Ordered takeout a few days ago. I've recently come to love sushi so I was super happy with how the food tasted! We ordered a spicy tuna roll, a spicy shrimp roll, and a salmon avocado roll. We also ordered chicken hibachi with fried rice. The food was delicious! The spicy tuna roll is my absolute favorite, the flavor is on point. The spicy shrimp roll was good, but lacked in flavor. I wasn't a fan of the salmon avocado roll just because I felt like it was a little heavy on the avocado and there wasn't enough fish to balance it out. The chicken and fried rice was delicious, too, but I definitely expected it to be. They're known for their hibachi and it did not disappoint. The service was lovely and I truly believe you get a lot of bang for your buck here. We will definitely be ordering from Fuji again in the future. read more

The vegetables for the Hibachi Chicken we're pre-steamed and added to the chicken (created a watery sauce). Not a great combo and it's not difficult to fry veggies - take the extra few mins. Dumplings were pretty good as was the Chicken Fried Rice. Nice portion sizes and was much better on the second day when combined into one wok and stir fried with left over sauce from the dumplings and some sesame oil. First experience was terrible. We dined in around 7pm on a Thursday. Restaurant was pretty busy so we asked what kind of wait time it would be if we were seated. They told us 30 minutes so we agreed. We ordered pretty quickly around 7:25 and our first plate of sashimi came 1:15 min after. We then asked the server again how long for the rest. They said in 15 min. After another 45 min go by and the sashimi was eaten we decided to ask again. They then say around 15 more minutes and this time it came. Let's just say it wasn't worth it. Food was hot but mid. It was like they flew to Japan caught the fish then came back. Fish was pretty fresh but the rest of food was no good. The doused everything with insane salt and pepper but we didn't complain since we were over it. The bright side is fish wasn't that bad but the rest was poorly made. 1.5 star experience read more

We had a nice time out for my daughter's birthday. There are so many rolls and other options to choose from, there is something for everyone. When we called ahead to reserve our table, we were informed that this locations does not have the hibachi tables, which we appreciated knowing. Also, they do not have a full liquor license. Only beer and wine was available. Service was friendly. I did not see dessert on the menu, nor was it offered. I hate to leave them a poor review but it's well deserved. Before I continue I would say I've been to the Maple Road location at least 20 times over the years maybe more. I found it to be the freshest and most authentic sushi restaurant in Williamsville. And their food is still very good. But I have a problem with their service. This is my second time there in a month. I went with my son about four weeks ago at approximately 3 PM and they gave us a lunch menu, I asked to see a dinner menu but the waitress acted like she didn't understand English and walked away. I went in the back to wash my hands I noticed all the sushi specials on the chalkboard next to sushi bar. I asked her about that and then she brought me over a specials menu. I was They were not that busy, And the waitress acted like I was bothering her. I went in there tonight by myself at 7:45 PM. There were only two other tables in the entire restaurant. I saw more servers than I did guests. I've been here frequently over the years I haven't sat at the sushi bar in a couple years and was ignorant to the fact that it's been closed since Covid. Makes sense. I'll short this by saying, they really aren't accommodating. I wanted one of the house special rolls with the eight piece sashimi special and no California roll. And charge me for the difference in price. Nope. Had to pay full shot. I figured it would be too much food anyway. I asked them to leave salmon off the plate. Well that must've upset somebody in the sushi bar, because I received two pieces of tuna, and six pieces of another fish, that I'm not sure what it was. I told the waitress that there should be more variety on the sashimi plate. She told me "well you said you didn't like salmon, so that's what the chef prepared. That's the way it's always prepared". I had to correct her because I've eaten that same dish at this restaurant at least a half a dozen times, and you generally get two pieces of four different fish, 8 in total. And even with no one in the restaurant it took approximately 1/2 hour for me to get eight pieces of the same fish and a baby California roll! The takeout was busy. But they let me sit there and sit there, and again there's no one in the restaurant really. I mentioned to the waitress that it's taking too long, and she said "well it's Friday night". And I'm telling you there was nobody in the restaurant. By the time I got my food there was only one other table with two people sitting there. I know they have a phenomenal takeout business it was nonstop. But in Buffalo I don't know how generous people are with tipping the servers for take out. I would think they would treat me a customer sitting down to eat, more politely. I told the waitress at the beginning of my service, to leave me the menu as I might get one of the special rolls if I'm still hungry. Turns out I couldn't wait the extra 45 minutes it probably would've taken to prepare it. Of course, maybe by that time, I may have been really hungry again! No manager came over to apologize, or ask me what the problem was. I hate feeling uncomfortable in a restaurant, and I was made to feel very uncomfortable for the second time in a month. It felt as if I was imposing on them by sitting in the restaurant. But I will give the food five stars. I even like the dining room which has not changed in 20 years. The whole staff is all over the people who are coming in to pick up takeout. I had a view of everyone who came in and I did not see anyone slip any of the servers any money. He would think they would take care of someone in the restaurant at a table, who has an obligation to tip them. I still gave her a decent tip. But I'll try Wassabi next time, or Kyoto. This place brings back a lot of memories as it was my 1 year anniversary date with my fiancé back in 2013. The quality has pretty much stayed the same! I love the ambiance of the restaurant. Some of my favorite items here are the dragon roll, spicy salmon roll, and stir fried shrimp udon. The udon is particularly my favorite. You get a good number of huge shrimps (it was either 7 or 8). The service is always good. I'm not sure whether they serve desserts because I've never ordered any, but I always make a stop a few doors down at Dessert Deli whenever I come here! Came for lunch with a friend before we grocery shopped. Yes, grocery shopping with friends is fun and normal. If you're smart you'll never shop on an empty stomach, so we decided to cave into cravings. The restaurant only had one other table filled when we came around 3pm. The waiter was super eager to take our orders...we had to send him away about three times to give us enough time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted. Lunch menu has incredibly reasonable prices and they come with miso soup. Between the two of us, we ordered two lunch entrees and a special roll which was more than enough. Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, dancing lobster and chicken udon. The udon was mistakenly brought out as fried rice but was quickly corrected. The sushi hits the spot, the ginger isn't the weird pink kind and the wasabi isn't watery like it can be sometimes. Solid food, good deals for lunch! read more

