We tried many donuts from cream pony and my favourites are the: - apple fritter: I will say though that we bought two apple fritters at the same time and I think they were from different batches because one was nice and crispy while the other was more pillowy soft. We liked the more dense crispy one better. - homer donut: a slight touch of strawberry and fun sprinkles! - honey glazed: can't go wrong, fluffy but not super fluffy I also tried: - the maple glazed - chocolate dip - strawberry filled - boston creme - chocolate glazed and these were good but not as memorable! Whole some, old fashioned* recipe tasting with a modern take... Friends shared some of these donuts with me and they are wholesome tasting. Old fashioned to me, are donuts that taste like there is more milk and eggs in the batter. The base is very filling and more dense- almost cake batter like. Who doesn't love donuts or fried chicken? Cream pony is really the best of both worlds. We happened to go there after the Christmas Market at the Shipyards. It was a welcoming and cosy space. We had their Lunch Bag Special $17.50 . It came a fried chicken sandwich, your choice of donut and either lemonade or sweet tea. The sandwich was sooooo perfect! Never would of discovered this place - until a friend suggested to go here while we were checking out the Christmas market nearby. Wasn't able to try the sweet donuts this time - However, the chicken burger was so delicious for something that looks so simple and basic. Chicken was melt away tender, could definitely have improved the batter volume a tad though , as it lacked some much needed crunch. Knowing about the location opening on Main St in Vancouver, when I happened to see sign for Cream Pony on Lonsdale (and Lolo Lane), I wanted to give it try. Not so unexpected, it's a cute pink dominant space. I wasn't very hungry, so decided to share a 2 piece combo and two donuts with my family. As we placed an order, my kids were happy to see plenty of donut samples to try. My thoughts: - Donuts: Good. We tried the chocolate cake and jelly bomb, both which were good, but fighting a lot of local competition with equally good donuts. - Fried Chicken: Good. Very juicy meat and crispy skin. Did take longer than the 15 min posted. - Fried Pickles: My daughter liked them but I didn't. I found them too sour, and the skin was difficult to bite through - Sweet Tea: Good. Mostly tea, with a touch of sweetness, which is refreshing. The real stand out experience was the service. One of the owners was on staff, and she was absolutely great. She knew her regular visitors, and took extra time to check on them. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. All more than expected for a fried chicken and donut spot. I mean... with a name like Cream Pony, how can you not? Yes, the name drew us in... but it was also recommended to us by some friends. Disappoint... it did not. We only tried their donuts cause we just ate but they offer fried chicken as well which I'm sure goes well with anything sweet. We just went with a 6-pack so we could test out some different flavors. Definitely creative names but the flavors reflected it as well. I'm a fritter guy so had to grab one of those but I enjoyed all of them. Really good donuts! The storefront is in an alleyway. You gotta park on the street and in this area it can be difficult at busy times. We had to circle a couple times but eventually got lucky with someone leaving. Hoping for a nice sweet treat, my partner and I decided to stop by cream pony to try out some donuts. This place is tucked away in an alley so it may be a little hard to find, but once you're there you are hit with a very fun aesthetic and though we didn't try any of their hot foods, we got two donuts. We got a glazed donut and a pink sprinkle one as well. To be honest, these donuts were pretty normal. They weren't anything special, but the hot foods did sound very appetizing. I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were fully stocked with all of the flavours. My family and I ended up getting a Boston cream, honey maple, and mini donuts to share. The chicken smelled delicious and they even had beyond meat vegan chicken but we were too full for that so just got the donuts. The space is super cute but there's not a lot of seating so it fills up pretty quick! We were lucky to snag a table in the corner but the place was full afterwards. As for the donuts, they tasted fresh and I liked the flavours but they're definitely more on the light cakey side, whereas I usually like mine a bit more chewy - but that's just personal preference. I also noticed that their pricing is a bit weird because 1 donut is $3.35, half a dozen is $20 (only 10 cents cheaper than buying 6 individual ones) and a dozen is $36. The staff was super patient and took the time to explain the flavours and we never felt rushed when ordering which was appreciated! Overall I would recommend this place if you're in the area and in the mood for a donut but I wouldn't make the trip out there for it. read more

