Then the manager then harassed our group when the two pulled their kayaks up through a different "end point", and transported them to their facility. (To pick up the rest of our people). 10/10 times I do not recommend. The staff is terrible. The manager was rude and irrational. 600$ spent for a horrible experience. If you plan on kayaking the Little Miami....it would be a good idea to look for a different rental company or buy a cheap kayak. There are several places to launch and dock without using this service.

We went on the 3-5hr(equates to ~5miles) which takes you by van from South Lebanon to Morrow. Perfect day and current for this adventure. If you paddle to the back of the lake on the campground side, the creek is gorgeous. There's a ton of wildlife like herons, turtles, eagles, and all sorts of fish for catch and release. The campground hosts several events throughout the season and has electric and non-electric but no full hook up. The camp store has everything you may need. Hike on one of the many clean trails or try a round of disc golf, it's a brand new trail and impressive!

Nice parking since there are ball fields. I like to jet off the path just past the wooded area about 1.3 miles into the route. It will take you to a walkway to the river. Nice peaceful and such a nice sound of the river flowing. Usually not too crowded. Just keep to the right all the times. Please do enjoy.

Along the way is another parking area where you can bring your kayak to put in and travel 3+ miles up and down a hibiscus laden stream. You'll be visited by at least one blue heron along the way. If you travel up as far as the dam, be careful not to be sucked under the wall ( just kidding) but the current is fun to play in. The current can be inconsistent because one day it was difficult to paddle toward the dam and another day we paddled up and down the stream from the put in.

It's a huge packed area with few trees, borders hard to discern and tightly packed. I would recommend getting a spot on one the little dead ends with trees and not 1,000 people. The area the park has on the lake is not very appealing tbh. The nature center was a good diversion and they also had movie night and mid day crafts available at the pavilion. I'd give those a 5*.

My family and I have camped at Cowan Lake State Park twice now and will definitely be back for more…read moreoutdoor adventures. The campsites are a good size and are all in the woods, which we prefer. The bathrooms are super simple, but the women's restrooms are impressively clean. My husband did say that the men's restrooms were pretty much unusable though. I have not used the showers, so I can't speak to those. The price is good and I am happy to support a state park. We also haven't gone down to the lake or used any of the other park amenities yet, but look forward to trying them out. Each campsite has a firing and a picnic table and a paved driveway, perfect for our truck top tent. My only complaint so far is that the last time we stayed, there was a dog who truly barked without ceasing the entire time, with the exception of quiet hours because it was taken inside to sleep. I understand the dogs are allowed in the campground and that they bark, but we weren't able to relax, and the campground wasn't peaceful because the barking was that bad. I do wish there was some sort of policy for this. However, this won't deter us from coming back because I do believe it was a coincidence.

It is also great for walking and fantastic for walking dogs because there is a lot of field and many people walk their dogs out here. You have very nice views of the river! It is a great way to get some exercise and it's also a great way to wind down after a long week and clear your head! This is my first visit here and I did the entire bike ride. Next time, I will bring my dog to walk with me! I'm so glad I found this paved bike trail!

I found it challenging to know where the trail went at times as the leaves are covering it deeper into the woods. Going in I didn't see the one marker I passed coming out. It was peaceful and cool walking. I went around 1 mile which is not the whole trail, but with it getting darker and no familiarity I wasn't confident going forward. Lots of up and downs, over a creek (what there is with the drought) over fallen trees. I'll be back!

This is a great nature preserve. It's really impressive the amount of work that's been put into…read morehelp with the recovery from the 1999 tornado that destroyed part of it. At the entrance, there is a small parking lot and a pergola with places to sit, followed by the trailhead that lets you wind through the woods and view flowers and a stream. In the front section is a little nature trail that has various pictures of birds, flowers, and more and talks about what can be found in the area. As you come to a small loop just past a bridge, you then enter a section with a plaque for "Hazelwood Botanical Preserve," which is a registered natural landmark. This area also offers a loop trail, with nice signage to help you follow the trail. There are a lot of neat natural features to see. The trail is a little rougher than the front section, and it was nice to get a little extra work in. Wonderful resource; I'm so glad it's been saved.
