They actually used coffee beans and their technique when making it was exquisite. The drink came out relatively quickly. The taste of my mocha perfectly describes what a mocha coffee should taste like. There is no flavor overpowering another. You can really feel the coffee on your taste buds with the aftertaste and the cool sensation is just amazing. The place is nice and cozy nothing too extravagant which is good for the vibes you want to feel when at a coffee place. 100% better than Starbucks. Would definitely come back if I wasn't broke. And just as it had been years ago...the ambience had that cozy vibe that only a college town based coffee shop could own! Quite a nice cafe by campus! The prices are amazing, only $4.25 for a vanilla latte, compared to Greyhouse nextdoor which is really expensive. These two neighboring cafes are very different in terms of vibe and interior, but Vienna is a nice chill meetup spot and also to study. But the seating in Greyhouse is nicer. Every single person was a college student in this coffee shop, the line took about 15 min and the entire place was filled w students w laptops. If that's not your vibe then I'd stay away I ordered a white mocha and a slice of a loaf of sweet bread that they had a variety of. The white mocha is terrible. I won't even drink it. Wish I could return it. It tastes like syrup water, and not even a good flavored syrup. The loaf slice is just ok. Super disappointed as I stood in line way too long. Have noticed repeated visits have done a number on my digestion, not sure what syrup brand of pump-flavors used here but my buddy and I have had regular digestive issues from the flavored lattes. Typically I only have this from white chocolate or other milk based sugar additives but Vienna has gone one more to seemingly tackle my body with any of its huge flavor selection. A major bummer because this is the hot quick spot study meet and greet chill and fill of the area! It's the most budget friendly especially compared to the overpriced smug nonsense nextdoor on the corner, large food menu too, attention diets with vegan desserts, nicely basic atmosphere, and good service with a card punch rewards program. I often get the kombucha on tap too which looks like my only good brew option for my tricky belly. I'd really like bigger kombucha sizes and a discount for binging my own bottle. I've tried the food a couple times, very easy to eat, also Copper Moon and Sacred Grounds match alongside for this sort. I normally vote for the Sacred but their sad hours bring me to Indie Coffee more than ever since they craft their own ingredients in house. If Vienna would do that, this would easily be a top trip hit in the city. read more

A cute little coffee shop located near Purdue campus that is kind of tucked away from the hullabaloo of campus life. They have an extensive coffee/tea/other drinks menu, and probably the best food menu for a coffee shop related to the Purdue campus. Orders are made fast and the staff are friendly. There is a lot of seating, and usually it is pretty quiet, although I have found people here to be chatty- probably not a good place to buckle down and do work, but a good place to grad some coffee and meet up with friends. There is outside seating, but so many people from the university housing smoke near it that it is hard to sit at if you are not already a smoker. read more

Picked up 2 pieces of Tiramisu cake from this place. The set up of the shop is very nice. The tables & chairs are spread enough to allow for social distancing. Most of the patrons were students meeting up with their groups and there was some background music. My order was ready upon arrival. Fast and effective. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is check out local coffee shops. I was near by here for work and a few of us decided to pop in to recap our previous meeting. We went through a quick list of things we needed to cover off on and before any of us had a chance to order a drink, a worker (Eric) came over and told us to leave 1) because the same group of ladies sits at the table every week and 2) we hadn't ordered anything yet. The table did not have a reserve sign and we spoke to the ladies we sat near upon arrival and saved them chairs for the others arriving later. The disappointing part was the way he spoke to us. I always order coffee/tea when I work somewhere and am always aware of that. He didn't explain any policy and just told us to leave and we had only be there for about 10-15 minutes. To top it off, we did order 4 items and when one of us went to grab our coffee, we could hear him talking badly about us. It was very uncomfortable and very very unprofessional. There is a right way to let your customers know of policies (maybe we did take 10 minutes too long to order upon arrival) and there is a wrong way. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this location based on the interaction with a very rude, unprofessional barista. read more

A few great things, they got quite an extensive selection of food and snacks to choose from and they are decent price!!! For example, all their sandwiches are $5.61, best I've seen in a while. Coffee shops tend to push it, especially with their food. The place is much quieter and less busy than other spots. Their coffee isn't top notch, but it gets the job done. The baristas are alright--for the coffee experts out there, no, they don't know how to steam milk properly. Absolutely the best coffee place on campus. I do not understand the people who say Vienna is where you go when Greyhouse is full, Vienna is what places like Greyhouse and Starbucks attempt to be - a relaxing coffee shop with interesting regulars and good drinks. If one starts going to Vienna on a regular basis you will likely start to meet and talk to the regulars here, the baristas will recognize you and engage in conversation, and you will start to feel like this place is a second home. Recently, they added gorgeous new tables and booths to the main area that have plenty of outlets that run along the underside - making Vienna a valuable study spot. They also often host open-mic nights that are all interesting and entertaining. I recommend the espresso, Turkish coffee, and cold-brew. The breakfast sandwiches (6$ for a LARGE sandwich plus a side) are a great deal and their hummus is homemade and delicious. Sometimes the owner will make specialty pastries like Baklava (I think) that are available at the front, there are also great vegan pastries. It never gets too loud here but it never feels empty either. There is always great music playing (ranging from jazz to the Grateful Dead to even hip-hop). Vienna has great drinks, great food, and a great vibe. It is the perfect place to study, to meet with friends, or to take a first date. read more