No wonder cream poney has 4.5 on Google! They are located in a back alley in Lower Lonsdale and they serve delicious and fresh doughnuts and fried chicken The doughnuts exceeded my expectations! Even though we went at 3pm the doughnuts were still fresh and weren't too sweet. My favourite was the maple doughnut The fried chicken sandwich had a really soft bun and was loaded with sauce. We came on a Saturday to pick up some donuts. We got the one with the chicken foot and the one with the jelly inside. The service was really nice and fast. There isn't much seating but there is a patio on the outside that is available as well which is nice. This place is really nicely decorated I would give this place a 3.5/5 based on the 2 donuts that I had. The one with the chicken foot on top was a little too sweet for me because of the icing on top. The dough was very soft and fluffy. The jelly bomb was filled to the brim with jelly. I love jelly donuts but this one didn't make it onto my top 3 jelly donuts list. Unfortunately the donuts were a bit disappointing to me (probably because I had overhyped these). That being said I would go back and try the fried chicken as it looked and smelled amazing. The store front is located in an alleyway, but they have a hipster vibe with super cute decor. Honestly, terrazzo stone/print and the colour scheme is my absolute favorite combo. I came by on a Saturday afternoon, and there were waves of customers. I got a chicken sandwich ( they told me the hot Nash was real spicy, so I opted for a no-spice original) and half a dozen of their best donuts. I let them choose and expected to see some more unique donuts but got some more plain Jane ones. Not even a crueller ! But the package and other flavors were still great. They did have 5 dollar day old grab bags, but you couldn't see what was inside. The sandwich survived a 20 min drive home , and with a but of warming up, it was still juicy and somewhat crispy. I love a good chicken sandwich, but at first bite, I knew I should have tried the hot Nash or even the medium spice version. The levels are OG (no spice), Cajun ( medium), and hot Nash (hot). The food is not mind-blowing but definitely more of a 'for the gram' spot. Pricing adjusted the rating a bit. Would go again to try other donut flavors and the sandwiches! read more

If you like denser, cake-like donuts, this is ideal as it's not overcooked or too greasy. The icing is perfect. - chicken feet donut - A catchy name. It's a plain donut with not-too-sweet coloured icing with a gummy candy chicken foot. The donut is soft on the inside. - Jelly Donut - plain donut covered in sugar with not-so-sweet raspberry filling. Overall, donuts are fresh tasting without being too greasy. Well hottttt dayuuuuummm I went to Nashville today! I came for the donuts but fell in love with the chicken sandwich!!! Cream Pony caught my eye with their cute looking donuts on IG & via my news thread. I have several 'must go to for donuts' hotspots located in downtown Vancouver. I can always get my donut fixins there & usually I'm 100% satisfied. So I must admit that it would be hard for me to grade these donuts here at Cream Pony without severe prejudice! I only tried one donut, a vanilla choclate ring & the jury is still out on how it was!?! However, my Nashville Chicken Sando was a hot fiyaaaaaaa in my mouth ... & I loved it!!! Took a taste bite of the OG sandwich & that was quite tasty as well, I do say! Yelpies it's a little tricky to get here so use the Google! When coming up towards 1st Ave on Lonsdale Ave, it's the alley right before 1st Ave called Lolo Lane! Please note that there is no visable sign saying - Lolo Lane! Yelpies if you want donuts, preorder them as they were selling like hotcakes while I was waiting in line!!! Otherwise come down for the chicken sandos as they are awesome!!! CP is an easy 10min walk from the Lonsdale Quay seabus terminal. Ordered the 4 piece OG chicken. It's great when eaten hot and fresh. Both my aunt and mom loved it. My aunt loves their corn bread, it was meh, I can make a better one. Buuut. I think if they started having hot honey as one of their options for their chicken and cornbread, it would be delicious! I got three donuts as well, the chicken feet, cream pony and jelly bomb. I really enjoyed checking this place out. Fried chicken, donuts and coffee are a surprisingly good combo. You can even get a fried chicken sandwich using donuts which I found out about from the couple sitting next to us. We got the 2 piece spicy chicken, which was cooked well and juicy though the thigh and drumstick could have used more salt and flavor. Still good tho! Donuts and drip coffee was $5 which I thought was a good deal. We tried the apple fritter first which was fine - a bit doughy... but the lemon donut was delish. This was super soft with just the right balance of textures, sweetness, filling to donut and probably the best lemon donut I've had! Chicken and coffee are both made to order so there is a little bit of a wait (10-15 min) but there are some nice tables to sit and enjoy while you wait. read more

Donuts and Fried Chicken! This hidden gem can be found in the laneway street between Lolo Lane and 1st Street. They offer brioche donuts and Southern fried chicken. I came in at 1pm and majority of the donuts were sold out I got the Lemon Poppy donut and salted caramel donut ($3.50 each) The donuts tasted fresh and light. The donut itself are slightly smaller compared to other donut shops. They offer interesting flavors like the Mango tajin and the Blueberry Bourbon Basil! Super cute shop with a pink aesthetic. My group got one of each donut in the display case to try, and my favorite was the classic pink pony donut and the donut holes. We also tried the lavender frosted donut, but it had no lavender flavor at all. Somehow it made it onto my radar and I made the trip out here. Donuts and chicken! What a concept. The donuts are the upscale fancy ones. Much like Lucky's and Cartems. You need to give these a try. Pricing is comparable. $3.50 a donut the day I came. The ones I liked the most? Honey sea salt and maple bacon. See my pics. Chicken. Buttermilk. 6 pieces. Wings. Drums. Breast. Thigh. The breast was surprisingly moist. Not dry at all. Chicken is on the pricey side. Donuts were not sold out when I got here ~12:15 on a Saturday. Parking readily available on streets. I ordered 3 dozen donuts (2 dozen of them custom!) on two days notice, and Cream Pony came through. I won't be ordering cupcakes for kids parties anymore, I am now a donut convert - for the kiddos I ordered their "pink pony" donut but with blue icing instead, and the kids LOVED them. The parents (including myself and my husband) were equally thrilled with the dozen assorted "grown up" donuts. Super simple for a party, no cutting of cake or kids only eating the icing on a cupcake. After the party a few parents even reached out and asked where the donuts were from as they wanted to go get more. Would definitely recommend for an easy party dessert (or a day trip out, its super close to the Museum of North Van and the Londsdale Quay). read more