Yay! Found a sushi place I'll go to again! Fuji Grill is located in a strip mall and the exterior might not look that great, but the inside of the restaurant is very clean and nice. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean and well kept the place was. They also have Japanese wall art as well as yellow wooden Japanese-style interior design. The food was really good. We ordered gyoza, the Dancing Eel roll, and donkatsu. The portions were nice and everything tasted delicious. The food came out very fast too. The only thing I would change here is the lighting (it's a bit dark), but other than that, it was a great experience. read more

I went here today around 10:50 am. I wanted to try this spot since it is across the street from where I live. When I walked in, a lady approached me and asked if I needed a menu. She was very patient with me when I asked about things I didn't understand because this was my first time ordering. I got the lunch special consisting of spicy tofu, served with a California roll, Shumai, soup and salad. It was my first time eating the California roll and Shumai and it did taste good. Saturday night at the Fugi Grill on Maple has always been a solid choice when it comes to "whatever ", "I don't care" , or "you pick". I'm glad I "picked". We were greeted by a friendly smile and a temperature check. (Which makes more sense to me than running around with a mask to just take it off.) Instead of making the world look like a bathroom, Fugi Grill takes a different approach to maintaining social distance and playing by the "rules". Rather than some piece of clear plastic hanging from the ceiling or some pallet wood, Fugi has these attractive room dividers set up that mirror the overall decor of the restaurant. It's nice to sit and share a meal and not feel like you are sitting in a toilet waiting to be scrubbed. Our waiter was super attentive, personable, and very appreciative for our compliments. The food was great!! We shared a Rock and Roll, Spicy Tuna , and the Sunflower roll. The Shrimp and Ginger enjoyed by Liz was great. I had a plate off the Sushi appetizer menu. I don't remember what kind of fish it was - blame the Sake. But the combination of the Sushi- the sriracha- cilantro- jalapeños and citrus was amazing!! At home- I would have licked the sauce off the plate. (You would too!) Looking to go out and enjoy a nice evening - while playing by the rules - but not marching on the way to the meat grinder - hit up the Fuji Grill on Maple! Return trip to Maple Rd was wonderful, as usual. Wonderful waiter, quick service and a great meal. The Fuji combo was awesome. Lots of glorious and fresh sushi, sashimi and a roll at the perfect temperature. Such a delight to share. Love Fuji Grill! We came in on a Saturday night and luckily it wasn't too packed so we were seated right away. Our waitress came over immediately to take our drink orders. For drinks there are lots to choose from, including Sake and a page of Asian alcoholic beverages that all looked tasty too. For food we needed a lot of time to decide. Besides the rolls, sashimi, udon, tempura, and other dinner entrees they have, the specials menu was a page front and back of appetizers on one side, and a ton of rolls on the other side. All the rolls sounded good so I just picked the Olympic roll. It was pretty much all different types of fish with avocado, no rice. Literally like 90% fish. It came with a very flavorful sauce and the pieces were pretty big! I also ordered the vegetable Tempura appetizer, so combined I was full. Too bad because I really wanted the tempura ice cream. Ps- the veggie tempura appetizer is great! It comes with huge pieces of veggies and could be shared. My boyfriend ordered two small rolls and Beef w/broccoli. I am a jaded New Yorker, and when it comes to sushi especially, a recommendation has me very skeptical. I was away from home on a business trip, and when I heard other coworkers were opting to come here for dinner one night, I decided to be social and jump on the sushi band wagon. I must say, this place really has their stuff together. The place is in a mini-market pit stop, and I was hesitant, but the hostess was super nice, and the decor was a step up from your average take-out sushi place. They have booths as well as regular tables, and the vibe was definitely Japanese, and not Chinese. The piped music was instrumental Japanese music, and there sushi bar is the focal point at the back of the establishment. The mood was definitely more intimate than what I was expecting, but definitely professional enough for us to eat and talk about the work day together. What really surprised me the most was how fast our orders were processed! We were a party of seven, and one of our colleagues said to order three rolls or so at a time, and keep a menu on the table. I was surprised when she suggested that, but she insisted that they cranked out the orders fast; she was right! The