The location and atmosphere of this coffee shop are nice. The outside is a very cool looking building and the inside was decorated very nice for Christmas time. I got a peppermint bark latte and it was very good, I don't usually get hot coffee but I thought I would give it a chance and I was very glad that I did. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because the staff, one girl in particular. She was acting childish and made us feel unwelcome by rolling her eyes when she thought we weren't looking because we didn't know what to order right away, she made it seem like her job was the worst. I went to this new location on a recent Saturday morning and WOW, what a mess. The three people working were disorganized, having LOADS of personal chatter while people waited, and above all, they were unfriendly and dismissive of customers just trying to get a cup of coffee. Horrible attitude, horrible customer service AND on top of that.. my coffee wasn't right. How hard can it be to simply make a cappuccino ?? almost $20 for 2 drinks and a muffin plus a very much UNDESERVED tip which was given BEFORE the order was received. We had a great drip brew cup of El Salvador and a red eye. The coffee was excellent. I prefer African origin beans and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the El Salvador. The espresso was smooth, not bitter. We ordered to go and service was quick and friendly. The cream and sugar station was clean and included simple syrup in a tidy dispenser. Prices were above average for espresso drinks compared to some third wave cafes but worthwhile if you plan to linger over a latte or use the Internet. Cozy comfortable setting. Every time I visit Fuel, it's a wonderful experience. There are plenty of tables and chairs, so seating is never a problem. The atmosphere is charming and cozy- perfect for a coffee shop! (My favorite table is right in the window- perfect for people watching.) The staff is always super friendly and helpful with suggestions. It's a great spot to meet up with a friend, have a work meeting, or just hang out with your lap top! The coffee is delicious (try the Dirty Ivan!) and their food is amazing and homemade. The quiche never disappoints for breakfast. I'd highly recommend visiting Fuel. It's even super convenient for coffee on the go! Multiple mornings I've swung by (parking on Main Street is easy and available in the AM) to grab a drip coffee on my way to work. It never takes more than 5 minutes! read more

Fantastic little shop in downtown Lafayette. Nice decor and best of all, delicious nitro cold brew! Cold brew with a sweet, foamy top. Only downside, it's only offered in 10 oz cups. I'm updating my review, because the past few visits have been great. The newish lunch menu has nice options that are well prepared, and the baristas have been providing great service. This still isn't the venue for a quick cup of coffee and/or breakfast, because it will take 10 minutes minimum to get an order, so make sure to adjust your expectations accordingly. If you are looking for a place to socialize, work, or relax where time is no issue, community takes priority, and you really don't care if they swap your order from time to time, it's a great little coffee shop. The bagged beans they now sell seem to be inferior in quality. Meh. Would I go again? The coffee's good, but cappucinos are so dry... Give a lattecino (with more milk) a try! Wifi works well, and it's more or less calm- till the band fired up at 5 with some folk songs. Great vibes inside but never really like the drinks, they are a little flat and bland. Lafayette, IN has a lot of coffee shops, but this has to be one of the best! The coffee is phenomenal, the food scrumptious, and the barista's remember my name, drink, and how I like my food. My two favorite drinks there are an Iced vanilla latte (when it's hot) and a Cortado (when it's cold). The latter of the two drinks isn't even on the menu, but they make it at request (another thing I love about Fuel). My two favorite foods served there are their in-house-made breakfast sandwich and their in-house-made meatball sub. If I could afford it, I would get these two items everyday! I went there and enjoyed it...but saw several times that she would approach younger people and ask them to leave the coffee shop if they stayed for "too long." They would look helplessly around, confused, and sort of pick up their stuff and leave. I know there's no business policies against this, but it seemed sort of an odd thing to do to your costumers. When I asked her about it, she said in controlled anger, "This isn't a library, it's a coffee shop. I need to help people have common sense. One time a girl just bought tea and she stayed at a table for 2.5 hours." I am wondering how she "chooses" the people that need to leave ....just consider this before going. I think she could do it in a nicer way by putting signs saying "Consider giving up your table after several hours or during hours of high customer traffic." read more

This is one of the most amazing coffee houses of all time. The coffee was excellent and this college town quality business is something to behold. Fuel's coffee in Lafayette is much better tha the Milwaukee version of Fuel which is more of a yuppie barnburner of a hangout and nothing of a traditional coffee house experience one would come to expect form a coffee house pushing human fuel caffeine experiences. read more

I thought I was going into another every day coffee shop when I stopped by fuel for a cup of joe, but I was mistaken. I was first taken back by the atmosphere of the establishment... Becca, my gal, and I instantly fell in love with the warmth and character of the place. When taking our order, we both were happily overwhelmed with smiles from the staff as they helped us create the perfect order for our morning together. Then, as if they didn't do enough already, we wanted refills on our drinks and joked about getting a 72% filling on our original beverages, but this joke turned into a magical reality when the man with the mane of a great lion helped fill this order. After a short couple minutes, this fantastic individual came to our table and dropped off a cup that was weighed to have EXACTLY 72% of hot water within it's warm structure. Well done, sir, well done. To put Fuel into words is an impossible task... but to those who are trying to have a flawless experience with a group or alone at a place that is enjoyable to everyone involved, you have certainly found your stop! 10/10 would recommend to a friend AND stranger :) read more

I'm not a huge fan of coffee and was hesitant when this was a recommendation, however I would most definitely go back for this drink alone! Plus staff are very helpful for us indecisive people! Went to Fuel for lunch with friends. I got the turkey avocado club with chips (choice of takis or ruffles) and a cookie. My friends got pancakes and a breakfast burrito and each got a latte. The turkey sandwich was okay not great, there was a chunk of bacon that was inedible so I had to spit it out. The chocolate chip cookie was fantastic however. In general, it seemed overpriced, it was $2.60 for a small drip coffee (more expensive than sbucks and panera). However, I think they roast their own beans, so I guess it's quality. Friends seemed to like their lattes, but they are not very picky. Super jealous of the breakfast burrito though as it looked delicious. I will probably give it another chance. My favorite coffee shop in Lafayette. It reminds me of some place that I would visit while in Denver or Seattle. Their food and desserts are house made, the owner is a wonderful woman, and they are currently working on roasting their own beans. The prices are good as well!
