent bad. 3.5/5. I picked a canned drink. Not much to say about that. Restaurant is clean. Its right on Lonsdale and 15th next to the Blenz coffee - a little nondescript of a spot. Ive walked by it many times and rarely notice it. Overall, food is good, not great, could use some fine tuning. Service is just unreasonably too slow. Yes I am aware they cook things to order. That's great. But why does it take forever to take orders? Especially when the restaurant isnt even busy. Why do you leave a lineup of people waiting to order while there are 2 people doing nothing standing at the back? How on earth do you manage your wait times when the restaurant is actually busy? Kudos to the girl who packed my takeout order - she put in some ketchup packets and small hard candies. Overall I think they are a solid 3.5/5. Theyre not 4/5 level, but better than 3/5. I would actually come back to try other stuff - there isnt much else around here for fried chicken anyway. read more

Good thing I came in early morning I dodged the busy rush like a pro! The staff were super friendly, all smiles and good vibes, which made the visit even better. I ordered the spicy chicken and waffles, and honestly, I think I fell a little in love. The chicken had that perfect crunch and kick, and the waffles were so fluffy they could've floated off the plate. The sweet butter it came with? Dangerous. I could've eaten a whole tub of that stuff. Maple syrup + vanilla butter was the perfect topping to go with waffles and the salty and spicy chicken. The tenders were actually very TENDER even though it was breast meat. Really appreciated how the breading was very thin and flavourful. The poutine was MASSIVE with plenty of pulled chicken, cheese and of course, mounds of fries! Finally got to try this spot and was immediately impressed with the customer service. It seemed like the owner, but whoever it may be, they were extremely helpful to the guests infront of us and patient with us as it was our first time there - helpful and accommodating with choices as well! The chicken was hot, crispy and extremely well seasoned, so flavourful! I would definitely recommend the chicken bites (juiciest thigh meat ever). Having options for spice is also super nice, the hot is the perfect amount of heat and so well balanced with flavour. Strips were great too! 10/10 recommend every time, i go to frying pan a fair amount and they haven't seemed to screw up once. Every time i go there it leaves me wanting more, half the time i go i cant even finish my food just because of the sheer amount the give you. Some people say its over priced but for 30 bucks you can get a huge platter of fries that you can never fully finish + food that always fills you to the brim and a lemonade, im just saying if i wanna get extremely full without going and blowing all my money i go frying pan and its so good everytime. service is also great they are always attentive to your needs and extra sauce and other stuff is always free! read more

We just arrived in Vancouver late the night before so this was our first dinner outing. We wanted something close to our airbnb so we could experience the wonderful views. The walk was definitely an adventure but the food was work the tedious climb!! Once we arrived there was only one other patron in the restaurant. We were greeted and shown a menu at the counter with photos. We had already looked on Yelp so we did not need to look again. We ordered a chicken thigh sandwich (no spice) with sweet potato fries, a chicken sandwich (hot spice level) with regular fries, chicken bites and waffles, a lemonade, an orangeade, and 2 banana shakes. Everything was wonderful!! The chicken bites were made up thigh meat and incredible seasoning! The waffles were soft and not soggy! The honey butter was amazing along with the "spicy" sauce for the bites. The spicy sauce had enough kick to let you know it's there but nothing overwhelming! This is my new favorite halal restaurant in Vancouver. We got chicken bite, chicken and waffles, pulled chicken poutine and bulgogi bowl... that's right, they sell bulgogi too. I wasn't really expecting it, but it was good. However, the star of the show was the pulled chicken poutine! I definitely recommend this place, especially if you only eat halal meat. read more
