Absolutely loved my experience at Early Bird Cafe! The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the food came out fresh and hot. I really had high hopes for this place, realizing that amongst all the choices in West Lafayette or Lafayette, this was definitely a cuter smaller probably ma and pa owned place rather than the other big conglomerate of chains. I don't like giving out low or poor reviews. However, this visit was really unfortunate. Upon walking in there was no one who greeted you and when she did emerge from the kitchen, there was nothing along the lines of high welcome or good morning rather it was how many. Our waiter only came to our table once for a refill on coffee however never asked us how our meal was after it had arrived. He also did not give us the check on his little mobile machine, although we did see him give checks to other tables right next to us on his little mobile machine, if that is what I saw. they made us walk all the way back to the front in order to check out and pay. Our waiter did take the right order, which was my omelette with no cheese however, as you can see from the pictures, there was definitely cheese in this omelette. That was also disappointing. My partner ordered toast which came with his meal, and the bread was not toasted at all in fact, it looked like it was just simply taken out of the bag. The eggs also were not fresh eggs. He definitely came out of a carton. The country fried steak he ordered was definitely not steak as well. The only thing that really went well were my hashbrowns because they were toasted on the top part. The coffee here unfortunately tasted like brown hot water. the place photographs well, with all the hanging florals this unfortunately really missed the ball and missed the point. It was a huge waste of money and they really need to work on service and food here. If you have other choices for breakfast, please go somewhere else because this is very disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive. When we saw someone cleaning a table that it really wasn't being cleaned it was simply being cleared out. No cleaning tools or cleaning fluids were used at all in the process of cleaning. I didn't think anyone could really ruin breakfast orders, but they definitely managed to do it. read more

Super cute place that's open all day! Breakfast for dinner, oh yes! Service was great. I had ran 16 miles that morning and I was so ready for food. We all got coffee, which was lukewarm when they serve it. Second cup was warmer, but never hot. When my food came out the fries were cold, but at least they were crispy and seasoned well. My burger had what seemed like 8 tablespoons worth of mayonnaise on it and I had to take more than half of it off. At first I thought it was cheese which I was so excited for but sadden to learn it was mayonnaise. Ask for it on the side of you don't want a lot. My burger was cooked medium well but it was fine, expected more well done. Flavor was good though. Plenty of parking. Lots of options on the menu. Nice cozy place to check out. read more

I was excited to try this restaurant out this morning especially with the reviews about the chilaquiles, but when we arrived at 6AM (their advertised opening time), the place was dark and empty, with no one inside. Had to go down the road to a different cafe. For a restaurant named Early Bird, that was disappointing. To make matters worse, when I called later this morning to express my disappointment, the response I got was simply, "We're open now." read more

Atmosphere is cute with artificial florals hanging on walls and ceiling. Outside doors had a collection of real flowers which were very nice. Bathroom was decor was charming. Was seated quickly and drink order taken. Very attentive to all diners. We had the Mega burger with cheese and bacon. Burger very good. We also had the chilli which was ok not quite the correct spices. was not hot more like Luke warm. Will definitely try again for breakfast. read more

We were driving through the area looking for a place to have brunch. We found this little gem. My husband said one of the best skillets he has ever had. I had a beautiful vegetarian omelette. The service was amazing! Everyone is so kind and attentive. The restaurant itself is very clean. And the bathrooms are also spotless. Which in nice when traveling. read more

This place has a case of confused identity. It is decorated like a bistro, complete with the tortuous and uncomfortable metal chairs although these have wooden seats. The menu reflects a diner, pancakes, French toast, omelettes, biscuits and gravy along with burgers but also burritos and quesadillas. Everything is bland. Nothing is seasoned. It's all forgettable. Service is fine. Not terribly attentive and certainly not friendly. The few times I've come, they act put out that you walked in and there are only one or two other tables sat. read more

This place is a hit or a miss honestly! I went there on a Monday when it was not super busy and everything went great! The food was yum! However I went there again on a Saturday and took my guests but it was super busy and everything was a mess! First of all, the food came about a full hour later and I ordered a vege omelette and instead received an omelette with bacon in it. Our server was very nice and apologized, and she too was running here and there, so I don't blame her, plus I think she took our orders just fine, but the kitchen messed it up! It was embarrassing to take my guests there sadly, not doing that again :( read more

Visited on a recent trip to West Lafayette. Service staff could not have been better! Comfortable interior with decent seating. My partner and I saw a "now open" sign for the Early Bird Café and wanted to give it a try. We are really glad we did, as the food and service are both stellar here. Everything we have tried, from the Early Bird/Trio (it has two names on the menu) French Toast to their burger was exceptional. Several people mentioned how great their crèpes are, so those are next in our list when we go back. I had a good inexpensive breakfast here. I also tried the house crepes (beware) I noticed the menu photo had an ingredient not listed as a topping and did not want corn syrup as a topping. I asked them to leave it off and came out fine. One with topped with fresh strawberry's and one with fresh banana and a bit of slightly sweet whipped cream-cheese in the middle. This is an amazing little spot nestled on the west side and I urge everyone to check it out and support them! i rarely give a full 5 stars, but this small business absolutely earned it! Service is phenomenal, atmosphere is clean and so sweetly decorated. You can tell they put all their love in opening this cafe and the decor was done with intention to make you feel at home. The reason we came through for lunch is because we wanted a good burger nearby and everywhere we have tried just did not hit our mark. This burger was cooked perfectly, with a great quality bun and fresh veggies! The fries are SO delicious! When i saw a photo from a review with their fries, I knew I would love the style. The french toast was light and balanced. And the best part about it all is the price point: INCREDIBLE prices.
