I've been going here for a long time and no other office feels the same even with their high-tech equipment or cool attitude. Dr. Yamashiro, Dr. Fujita and his hygienists are the BEST in the Southbay! Dr. Yamashiro does everything from the heart, he's so genuinely kind and passionate about his work. Solution: After spending a week reading reviews on Yelp and other websites, I narrowed down to Dr. Yamashiro's office! My Dental Experience: (1) Dental Hygienist Communication: 5/5 -Dental Hygienist was very professional and introduced herself to me and acknowledged me. Service resulted in an excellent clinical outcome--clean, healthy teeth. (2) Dentist Communication: 5/5 - Dr. Yamashiro introduced himself to me and acknowledged me. He was able to tell me what he was going to do and with valid reasoning. He also asked if I had any questions as a patient because as a patient my opinion matters. (3) Responsiveness of Dental Office Staff: 5/5 -Front line office staffers took their time and willingness to accommodate my busy work and school schedule. They even called me back to inform me that they could fit me in a better time slot. I can tell they are professionally trained because they were able to verbally communicate with me to wait for 10min with valid reason. Many things in my life has changed over the years...but not the place where I get my teeth cleaned. I've been going to dr. Yamashiros my whole life. The staff itself is amongst, if not, the best. Everyone is happy and they always greet you and talk to you on a personal level. They manage to make a dentist check up a Lot more comforting than what you'll expect. Dr roger knows how to make you feel right at home and seems to be able to relate to all of his patients that come in. The check ups are excellent and don't take too long at all. They've always given me a to go pack with an extra toothbrush and travel toothpaste with some floss. Everyone is so professional and even the people working the front desk try and address you by your name for that personal touch. Parking can be found in an underground structure of the building. Dr. Yamashiro is the best!!! I had two teeth extracted today with technically no pain!!! His procedure is usually very smooth, painless, and stress free. He made my crown in house so for a busy working person like me, it's totally awesome. He is always welcoming and his staff is so friendly and professional. He just left me a follow up message in Japanese! I can understand English perfectly but he always treats me with Japanese care, lol. Thank you Dr. Yamashiro. I have been to many different dentist in different corners of the country and Dr. Yamashiro is probably the best. Very knowledgeable and caring. His staff is pleasant and caring. People would not fear going to the dentist if they were like Dr. Yamashiro. I have been to multiple dentists that are always looking to make an extra buck off your visit. Not the case here at all. I had a visit with them to see about a possible cracked tooth. Guess what? They did not even charge me for the exam. I just had my teeth cleaned last week by Cory, and it had to be one of the most pleasurable cleanings I have ever had. 0 pain. I cant tell you how happy I am I found this place and would not hesitate in a second to send anyone to this practice. The office is state of the art and operating room clean. Conveniently, his office books me twice a year for check up and cleaning on my way to work. A few weeks a go on a Saturday I chewed on a hard candy which pulled out my crown. They have early appointments for people who can't miss work, the office staff is extremely friendly, and the parking is easy and free. I have been a patient of Dr. Yamashiro for more than 15 years. I have traveled from Long Beach, Riverside, Arizona, and Texas for my appointments.(Yes, he is that good!) The service is always exceptional, timely, and accommodating. Dr. Yamashiro is very patient, professional, and friendly. He is extremely personable and remembers the little things (degree progress, personal and family illnesses, etc.). He promptly responds when I have emergencies and personally returns my calls. Dr Roger Yamashiro is absolutely the best! Competent. Efficient. Skillful. Caring and kind. I and my family have gone to him for about 20 years now and have never had a negative experience with him or his absolute wonderfully kind and incredibly thorough and competent hygienist and staff. I have had painless and no problems from root canals to crowns to cavities, painlessly done, incredibly perfect fittings..no returning needed to redo, or readjust, or problems. The entire office seems to immulate Dr. Yamashiro's competence and kindness. I love them all! I had been to several incompetent dentists before him who just couldn't fill even simple cavities correctly and had to repeatedly go back to file down the filling to allow correct bite,etc.. or cleanings that didn't feel any cleaner.. This dentist , Roger yamashiro, charged my eighty eight year old mother-in-law, $1450 for dental work (she has upper dentures, installed by him, that never fitted properly) for tooth work that took thirty minutes! Her dental insurance paid him $640 as that is close to what the rate for that type of work (according to the insurance). They billed her for a balance of $815. When I called the office for a discount stating her age and limited social security income, Dr. Yamashiro called me in the evening and after lot of pleading, agreed to a discount of only $160. When I offered to close the deal by paying total of $1000 (including the insurance payment), as she was wheel-chair bound, with limited social security income, he got mad at me and said he is not into bargaining and that he treats her like his own mother. So I asked if he would charge his own other $1450 for such a short job; he did not answer. This is an unscrupulous dentist whose greed takes precedent over basic decency as how to treat senior citizens.
