A cute lil bookshop right in front of Pike Place Market! I stumbled upon this bookshop while walking to Pike Place and I just had to stop by. It's a tradition of mine to buy a book and bookmark while on a trip so this was a serendipitous find. This quaint spot feels like something out of a book with two levels to skim through many volumes of books. Upstairs, they had little nooks where you could cozy up with a book and look out the window to see a view of Pike Place. A great find in Seattle!

Really fun and quirky place. If the cats playing music outside for tips put you off, it's probably not for you. But for the rest of us - it's a great time.

    But these books...

I loved this bookstore! They had sooo much and it was overwhelming looking at everything. They also had some room to breathe, which was also refreshing. My husband and I came here so that we could get our bearings and find a cheese spot that we were looking for. And we ended up staying for about an hour, each in our own level, space. Hunger eventually overtook us and we left, but not without my husband making a purchase. They had so many books and the value was good. I know that I will definitely be back. The value is pretty good, which I'd expect from an indie bookstore. I don't buy these, but they had some local indie zines and other things of interest which was a nice touch. But the books were throughout the store and I didn't feel the claustrophobia, that I felt at another store. I appreciated being able to stay in here for the duration of my visit. So yes, I'll be back.

Super cute, kitschy quirky bookstore at pike market. The store goes deeper than you expect and I like all the independent trinkets they sell and the causes they promote

This wasn't on my itinerary for my Seattle visit, but we were walking around Pike Place Market when I spotted this bookstore. If you know me, then you know I can't resist going into a bookstore. I just love the smell of books and seeing crisp pages being passed at every turn. Unfortunately, this is kind of where the appeal ends with this one. The bookstore itself was cute, two floors even, reminiscent of independent bookstores such as Books & Books in Miami. The ambiance? Meh. There was one cashier up front and he was apathetic, not even saying hi. I felt like a bit of a bother even stepping in. The fact that it was just my best friend and I in the store didn't help. I felt downright ignored. Needless to say, I went up and down the stairs, took a few photos, left, and just didn't look back. Enjoyed my time much more at a second bookstore I later went to in Seattle.

Great cute book store around the market area. Great selection of indie queer and diverse authors.

What a wonderful bookstore! We found tons of great books and I'm sure we could've spent hours more browsing if we'd had time.

My cousin and I were basically playing hide and seek because I couldn't find where she was. Lol. I had a hard time finding it, but once I finally did totally worth it! This cozy bookstore feels like stepping back in time. Shelves are stacked with a mix of used, vintage, and classic books, and honestly... they smell like it too. Lol. There's just something comforting about that old-book scent. You'll find everything from fiction and poetry to rare finds and children's titles tucked in the corners. It's small, quiet, and slightly perfectly imperfect in the best way because every shelf feels like a treasure hunt! The nostalgic vibe makes you want to linger a little longer. Priced fair, service is fast. If you love books with history and personality, this is a sweet little hidden gem worth discovering inside Pike Place. A nice escape from the Market's buzz just you, the books, and that unmistakable paper and ink smell.

I walked in and didn't expect much, but we were exploring the levels of Pike Place because I didn't realize they had levels upon my last visit. I was also looking for a biscuit spot that was across the street. So we went back and forth, floor by floor and found this gem where we stopped to peruse the books. My husband found some books and bought them. The person working there was nice and helpful. It was clear that he knew his inventory, as my husband asked about a book and he led him to it. The value was good as well. I know that we will definitely be back, next time, I hope to spend a bit more time there. This isn't the most organized place, but if you are willing to look through the books and are open to the surprise find that awaits you, then this is the spot for all of that!

He also steered me into the directions of books that were absolutely hysterical. From "The Gas That We Pass", to "Everybody Poops", to perhaps my all-time favorite of "All My Friends Are Dead." I paid $27 more for the fantastic customer service that I received from the owner much more than the actual contents of the book that I purchased. Certainly one of Pike Place Market's vendor staples that I will absolutely return to on my next visit.

Took me an hour to find Lion heart book store cause it's in one of the levels at Pike place and being such a small and crammed spot with many many stores was very hard to find. I totally will take the blame on my navigation skills but what was disappointing was calling multiple times and no one picked up my call - just for some tips or guidance. Next the owner wasn't in the store, there was this boy who no matter how well or how nicely I tried asking for tips on books or any details around books the only response I got was "unfortunately I don't have any info, you have to look up the books" gosh! That wasn't the help I was expecting and the boy refused to move from his spot or even try helping from the spot he was so comfortably perched on. No matter what, bad bad experience!

They have been at this current corner spot at 1st and S Jackson since February 2021. This bibliophile clearly has been very late to the party! I stopped in during Independent Booksellers Day (4/25/26) and it was packed full of people. Warmly acknowledged upon entering and later when departing. I briefly browsed the shelves. There's a decent selection, as well as, other merch available for purchase. What really caught my attention were the high curved ceilings. It gave a bright, airy feeling despite feeling a bit cramped with the current capacity onsite. My previous indie booksellers in Pioneer Square were Elliott Bay Book Store (moved to Capitol Hill) and the treasure trove owned by the late David Ishii. This requirement was never mentioned when I asked about returns.
