My husband had rather difficult prescriptions to fill, and they were able to fill them correctly and order more and make sure that he always has the medications he needs. I have to say, during this whole crazy experience of COVID social distancing, Fry's has really come through for me. They were already my favorite grocery store, but now being able to shop online and pick up my groceries has really helped me feel safe during this experience. I am able to get the groceries I need, specifically produce and bread, while feeling very safe. I place my online order, select the date and time slot I want to pickup, and I have until 11:59 the day before to make changes to my order or add things. I usually just put the things I definitely need in my cart and checkout a few days before. That way, I can add the random things I need as the week continues. A bit before I pickup my order, they usually send me an email telling me there are things they can substitute (if they're out) and things they just can't fulfill, which is not usually much. They don't charge my card until they fulfill the order and I'm pretty much on my way. I pull up to the parking spots, open my trunk, and just wait. They come and put the items in my trunk, close the trunk, and I'm off. I don't even have to get out of my car. Talk about social distancing gone right. I'd highly recommend this location and their clicklist. read more

I reviewed this business some time ago and was pretty critical of how the quality had deteriorated. However over the past year it has improved markedly. In the produce area, it usually has good prices and quality - I get all of my berries there. I've even been able to occasionally get maradol papayas that are decent, which is quite rare. The bakery section is also very good, and a pretty good selection in dairy as well. Dry goods are hit or miss for me - sometimes they are the only place that has what I'm looking for, but other times they are the only ones that DON'T have something. Personal items are also well priced and I almost always find what I'm looking for. The only areas that could use some attention are the deli and the seafood area. The latter is tough, I have yet to find anyone with consistently good seafood in this area, but then we are in the desert! read more

This review reflects my experience today while purchasing Snowfox sushi from the deli department at Fry's Marketplace. I normally never buy sushi from a grocery store but was looking for an easy dinner for my family since I have a broken foot. I picked out two sushi rolls and one other item and headed to check out. Joe was my cashier and was friendly and efficient, as usual. I left the store and was unlocking my car when I was aggressively approached by the lady working at the sushi stand. She demanded to see my receipt...which I showed her. Then she said...this receipt is not from today. But, actually...yes, it is lady. So this woman chased me to my car, falsely accused me of stealing and then did not apologize or offer any explanation. I was polite to her throughout the experience and asked why she targeted me. She walked away confused and perhaps looking for another shopper to harass. I did call the store afterwards and the manager I spoke with was very nice. I will definitely never purchase anything from Snowfox sushi...and I'm hesitant to go to Fry's Marketplace again. read more

I have to ASK for six packs of cans to bagged so I can carry them from my car to my house? I should check every tag and sniff every item after using a service that is supposed to be convenient so I don't have to go into the store? This is a joke, right? I really wish this Fry's was better. It's so convenient to stop here in the morning after dropping my daughter at school. But, it generally leaves me wishing I'd just driven a bit farther to Safeway or anywhere else. First off, the parking is ridiculous!! More than half the spaces in the front lot of the main entrance are either handicapped, employee of the month, outdated carpool spots (I drive electric), or cart returns. There are honestly multiple lanes with cart returns directly across from each other in the same lane. I have no problem walking, but when you're trying to make a quick pop-in, it's annoying to see so many spaces unavailable to customers. Checking out is just as frustrating. They consistently only have one lane open besides the self-check outs. The one lane usually has a considerable line of people with full carts, so I'm basically forced to use self check out every time. Today, for example, I had about a half a dozen items. There were four or five customers with substantially full carts waiting in the one cashier lane. I used self-check out, with the machine unhappy and calling for attendant twice. Meanwhile, (per usual) there were four employees standing around at the self-check attendant desk chatting and laughing it up with each other, to the point where I had to interject to get someone's attention to help. I have tried complaining to a manager before about the checkout situation. He just shrugged and said it wasn't profitable to have more lanes open. (I just wonder what all the employees standing around chatting are being paid to do??!!!) I really just need to start driving to Safeway where they care about customer service. This place leaves a bad taste in your mouth to see how little consideration they have for their customers! read more