rolls we picked were definitely more Americanized with all the spicy mayo and mango sauces that were drizzled on top of them, but they were nonetheless - excellent! They were slightly larger than one mouth full kinda pieces, but they were fresh and flavorful. Pricing was fair in accordance to what we actually got, and for being Upstate, this was pretty decent place! My first experience at Fuji Grill was a success! The service was great and the food was excellent! They have very unique specials that incorporate unlikely ingredients into their sushi. I have loved everything that I have tried! For my first visit, I went for a late dinner with two of my favorite Yelp Elites. We needed some extra time to decide what to order because the menu was about ten pages long! Our server was very patient. They offer a wide variety of options: hibachi, tempura, Teriyaki, sushi, specialty sushi, hand rolls, noodles, soup, fried rice & a great selection of appetizers! We started with the Lettuce Wraps, which were really good! They tasted a lot like the lettuce wraps at PF Changs, but a bit spicier. For our entrees, we decided to choose one special roll each and split them all. We asked our server if we could have our rolls served on a boat because sushi is WAY better when it is served on a boat- obviously! Our server was happy to comply. We were very happy with the beautiful presentation! We chose the following three rolls: 1. The Buffalo Roll- Salmon, avocado, cream cheese, crunchy crab meat, topped with tobiko and mayonnaise 2. The Hawaii Aloha Roll- Shrimp Tempura with cucumber, mango, topped with avocado 3. The Caribbean Roll- Scallops Tempura & asparagus roll, topped with lobster salad and jalapenos All three were absolutely delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Buffalo Roll. For dessert, I tried a bite of my friend's Tiramisu. I instantly regretted that I was so full because I would have loved to order one all for myself. It was phenomenal! I returned for lunch with my mom a few weeks later. We split two appetizers and one specialty roll Everything was fabulous: 1. The Fireball Roll- White tuna, smoked tuna & asparagus sushi topped with deep fried beets in three sauces 2. Spicy Salmon Gyoza 3. I love me some sushi. I've been to this location a couple other times but this time wasn't the best. It was very empty for a Saturday night. My friend and I both ordered the miso soup and she also got an octopus salad. The soup was good, but not really any flavor. Needed something else like possibly a pinch of salt. She loved her salad and always comes to this location bc they don't carry it anywhere else. I ordered a sweet potato roll and the shrimp tempura roll. The sweet potato was delicious. I've had better tempura lots of places though. The shrimp was small and had so much lettuce as a filler. My friend ordered the sushi regular meal but subbed the Cali roll for an Alaska roll. Loved all her sushi and the beautiful plating. Service was attentive and kind and over heard one worker thoroughly explaining about Japanese beers. Maybe I'll try one next time. read more

What a delight to find a fresh, tasty sushi place closer to home. Our usual fave, Teton, finally has some serious competition. We ordered a sushi boat ($45) and an appetizer (a dip made of wasabe crackers with a very tasty tuna tartare and guacamole). The appetizer was pretty but not a great dish. Served with a small crown of crackers, we had to ask for a couple more - and we still didn't have enough to finish off the dips of tartare and guac. The sushi boat was a nice assortment of sashimi, sushi and 2 rolls. Fresh, nicely presented. Quantity-wise a little smaller than Teton, but also about $10 cheaper which, next time, will go toward another roll as appetitzer. Decor was sort of Japanese. Music was oddly jazz. For $100 we got 13 rolls, 12 normal and 1 specialty, as well as a large plate of fried rice and drinks. My taste buds have only recently learned to like sushi and when I visited Fuji Grill the other day, I got to snag some of my husband's Spicy Crab Roll and I immediately regretted not getting some for myself. It's was SO delicious and perfectly rolled. I heard that they offer a really good sweet potato roll as well, so I will have to check that out next time. I ordered shrimp over fried noodles. My meal was alright, it just wasn't as good as the sushi. I also didn't like that they kept the tails on my shrimp. They were dressed in some sort of sauce, so it made them pretty difficult to eat. Our server was efficient and basically let us do our own thing. She didn't really check on us, but that's okay - we never truly needed anything. So overall, I'd consider the service average. Edamame beans also a mochi ice cream that was pink Im not sure about the flavor perhaps strawberry but its ice cream how bad can it be. The outside of the ball was sticky rice pounded covering the ice cream. It was sweet and satisfying.