What a cute little local spot!! I have had always heard that this was a must visit spot in Lower Lonsdale, as I am now on the North Shore daily. This place is tucked down a dark grey alley and as you walk into it, you see a lovely pink mural on the left side and your curiosity flows. As I slowly walked towards it, you can hear the cheerful music coming from the establishment, and you know it will be a FUN and WONDERFUL place. I loved how inside was just PINK, everything is PINK. Even some of the donuts they have are just oozing PINK. The little café was just cute, cuddly, and welcoming. As a person who doesn't mind this much energy from the establishment, I surely embraced it and started to order food so I can have lunch. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich, regular with no spice on it as I was going back to work that day, and on top of that had a meeting later in the evening with a friend. And I chose to do their combo as a choice of drink and a donut came with it. I chose the Caramel donut, and a lemonade as the drink. It wasn't that bad of a price with it as well. It was the perfect amount of food for lunch and a small treat of a donut too! Loved it. The service was friendly as the person who took the order would explain everything and was extremely nice as well. She had a smile on and would purposely bring my food to my table for me. LOVE this cute little place on LoLo! We were introduced by a friend and so impressed and we decided to check it out by ourselves! The place is literally in the alley but once you're there, you're transformed to somewhere else where you can only eat all of the deliciousness offered The donuts are top notch! My Mom is a baker and she's very particular when it comes to donuts. Their donuts definitely ticked all the right boxes for her. The yeast donut is perfectly rise, soft and pillowy. The filled donuts with their homemade preserves are delicious without being too sweet. Their version of Boston cream has creamy custard filling, perfect with the decadent chocolate glaze. We decided to try their nuggies (chicken nuggets) that came with the dip. The cajun was a bit too unfamiliar for my taste to enjoy but the garlic mayo dip was really good! We ended up ordering some more to take home and had it for dinner! Don't forget to order their adult version of tater tots as they are so wonderfully crispy on the outside and creamy and fluffy on the inside. I am salivating as I wrote this. This got to be the most whimsical donut shop out there! From the the beautiful soft pink walls to the playful pendant lights, artsy tables, and spring pony, everything just spells dreamy! It was such an indulgence to visit Cream Pony this weekend and we were really fortunate to catch this place on a beautiful quieter time with the afternoon sun sneaking in. I'm a sucker for thick, rich icing donuts and the maple one is a winner. Similar to a Tim's maple glaze but sooooo much better! I loved how they offered bags of 10 donut holes for the same price, all $3.10 incl tax. The holes were perfect for the kids to munch on, but great for anyone really. With a palette of pastel pink and turquoise, elegant pendant lights, and whimsical accents (tastefully kitschy?), Cream Pony serves some stellar eats and treats with a schmear of laid-back friendliness. The coffee and donuts are executed meticulously, yet you don't feel cornered in a persnickety laboratory. Yeast donuts are airy and fluffy; cake donuts are moist with an addictive, almost-crunchy crust. While the glazes and flavors taste as advertised and strike a balance between familiar and foreign, I would have actually welcomed a little more edge: a more pronounced citrus in the lemon poppyseed, for example, or even some kimchi funk or savory meatiness in the Korean creation. Don't get me wrong: there's plenty of glitter on this pony; I just want it to sparkle more. We live close by and saw this place opened up. We decided to check it out to see what the hype was all about. Well, we were NOT disappointed! Cream Pony has one of THE BEST chicken sandwiches. Hands down! I had the OG chicken sandwich and my better half had the spicy - both were amazing. The chicken was tasty, not too salty, a good portion and not greasy. The pickles were spot on and not too sweet. I've had other chicken sandwiches and the pickles throw it off because they are either too sweet or salty. Cream Pony has found a great balance If you are in LoLo and looking for a brunch lunch or snack you have to try Cream Pony! Oh and they have amazing donuts too. I really like places that setup shop in out of the way locations and still make a splash. Cream Pony is in an alley off of Lonsdale and serves both fried chicken AND donuts (and coffee). If they served locally made ice cream I think they basically cover all the food groups, right? Cool space, very well built and popular. Is it good? The donuts are approaching par with the big guns: Cartems and Parallel 49. A fewinteresting flavours and like $3.50 which is standard. The chicken is overpriced. Yes, good ingredients cost but $8.50 for 2 small pieces NO sides... by far the most expensive chicken I've ever eaten. Is the chicken good? Yes, probably top 25 percentile in Vancouver, but not the best and not worth going out of your way for. I'm not 'that' cheap but I need to feel value is there and why I can't give it 4 when I know Roost and Juke exist.