I enjoy coming here a lot. I've never had them but their vegan pastries in the fridge to the left of ordering is really nice as it feels difficult to find vegan anything in the area. Every time i've been there i've gotten the vanilla soy latte and it's been great. It's flavorful and always fast service. Definitely will be coming back. read more

To me, this would be the typical "lowkey college town coffee shop". Feels tucked away, plenty of coffee, LOTS of mismatched tables and chairs, some couches, and a multitudes of available snacks. This is the quiet coffee shop on campus where you go to focus on your work, to read, or to quietly draw or something along that lines. I know there are more than a few acquaintances that were a bit put off my the mish-mash appearance and the kind of lack of cohesive asethetic. But it really is lovely and has the perfect feel during the middle of the semester (or in the middle of finals), when you DO NOT give a fuck about anything and DO NOT have the energy to put yourself together nice enough to show your face and someplace like Greyhouse (where all the put together people always seem to be). In this way, it suddenly seems so much nicer because it reflects how you feel and isn't just too much...It's especially enticing and my preferred spot to wait for the bus really late at night when I have a headache and hate the world. If you haven't gotten that impression yet, I'm hinting that this place tends to be on the quiet side even when there is people there. But yeah, CONVENIENCE. It's down the street from the Union and located at Chauncey Square. And there is a REASON it's lasted as long as it has while sitting RIGHT NEXT to Greyhouse. I've never NOT been able to find a seat there besides during finals, and they make it affordable to fill myself up with large-portioned sugary snacks at that time. For one thing, easiest place to pick up a cannoli. And they are very decent cannolis, which you have the option to choose a chocolate dipped or non-chocolate dipped one, and I actually came to love the pistachio coating. But that's not their only dessert. A variety of parfaits, cakes, tarts, etcetera, etcetera. Drinks and coffee always order up really quickly too. Long story short, good place to hang out as you try to get over that hangover, to study like a maniac for that upcoming exam in an overlarge sweater when you haven't washed your hair and your roommates are being a PAIN, or to just brood quietly with a coffee (don't lie, you've done that or you're GOING to do it). read more

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who loved the Vienna Cafe because the atmosphere screamed intellectual hipster. And then she actually bought something. So I won't hide the fact that I've never gotten an actual coffee from this little place, but I have purchased chai and hot chocolate, both of which were sorely disappointing because they lacked flavor. Honestly, how do you mess up a hot chocolate? Whether this was due to the drink being watered down or just poorly made (or both), I don't know. The cafe has been around the neighborhood for quite a while, and I'm truly glad to see it survive the economic downturn; however, if they want to compete with Starbucks and continue to serve as an anchor for caffeine-reliant college kids, then mayhaps they need to better their offerings. read more

Vienna - the place you go to when GH is too full. I feel like they must treat their employees pretty badly. This one time a while ago I remember during peek hours this one blonde girl working there by herself, basically going crazy over all the food and coffee orders having to both ring them up and prepare them. Later on I asked her if it was normal and she said that it was not out of the ordinary. Management aside, the tables are not particularly comfortable except for MAYBE the one in the back which is usually taken. The coffee is actually pretty bad too, as are most of the baked goods that they bring from Chicago (why?) But the baked goods that they make in-house are pretty good. For some reason they are mostly vegan, like vegan banana chocolate bread (which is good) and vegan cupcakes (which are rich, but the times I've had it the frosting was all hard and inedible). Some of their other food items are A-OK, like the sandwiches and hummus plate. Basically, I will continue to come here when GH is annoyingly packed, when GH is too damn cold in the winter, or when I want a vegan baked good. read more

I have mixed feelings about this coffee shop. Things I like: chai is still good, and there is always space to work in a quiet, intellectual environment (sometimes when there are not too many people talking so loud because there is mainly one big room, the small one towards the bathroom is always full). Prices are cheaper than greyhouse but quality is worse so you are paying for what you are getting, pretty much. Things I dont like: it's always hot in there. Coffee is just "eh". Desserts look old. Servers are not nice, they don't smile to you (except for a girl that works there very randomly). I think I've found a new regular lunch spot. I was really pleased with my meal here. Atmosphere is nice, lots of seating and not crowded at all at one on a weekday. Friendly service, nice selection of hot drinks and bakery items. I ordered one of their pita sandwiches, which comes with a side for $5.
