My insurance company was giving a lot of referrals but non of them were working out for one reason or another. One turned out to be deep in the Ghetto! Nothing against people that have to live in such places or even the very nice staff that worked there but.....it was like something out of a really bad movie. A scary, violent movie. So....I searched for another week and stumbled on Gardena Family Dental here on yelp. I was still worried about what I was going to find after past experiences here in Los Angeles. As you can see by my "Rating", those fears have been crushed by this dental office location, staff, cleanliness and the amount of time the dentist took with me and all my (many) questions. This was the third dentist I have seen in about six months. The first two insisted I needed surgery, the second one said I had cavities. The dentist I saw today at Gardena Family Dental said that not only did all my teeth look okay but that I looked in great health as well. Now I have the feeling that the first two dentist were looking to make a quick buck and Gardena Family Dental was just calling it as they saw it. The best things about Gardena Family Dental: 1. Easy to get to. 2. Easy parking. 3, Easy setting appointment and initial paperwork. 4. Short wait to be seen by doctor. 5. Doctor explained clearly and fully, what she found/didn't find. 6. Doctor answered all of my questions and didn't rush any part of the examination or consultation. I definitely will return!

I chose to return to his office because of the trust I have in his expertise. Before coming back, I consulted two dentists closer to my new location. One said the procedure could not be done and recommended a root canl specialist, while the other explained that the treatment would be too complex and would require three separate visits. Dr. Stephen Hiroshige carefully evaluated my case and personally completed the root canal treatment. The entire procedure was virtually painless, and I felt completely at ease throughout. While the drive was long, it was absolutely worth it. Dr. Stephen Hiroshige is a highly skilled, professional, and trustworthy dentist, and I would confidently recommed him to anyone in need of excellent dental care.

Dr. Hiroshige is the dentist to go to in Gardena and the South Bay!!!!!! Parking is super convenient and he has all the latest technology. The XRay tech was super nice and made sure I was comfortable with my X Rays. They took both an XRay and a 3D photo of my bite. Luckily I had no cavities but i needed a very deep cleaning! Dr. Grace worked on my teeth for a good hour. She took her time and was plugging that tartar away from my teeth. Im so grateful for her and her expertise! After the cleaning Dr. Stephen explained my crowded teeth and the consequences if it was not fixed. I took the advice and am getting them corrected. Overall super happy I found a new dentist!

Both of them asked who the dentist was that performed the work. I gladly told them about his work. The Dr. is a legend in my book. Also, I used to see him once a year, a year later he would remember what we were talking about, names, plans for the future, etc. Whether he is thoughtful enough to write it down or has an amazing memory, I am not certain, either way, Dr. Akiyoshi really cares. His office is very homey, in an older house on Gardena Blvd. Dr. Craig is very honest and straightforward. He won't try to get you to do stuff that doesn't need to be done, just to boost his income. He's sincerely concerned for the wellbeing of his patients. His caring treatment helped me get over my fear of the dentist. Now I actually go for cleaning twice a year like I'm supposed to. He has also helped with a couple of emergencies like cracked teeth and lost filings that resulted in a crown.

Mind you I'm not of fan of the needles, but I was prepared for it. So Dr. Ann says he doesn't think I need to be numbed and of course I'm skeptical, but he reassured me, he's good at what he does, but still gave me the option should I change my mind. I say ok let's do it without numbing me. When I tell you this man is good at what he does, he is good! His assistant Zane was awesome as well and very tentative to me while I was laying in the chair. I was told it "should be covered by insurance" and that I'd only pay the difference, so I agreed to move forward. At checkout, I paid $350 and was told I'd be reimbursed after insurance was billed. Later, I found out my insurance didn't cover it at all. My concern wasn't that insurance denied the claim, it was that I was led to believe my coverage had been verified. Had I known I would likely be responsible for the full cost, I would have waited until I was financially ready. I asked if they could offer a discount given the misinformation, but after more than two months of trying to reach the manager, I was told there was nothing they could do because I had received the service. What disappointed me most was the lack of accountability and willingness to address my concerns. I ended up canceling my follow-up appointment and won't be returning. I would recommend confirming that your insurance has actually been verified before agreeing to any treatment that could leave you paying out of pocket.

The front desk lady is incredibly nice! She has the best customer service I've ever had at a dental office. They greet you with warmth and kindness, and you are seen right on time for your appointment because Dr. K individually works on one patient at a time, giving you his full attention instead of bouncing from room to room like some other dentists do.