I go to this Fry's mostly because it has a gas station in the parking lot. This Fry's has gone through a few changes and is slowly creeping toward looking more like a Walmart. It has a clothing section, a big makeup section, a toy section, it is very Walmart with a Fry's twist-esq. Bought one item and asked the cashier if my VIP card had gone through via alternate ID (even though it was not on sale I still wanted to 20 gas points) and she said it had, I get done paying and get my receipt and wouldn't you know... it hadn't. After placing an order a week in advance the day of pick up I get a call they are behind an hour, which is fine, then I get there when they changed the time and was out on hold for 30Min sitting in the pickup location to be then tiled their systems crashed this morning and they are not doing pick any more. This is one of two Fry's within about half of mile of each other - one on the north side of Mountain View, and the other on the south side. One is a Fry's Signature Market, and the other is a Fry's Marketplace. Apparently they were owned by two different companies before Kroger bought them out and turned both of them into Fry's. I prefer this one simply because it is a little better organized, and has a wider variety of general merchandise. They have a fairly good selection of wines and alcoholic beverages, although their selection isn't as good as AJ's. They do have a fair amount of natural and organic items and their vegetables and fruits are very good. They have a nice little deli, with varying priced meats and cheeses. Also, the store doesn't seem as cramped as the other one, and the merchandise doesn't seem to be as crammed into each nook and cranny. This may be simply a matter of the size of the store, but it does make shopping a lot easier and relaxing. The clerks are generally pleasant, and helpful, although sometimes a little rushed. Apparently Fry's is on a cost cutting campaign, and of course, the first thing they cut back on is help. But the workers really make an effort to help the customers, and we appreciate that. I do go to AJ's for specialty items and their beer and wine selection. However, for every day shopping, this is the place to go. read more

I am generally a fan of Fry's based upon comparison shopping for the things I buy. This review is specific to those things that make this story different. First, it's layout is more intuitive than most - things just seem to appear where you would expect them. Shelves are almost always well-stocked, checkout is fast, and there are a lot of useful non-food items. Negatives are a lack of a large ethnic and Kosher areas, and a disturbuing willingness of the produce department to leave substandard fruits and vegetables on the shelves -- I don't want to have to inspect every green bean. When produce nears the end of its life, it should be discarded, not reduced in price, or worse yet packaged so that its less agreeable parts are hidden. read more

I went to Frys in the late afternoon with a sleeping toddler. When he woke up and we went into the store, he was GRUMP-Y! This is not usually my M.O. And I can count on one hand how many times my now three year old has had a public melt down. He had to use the restroom, where the tantrum over not having a "car" cart continued as he did his business, in between sobs he managed to say "Mommy! I want a car cart!!" An employee of the store happened to be in the bathroom, and have me a sympathetic look and left. After talking my son off of the proverbial ledge with a promise of a stroll through the toy aisle, he finally ceased the sobs and soldiered on. As we exited the bathroom there was the store manager, waiting for us, with a car cart for my traumatized son. Never in a million years would I have thought I would be so relieved to see such an mundane object. My son immediately perked up, gave her a big hug, a thank you and she was off. This is outstanding customer service. Besides, I later got milk on sale for $1/gal and then scored Junior a toy on clearance for $5. This is a great store that will always have me (and hopefully a happier tot next time) as customers. read more

Don't tell anyone but since they carry electronics and video game accessories that no one goes to Fry's to purchase they always have a good selection of discounted items. This is my second time going to this Fry's - and I will never return. Their employee Ryan was a smug, jerk for no reason. I asked him if they carried Omission beer and he said he didn't know. I asked if maybe he could find out and he just stared at me. After he asked someone on the radio, he looked at me and said "did you look if we had it?" Now, obviously I wouldn't waste my time talking to a rude person like himself, if I hadn't already looked for it to no avail. I told him "you're making me uncomfortable - don't worry about it" to which he replied "even better!" Rolling his eyes as he pranced off. While I can't say I fancy any store that requires a tracking card to participate in weekly sales I have to say I really like Fry's for the Manager's Special items in home and garden, a section where the discerning eye can easily save up to 75% off the retail price for odds n' ends around the house.
